Hurricanes start hot
The 12-under UBSA Hurricanes are now 3-1 in the Connecticut Travel Baseball League after a doubleheader split at Recreation Park on May 2.

2-for-2 for the Hurricanes, who rallied to close within 75 with a five-run fourth inning before Fairfield pulled away for the win. Adam Wilson (run) went 2-for-3, Garrett Gugliotti had a double, an RBI and scored a run and Kyle Bunko pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. UBSA began the day with an 8-4 victory over the 12-under Cheshire Reds. Gugliotti had a pair of doubles, scored a run and had three RBI and Wilson added a two-run double as the Hurricanes led 6-1 after two innings. Wilson and Devin Prive combined on a seven-hitter, while Jose Silva (RBI) and Ryan DeAngelo (run) each had two hits. UBSA needed only five innings to post a 14-3 victory over the 12-under East Mountain Mets in Waterbury on April 23. Connor Crean had a threerun homer, Silva had a triple,
home run and two RBI and Gugliotti had a single, double and triple in three atbats. Gugliotti had two RBI and scored a run, while Silva scored twice and had two RBI. Kyle DeAngelo went 2-for2 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI and Kupstis had two hits, two runs scored and one RBI. Connor John had two hits, an RBI and scored a run, while Christian Raczka had a tworun single and scored a run. Mitch Raczka (double), Bunko and Farkas each scored a run, while Ryan DeAngelo had a hit and scored a run. Gugliotti, John and Kyle DeAngelo combined on a two-hitter, striking out 10. SVMFL registration
Southington Valley Midget Football League will hold open registration for all Southington students entering kindergarten to eighth grade for the 2010 to 2011 school year. The registration will be held on May 15 from 9 to 1 p.m. and June 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. It will be at Recreation Park Football Field House. There is a fee.
Golf tournament
A golf tournament to benefit The Arc of Southington Recreation Department will be held on Friday, May 14, with May 21 acting as a rain date, at Hawk’s Landing Country Club in Southington. The cost includes 18 holes with cart, lunch, buffet dinner and prizes.
