This term has flo me of the many highlights and achievement m classroom successes to sporting triumphs and creative endeavours, it has been fantastic to see our pupils embracing every opportunity that has come their way.
As we head into the Easter festivities, we also take a moment to think of those in our community who may be facing difficult times. Our Year 7 and 8 pupils visited the Rainbow Ward at West Suffolk Hospital to deliver Easter eggs, hoping to bring a little joy to the young patients and hardworking staff. Their kindness and thoughtfulness truly reflect the spirit of South Lee.

LECTURE
A huge thank you to Mr. J Beckett, Deputy Head Academic of Stoke College, for delivering an inspiring talk our Martineau Lecture on Career Pathways.
The children thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the wide range of opportunities available to them and are now more motivated than ever to explore the exciting possibilities ahead. We are grateful for Mr. Beckett’s insights and for the valuable perspective he shared with our pupils today.
MARTINEAU LECTURE
Our Years 6-8 pupils were treated to a brilliant Martineau Lecture, delivered by Mr. Sam Lebbon, Head of Biology at Framlingham College. His engaging talk on biology sparked curiosity, deepened understanding, and left our pupils thoroughly inspired!

WORLD BOOK DAY
Our pupils brought stories to life with fantastic costumes, creative activities, and a shared love of reading. From classic tales to modern favourites, the day was filled with storytelling, book-themed fun, and plenty of imagination. A wonderful celebration of the joy that books bring to us all!

Fresh powder, big smiles, and endless fun on the slopes! Our skiers set off for a week of adventure in the stunning French Alps and made the most of every moment - whizzing down the runs, mastering new skills, and soaking up the breathtaking mountain views. And of course, no ski trip was complete without a little après-ski laughter!
BRITISH SCIENCE WEEK
Creativity, teamwork, and balloon power took centre stage in our Egg Drop Challenge!
Using everyday materials, pupils designed landing systems to keep their eggs safe - before the big drop from the fire escape. Would they survive or end in a scrambled disaster? A cracking day of problem-solving and hands-on science fun!
DENBURY HOMES
We are incredibly proud of Maggie P, who had the honour of unveiling the newly completed townhome at Denbury Homes’ St Edmunds Gate development. Maggie’s brilliant design for the children’s bedroom was brought to life, showcasing her creativity, vision, and attention to detail.

YEARS 6 & 7 TRIP TO
MOUNTFITCHET CASTLE
Years 6 & 7 stepped into history with a fantastic trip to Mountfitchet Castle, experiencing life as it was in the Norman era! They explored the medieval village, wandered through ancient buildings, and discovered what daily life was like centuries ago. A hands-on, immersive experience that brought history to life learning has never been so much fun!
What happens when you mix pancakes, speed, and a bit of South Lee spirit? The ultimate Pancake Race, of course!
Our pupils took on the challenge, flipping their way to victory in a hilarious, action-packed run. There were thrills, spills, and some very questionable flipping techniques but most importantly, there were plenty of smiles!

TEA TIME TUNES
Tea Time Tunes was a delightful afternoon filled with music, warmth, and wonderful performances. Pupils from across the school took to the stage, showcasing their hard work and musical talents in front of family and friends. From delicate piano pieces to lively ensemble performances, the event was a true celebration of music at South Lee.
Our talented children from Reception to Year 3 took to the stage for the Pre-Prep Verse Speaking Finals, showcasing their confidence, creativity, and hard work.
It was wonderful to see them bring their poems to life, speaking with clarity and expression Every child has made fantastic progress in their performance skills, and we are so proud of their achievements.
A special well done to our winners: George W (Reception), Beatrice B (Year 1), Edison L (Year 2), and Eliot C (Year 3), who impressed the judges with their delivery.

EASTER CELEBRATIONS
The whole school came together for a delicious Easter lunch, enjoying a festive meal filled with seasonal favourites, laughter, and great company. It was a lovely opportunity for pupils and staff to relax, share stories, and reflect on a busy and rewarding term. A wonderful way to celebrate Easter and bring the term to a close!
Year 7 and 8 pupils took a special trip to the Rainbow Ward at West Suffolk Hospital, bringing with them over 200 chocolate eggs to share with the young patients and the dedicated staff who care for them. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with those in our local community and spread some festive cheer.
We know that spending time in hospital, especially over Easter, can be difficult, so we wanted to bring a little bit of joy to brighten their day.
Seeing the children’s faces light up as they received their eggs was a truly special moment for everyone involved it’s amazing how a simple gesture can make such a big difference.
