What a return for our Club racing! It’s wonderful seeing all of our boats and members back on the water since the 11th July. We are so lucky to be living on our beautiful Gold Coast in the safety of our Queensland State during the current Covid-19 pandemic. From Saturday 11th July until Friday the 31st of July we saw more than 860 participants compete in our sport of Sailing on water!

Thank you to all of our Sailors for voting in your next divisional Sailing Committee Representatives and I am certain they will exceed your expectations in representing your division. Please take the time to talk with your Divisional Reps as they are your key communication avenue for your division and its direction in Australia’s best Yacht them throughout our 2020/2021 Sailing Season.

The SYC Sailing Development Fund is now open for applications and the close date has been extended until 30th September 2020 due to Covid-19. This fund is to provide significant financial

support to SYC Members throughout their sailing development to attend away Championships, Yacht Races and Olympic Campaigns. For an application and the fund guidelines, please go to our website and you will find the information underthe headings On Water/Sailing Information/ Sailing Development Fund. Please ensure you complete your application accurately and clearly. No late submissions will be accepted so please ensure you submit your application prior to 30th September 2020.

Another date which has been extended is the completion of your Australian Sailing Equipment Audit Forms. This has also been extended from 30th June 2020 to 30th September 2020 for this year only. It applies for all entries into SYC Sailing events including all Off The

Beach Catamarans and Dinghies. If you need further information on Equipment Auditing, finding an Equipment Auditor

to inspect and validate your Equipment Audit form or to download the relevant Equipment Audit Form, please head to the Australian Sailing website at: https://www.sailingresources.org.au/ safety/equipment-auditing/.

Please remember to get your entries in early to take advantage of the “Early Bird Special” entry fees. All SYC Special Events have Entry Close dates so please ensure you read the complete Notice of Race for each event. There will be no late entries allowed so as we have sufficient

time to comply with the many conditions imposed by regulatory authorities and also allow sufficient time for competitors

to follow due process if required.

We are looking forward to seeing you take part in our 2020 Sail Past & Blessing of the Fleet on the 12th September and wish you all fast and safe racing in our sailing season ahead. See you on the water soon.
