A STEADY PRESENCE BEHIND THE BACKLINE

After sharing duties between the sticks at the start of the season goal keeper Lewis Hudson took over the starting position in January and hasn’t looked back. His strong presence, and booming voice behind the defensive line has helped the team to nine straight wins, eight of which have been clean sheets.

Only 3 matches left and the team is really hitting their stride. What has clicked between you and the back line, or the team in general, recently that has led to so many clean sheets?

I think as the season as gone on the team as a whole has stabalised more. Individuals are more comfortable playing with those around them and that really helps.

You’ve had some outstanding matches over the course of the season, often keeping us in some very competitive matches. Do you have a match, or particular save, from the season that really sticks out in your mind?

I would probably say the game away to second place Kennington is up there. That was perhaps one of the busier games I’ve been in and we managed to keep the scoreline 1-1.

After securing the starting position back in January did you find the pressure on your performances increase or actually lessen?

I think over time it has become easier as I was

actually playing on a more regular basis. Which helps.

What areas do you feel you’ve grown and improved the most over the course of the season?

I would have to say my confidence when it comes to match day.

Do you have any superstitions, rituals or habits on match days?

I wouldn’t say I have many superstitions, however, I will only ever put my water bottle on the left side of the goal.

You’re a very vocal presence behind the defense on match days. In what ways do you try to impose yourself on matches and make life difficult for opposing attackers?

I think its just that...Its probably a case of trying to be as loud as possible.

If you could play any other position on the pitch which would it be?

With three games to go I think now would be a good time to show Rich my potential as a forward...and hopefully get a few goals under my belt!
