Obituaries Patricia D’Angelo

John Wilkes John Wilkes, Sr., 92, died June 25, 2009. Born in New Britain, son of Stephen and Marg aret Wilczek, he is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Wilkes; and his children, John Wilkes, Jr., and his wife, Marion, Joan Bell and Susan Gagnon. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Palmieri, and Paula Perry, and a brother, Walter Gonska. He has a sister,

Helaine Corbett, of California. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to nephew, Louis Palmieri and his wonderful neighbors, Al and Elaine Paradis, Helen and Mark Zychowski and Ann Steeves. He served in World War II as a T. Sergeant in the U.S. Army 188th Engineer C Battalion for his service during the war he was awarded the following medals: Bronze Star, European African, Middleast service with Four-Battle Star, Americal Campain, World War II victory, French Fourragere and various other service medals. Patricia “Petie” (Noonan ) D’Angelo, 81, died July 3, 2009 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Dr. Anthony D’Angelo. She was born September 26, 1927 in Derby, the daughter of the late Francis and Gladys (Gade) Noonan. She had been a Registered Nurse, a parishioner of St. Thomas Church and a volunteer at Bradley Memorial Hospital thrift and gift shop. She is survived by her children, Patricia Kanute and her husband David, Nancy Yalanis and her husband Stephen, and Debra Wiltse and her husband David, all of Southington; Thomas D’Angelo and his wife Susan of Trumbull; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Warren and her husband Chris, Amy Marsh and her husband Les, Sarah Drayton, Tracy Sizer and her husband Mark, Christopher Yalanis, Brian D’Angelo, Scott D’Angelo, Anthony Wiltse, Matthew D’Angelo, Rebecca and Adam Wiltse, 4 great grandchildren, Cody Warren, Jaedyn Drayton, Brooke Warren, Caitlin Sizer, Rebecca, Andrew and Hannah Marsh; sisters-in-laws Lorraine Noonan, Marjorie D’Angelo, Josephine D’Angelo and Mary Mancini and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Francis “Luke” Noonan and a sister Nancy Hummel. Services were held June 7, 2009 from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home to St. Thomas Church for a Mass. his time as an umpire for little league. He was proud to serve his community in the Plantsville Engine Company No. 2 volunteer fire department for 25 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Redmen and the Mason Friendship Lodge. He retired from Clark Brothers Bolt Company. He has donated his body to the UConn School of Medicine. A memorial service was held at the First Congregational Church in Southington on June 30, 2009.
