FRESH DEW

Peace,BeStill BySis.RickiFuller

Perhaps there are times in each of our lives when we wonder what is GOD doing. Based on the seemingly horrible or troublesome events occurring in the world, where is GOD?

Imaginatively, those are the kinds of questions Christ’s disciples asked periodically regarding His handling of the malicious manners in which the Pharisees, Herod’s men, and the Scribes treated Him.

Particularly, the first segment of the Book of Mark recounts how often those religious, political, and scholarly people were dedicated to finding Jesus at fault so they could accost Him. It appears they wanted to get rid of Him and the Gospel He preached so they could regain control of the people’s minds and their lives. (It can be said their actions are somewhat reminiscent of what’s occurring in this country and countries throughout the world.)

At any rate, Christ’s disciples witnessed how He dealt with the treatment He received from those who acted as enemies to Him. They, also, saw how Jesus did not back down from healing, feeding, teaching, and loving the people who came to Him to experience the good news He taught (Isaiah 61:1-3). They witnessed Jesus Christ exercise patience and fortitude while being surrounded by many people most of the time. Surely there were times they, themselves, were in absolute amazement at Jesus Christ for Whom they seemingly gave up mostly everything to follow.

If anyone had developed faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, it is supposed those 12 or 11 guys strongly believed in Christ’s awe-inspiring Godliness and Power. Even though, on some level, they recognized that Jesus was quite human in many ways, they also saw Him as one who could overcome many obstacles and challenges. Assumedly they had seen Him grow just as tired as they did occasionally, at which times He left to get rest.

Yet, per Mark 4, after teaching and feeding, and healing countless numbers of people, Jesus directed the disciples to “cross over to the other side” in a boat. They had faith to do that and obeyed His request. But, when a ‘great windstorm arose” they became afraid because it felt as though the boat would sink. It was then the disciples resembled those Pharisees and others constantly accosted Jesus. Thus, they accused Him of not caring about them and the dangerous storm (remind you of many of us today when GOD doesn’t do what we want when we want it when we’re scared/faithless?).

Jesus Christ rose from His slumber and “rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, (speaking) “Peace, be still!”” Just as He calmly spoke Peace to the winds and the sea, He also spoke Peace to the disciples’ hearts/minds. And, today, He speaks peace to our hearts as we approach Him faithfully in prayer and we study, endeavoring to practice His Word!

Let’s know that He Is with us as promised, and let’s receive His Peace over the storms in our thoughts/lives. PEACE, we’re in GOD’s Hands!
