Associates Committee
The Associate’s Committee has put in another year of dedicated and committed fund raising for the Club and we have enjoyed a year with some very outstanding events in the process... I feel very privileged to be President of the Associate’s Committee as I have a team of ladies behind me who are all very passionate and dedicated to what we all do. Criena Gehre CEO of HOTA entertained us for 30 minutes. She was witty and funny. Personally I could have listened to her for a lot longer. Criena is a clear champion for HOTAs vision. She has a diverse and eclectic background in the arts management and a particular passion for the role of arts and culture. Really turned out to be an amazing day. Getaway SYC Goes to the Races
Our first event for this report was our Getaway which was hosted by Anne Maree von Zeppelin. This took us all on a magical journey to the Scenic Rim. It was such an amazing day people wanted to have more of them so that is something for us as a group to work on. Our first stop was Albert River Winery at Tamborine. Here they served us morning tea and entertained us with the cattle dogs and the sheep. From there it was onto Overflow Estate 1895 Winery for lunch situated at Wyaralong Dam. Lunch was a gourmet affair prepared by French Chef Ollie. Definitely a place to visit.
Speakers Luncheon
We found this a difficult event to sell but the people who attended were delighted. It turned out to be one of our best functions. Southport Yacht Club Goes to the Races was held at the Turf Club on the 16th of July. Our attendance was down a little on last years but everyone enjoyed an amazing day. The luncheon was decadent, and it was nice to be able to serve ourselves this year. The event as always was a great success.
To our loyal sponsors who keep donating fabulous prizes year after year, we say a very big thank you. Your generosity and support really do mean a lot for our fund raising and ensures the quality of our raffles.
Appreciation as always goes to General Manager Brett James and Operations Manager Katie Lister and their very competent management and administrative team who play a valued role in helping the Committee put together everything from raffle prizes to the finer details of functions and events presented by the Committee. They are always very generous with their time assisting the Committee with its activities.
