FRESH DEW

“Praise the LORD! My soul, praise the LORD! I will praise the LORD all my life...”

Welcome to September. Can you believe it? Here we are in the ninth month of 2023. From a farming or agricultural perspective, September which births the autumn season, is the month in which crops begin to be harvested (at least that’s how it used to be).

As shown in Matthew 9:35-38 Jesus preached to, and compassionately ministered to, many people throughout various villages. While preaching, teaching, forgiving sins, and healing all kinds of sicknesses/maladies, Jesus wisely shared with His disciples that “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” He, also, instructed them to “pray to the Lord Who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.”

Both agricultural harvesting and Christian harvesting require workers. Christian harvesting is best done through people who love GOD and who commit themselves to Him as ministers, preachers, teachers, and caretakers of people in myriad situations and scenarios.

While being committed to working in GOD’s kingdom or fields where people need healing and food and good conversation and good teaching …, there are times when the workers grow tired or weary or disillusioned. During such times, the dedicated emissaries of Jesus Christ should go into a respite time so as to rejuvenate. Upon rejuvenation, then the workers can work on themselves to become recommitted Christ-kingdom laborers because the needs of people are constantly high (see Isaiah 61:1-3 for some duties).

The term rejuvenation brings about the thought of happiness. So, it is possible that Christ's workers should be happy/joyful to be in His service. See if the following prayer would be a help:

“Jesus, thank You that when I feel (tired, overwhelmed, or even) depressed I can center my mind on praising You, and there’s relief. Thank You that the language of heaven is praise. I’m choosing today to praise You with all my heart through all things. You’ve opened Your holy gates for me and I’m going to enter as though I’m leading a long procession of saints praising You. I want to enter Your sacred courts thanking You with all my heart. Lord, I’ll praise You loudly, and I’ll also praise You in silence… Heaven loves praise and I’ll praise You as long as I live. Thank You Jesus for the holy gift of praise!

(Adapted from Thank You, Jesus, by Marie Chapian)

Praise the LORD! My soul, praise the LORD! I will praise the LORD all my life. I will sing praises to him as long as I live. Don’t depend on your leaders for help. Don’t depend on people, because they cannot save you.”

(Psalm 146:1-3 ERV)

As we focus on ‘recommit’ this month, let’s remember to take care of ourselves so we may be empowered to minister to others in our environs/surroundings. In order to serve and harvest for Christ, we should always pray; be focused and full of joy/praise. ENJOY!
