“Time is passing...yet, for the UNITED STATED OF AMERICA, there will be no forgetting September the 11th.” (George W. Bush)

America Needs to Remain Strong Remember, Remember, Remember As we reflect on 9/11, we must remember that a weak America only spells trouble for us and an already troubled world. BY KEVIN DEVLIN

Today is the anniversary of 9/11, a day etched in our minds forever. As former President George W. Bush said in response to thwart future terrorist attacks and bring those responsible to justice, “We will not tire. We will not falter. And we will not fail.” Since the beginning of the last century, America has led the way against aggression. In World War I, our late entry into the so-called “War to end all wars” helped turn the tide against Imperialist Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In World War II, our industrial and military might was instrumental in defeating Imperialist Japan and Nazi Germany. Our mission to defend the rights of people against totalitarian governments, either secular or theocratic in nature, has made this safer, better world. Today the world is a troubled place and a weak-

ened America will only make things even worse. Now we face another threat from godless men who behead innocent people in the name of their God. These extremists don’t truly represent the true tenets of Islam. They grossly distort it. And they dishonor God. As we move forward the hopes of the free world rests upon the shoulders of America. Without our resolve, without our determination to fight evil and defend freedom, this world will become a darker place. We must remain strong to fight aggression, to stop terrorism. We must always remember 9/11. We must not tire or falter. Because if we do fail, Freedom will die as surely as the sun rises every morning and Evil will eventually reign supreme.

1st Time Homebuyers Seminar

This coming Sunday, we have much to remember. It is the 33rd Anniversary of South Boston’s Vietnam Memorial. The first in the nation, it memorializes the 25 young South Boston men who gave their lives – the highest number killed in action in any community of our size in America. Make it a point to spend a couple of hours remembering with us – a 10:30 Memorial Mass at St. Brigid Church, followed by a memorial observance at the Vietnam Memorial in Medal of Honor Park (M and East Broadway) at 11:30. For we have much to remember since the end of the Vietnam War 40 years ago. Just think of 9-11 in 2001, an even 13 years ago as you are reading this. Time has passed. Do you remember that tragic Tuesday at the beginning of this century? On August 5 this year, we lost Major General Harold J. Greene, USA, who was shot by a terrorist in Afghanistan. He was the highest ranking officer killed in action since the deaths of Lt. Gen. Timothy Maude, USA, on 9-11 and Rear Admiral Rembrandt Robinson, USN, in Vietnam. Their heroic threads intertwine. Gen. Greene spoke at our 2010 Vietnam Memorial observance. Were you there? Please join us this Sunday, as we dedicate the Vietnam Memorial observances to General Greene. Remember.
