Keeping the Spotlight on the Most High: Prioritizing God in the Entertainment Industry
In the fast-paced world of the entertainment industry, where fame and fortune often take center stage, it can be easy to lose sight of what truly matters. Amidst the glitz and glamour, keeping one’s spiritual compass pointed in the right direction is essential. Regardless of your role – whether you’re an actor, musician, filmmaker, or behind-the-scenes professional –prioritizing God can provide guidance, strength, and a sense of purpose. So, family, let’s keep it real and deal so that we can heal. Here are some tips on how to keep God first in the entertainment industry.
Start Each Day with Acknowledgment and Thanksgiving: In an industry where rejection and criticism are commonplace, cultivating a spirit of acknowledging God and being thankful can work wonders for your mindset and set the tone for your day. Begin each day by acknowledging who God has shown
you he is. Such as Him being your way maker, friend, healer, etc., and express thanks to Him for another opportunity to pursue your passion and share your gifts with the world. Whether through prayer, meditation, or simply quiet reflection, acknowledging the blessings in your life sets a positive tone for the day ahead.
Align Your Spiritual Values with Your Work: Do not Compromise! As you navigate the often-unpredictable terrain of the entertainment industry, staying true to your values and beliefs is important. Take time to reflect on the projects you choose to pursue and the roles you accept. Do they align with your principles and morals? Will they uplift and inspire others? By staying grounded in your faith and integrity, you can make choices that honor God while still pursuing your creative endeavors.
Practice Praying Consistently: In the whirlwind of auditions, rehearsals, and production schedules, losing touch with your spiritual center is easy. Try training yourself to be disciplined in prayer. Incorporate prayer into your daily routine to stay consistent with it. This is a form of walking in integrity when
you can keep your word to yourself. Whether it is a quick prayer while you are getting dressed, on your way to work, or before stepping on stage, these practices can help ground you in God, build an intimate relationship with Him, and remind you of the higher purpose behind your creative pursuits.
In an industry, that often glorifies fame and success, keeping God first can provide a solid foundation upon which to build your career and navigate the highs and lows of showbiz. By starting each day by acknowledging God and with thanksgiving through prayer, you can stay grounded in your faith while pursuing your creative passions. So let your light shine bright both on and off the stage, keeping the spotlight firmly fixed on God, also known as Jesus.

— Maggie H.“Is Las Vegas Poised to Become the Next Hollywood?”
The film industry has hopes to firmly establish its presence in southern Nevada. A number of award-winning filmmakers and other creatives are moving to the area, from California, and plans are in the works for big budget film studios and production companies to capitalize on the wide variety of locations and potential tax breaks.
Last spring, actor Mark Wahlberg, Las Vegas senator Roberta Lange (D-NV), and film production companies Birtcher Development, Howard Hughes Corporation, and Sony Pictures lobbied for the Nevada Film Studio Infrastructure Act (SB496), also known as “The Film Bill.” SB496 proposes a $190 billion annual tax credit over the next 20 years for the construction of two film production companies in southern Nevada.
The current Las Vegas tax credit
is a $10 million annual allotment that would incentivize some $60 million in local production spending. SB496’s proposed tax credit could generate $55 billion to help boost the local economy, as well as create over 26,000 new jobs. However, the main objective of SB486 remains the creation of two film production campuses.
Birtcher Development proposed to manage and partially finance the proposed Las Vegas Media Campus Project, to be housed at the Harry Reid Research and Technology Park at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The 34 plus acre site and 800,000 square-foot mixed use development would include film and television production studios rent-free for UNLV students and staff.
Sony Pictures and Howard Hughes Corporation propose to join forces on a second production studio
and mixed-use retail space, the Summerlin Production Studio Project, to include built sets as well as sound stages. What's more, SB496 would require editors, boom operators, camera workers, and behind-the-scenes jobs to be filled by local Las Vegans. Also, these companies would receive tax credits based on 30 percent of the amount of direct production expenditures. Companies would also be required to indicate that film productions were filmed in Nevada in the ending credits. Wahlberg, who moved his family to Las Vegas in 2022, wants to create a Hollywood 2.0, and has tried to convince Nevada State lawmakers to pass the proposed bill.
“I would love to see us building studios, creating jobs and just diversifying the [local] economy,” Wahlberg told CNBC. “We want to create as much opportunity for

Celebrating 100 Years of Sony Pictures: Iconic Movies Featuring Diversity
In the rich tapestry of cinematic history, few studios have left an indelible mark quite like Sony Pictures. For a century, Sony Pictures has been at the forefront of storytelling, bringing to life unforgettable characters, captivating narratives, and groundbreaking performances. As we commemorate its centennial
anniversary, it’s a fitting time to reflect on the studio’s legacy, particularly its contributions to diversity and representation on the silver screen.
Throughout its storied history, Sony Pictures has been a trailblazer in championing diversity and inclusion, providing plat-
forms for multicultural actors to shine and stories that resonate with audiences worldwide. From gripping dramas to sidesplitting comedies, here are twenty of the most iconic movies featuring multicultural actors that have graced the screens under the
Sony Pictures banner:

as many people as possible. We want to uncover new and exciting talent.”
Senator Lange argues that passing SB496 would also supplement the local tourism industry - citing Hollywood’s studio tours to Paramount, Sony, and Universal.
She believes an operation like
this could benefit Las Vegas as well. After almost four years of planning, “The Film Bill” was introduced to Nevada legislators on May 11, 2023. Unfortunately, SB496 failed to come to a vote due to time constraints for debate before the end of the legislative session on June 5th, 2023. However, CEO of Birtcher Development, Brandon Birtcher, remains
hopeful on the bill’s future. “What we’re doing is bringing the film and television production capital of the world, southern California, just a few hours east, to southern Nevada.”
Those familiar with the process say, the failure of passage is because of the bill’s omission of infrastructure development in northern Nevada. Senator Lange believes an amendment could include a study on how SB496 could impact the northern sector of Nevada. Other sources feel that the bill, or similar legislation, has a good chance of passing during the next legislative session in 2025. Potential studio builders appear to not be deterred, and remain fully engaged in conversations with the state.

Rubi Rox: Artist Spotlight
I’ve had a strong passion for art since I was a child, but I remember that songs and seeing singers on TV sparked a special feeling. I was always a curious child when it came to art, and I wrote poems and songs from a young age. My family always supported me in developing those gifts. I have many musical influences, including Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Thalia, and many more, but I have a great admiration and respect for Rihanna’s artistic career. Her songs and art have inspired me since I was young.
I started by uploading my rap compositions to Instagram, and today I’ve recorded with artists like Sak Noel. I’ve met people who have pushed me a lot in this and helped me find myself more and more, like True Hollywood, Sak Noel, my current producers Shadows the Producer and Flavba, and many others.
A future project coming soon is with Dainjazone that will get everyone dancing.
You can find me on Instagram and TikTok as @rubiroxofficial, on Spotify as Rubi Rox, and on YouTube as Rubi Rox. I await you there so we can continue growing together.

Layllen: Yes, I had a few transparent conversations at the beginning of the process that had me hopeful that finding an amazing person was possible.
S&S: What lessons did you learn about yourself through your journey on the television program?
Layllen: I have a lot of respect for anyone that does reality TV. The hours are long. The cameras are always rolling, and you go through a variety of emotions. No two days are the same and you really have to be open and open-minded. The biggest
lesson I learned was no matter what, just be yourself. Who is there for you will be attracted to you.
S&S: What advice would you give to someone considering participating on a reality television dating show?
Layllen: Make sure to do your research. Watch the programs you are interested in. Also, make sure you really have the time and energy to be fully present.
S&S: Was it a hard decision to leave the show?
Layllen: It was a very hard decision, because I had made some connections, and still felt like I didn’t get the opportunity to get to know some of the men. However, I did not want to be unfair to anyone.
S&S: Looking ahead, what are you hopes and aspirations when it comes to finding love and building meaningful relationships in the future?
Layllen: I have a very positive perspective. I know God has someone very special for me. I have been intentional about working on myself so I can be the best version of myself
when he reveals my husband. I know all things happen in his perfect timing.
S&S: Do you have any products, projects, or businesses you would like to share?
Layllen: I am the author of the selfcare book, “Love, It Starts with You. I am also the owner of LAYD, which stands for Live All Your Dreams. LAYD is an intimate event venue located in Dallas. Inspiring others to live a more purpose-filled life has always been a passion of mine.
