In the context of a free democracy, where one of the vital parts of the system is news, the world is currently facing a problem with the proliferation of fake news. Fake news has never been as harmful as it is right now. Globally, the spread of false information has dramatically increased in recent years, which has led to a number of issues, such as its potential to negatively affect public opinion, to promote violent and hate speech, to erode and reduce people’s trust in the democratic process, and to influence people’s voting and stances on various social issues.

Shainne A. SaclausaWith the theme “The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers,” Sorsogon State University celebrated World Teachers’ Day on October 5, 2022, as a way to recognize and honor the role of the dedicated teachers.
Students from various organizations within the university banded together in secret, led by the College Student Council, to work as one to show their appreciation and respect for their beloved teachers. Their efforts resulted in a fun and rewarding celebration program for SorSU teachers.
The celebration program took place in the SorSU Covered Court on October 5, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. All of the teachers and instructors from the university
were invited to attend the program. Celso IV Dellosa, President of the CSC, delivered the opening message as the program officially began. Following that, there were a number of special performances, including songs, dances, spoken word poetry, and gift-giving from the students. These performances served as tributes to the teachers.
As the special guest of the program, President Geraldine F. De Jesus, SUC President III, addressed the teachers with a very heartfelt message. The moment she asked the teachers to give hugs to their mentors and colleagues while she gave one herself was one of the highlights of the program. This was done to show the teachers’ support and appreciation for one another.
Several surprise numbers were also prepared by SorSU teachers from different colleges. Prices for these faculty presentations were provided by Prof. Saturnino Carranza and his officers. Additionally, meals were
prepared and served for the teachers. The extremely captivating Videoke Challenge was then presented to them for their enjoyment.
The program came to an end filled with happiness, love, and appreciation for the teachers.
The general assembly, with the theme “Reuniting Organizations and Reigniting the Flame of Enthusiasm,” was organized and hosted by SorSU-EASA (Engineering-Architecture Students Association), who were motivated and enthusiastic about serving the College of Engineering and Architecture of Sorsogon State University.
On October 14, 2022, two separate sessions—a morning session and an afternoon session—were conducted in Audio Visual Hall located inside the Main Campus of Sorsogon State University. All first-year students in the Department of Engineering and Architecture are required to attend the morning session from 8:00 to 12:00, and the second to fourth-year students are required to attend the afternoon session from 1:00 onward. Due to the relatively large student population of the department, not all students can be accommodated in the AV Hall. Thus, EASA used a Google form to conduct a survey in order to determine which students could physically attend the assembly. This survey was used to compile a list of students who are required to attend. Other students were advised to attend the assembly virtually.
The Assembly began with the opening remarks of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture, Engr. Rufo D. Durian III, on behalf of the EASA Adviser, Engr. Noel G. Benavides. This was followed by the presentation of the newly elected members of the minor student organizations of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering (UAPSA, ACES, IIEE, and PSME). Each of these organizations gave an overview of their accomplishments, turnover of accounts, and messages for the engineering and architecture students. Subsequently, Electronics Communication Engineering was introduced. The newly elected officers of the Engineering-Architecture Students Association were then presented. Following the introduction of the officers, the EASA Constitution, By-Laws, and Amendments were read to outline their responsibilities. The Calendar of Activities was unveiled and further discussions regarding organizational and legislative issues ensued.
EASA concluded the assembly with a number of activities and events that the entire department can look forward to throughout the entire academic year.
Our dearest teachers, we thank you today and every day. Happy Teacher’s Day!The SorSU-EASA deliberately held its First General Assembly of the Academic Year in the Audio Visual Hall of the Main Campus on October 14, 2022
After two long years, the intramurals are finally back, face-to-face, at the Sorsogon State University.
On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, with the theme “Gearing Ahead in Strengthening Physical and Mental Health Through Sports in the New Normal,” the Sorsogon State University’s Intramurals 2022 officially kicked off.
The anticipated event went on despite the heavy rain. A program was held at the covered court of the SorSU main campus to officially open the intramurals. Reggae Beltran and Martin Paul Gabito served as the masters of ceremonies. The program was preceded by a mass and a parade around the campus. The program commenced with a doxology by the SorSU dance, theater, and cultural group, followed by the Philippine National Anthem and SorSU Hymn sung by Himig SorSUeños. The campus director, Telesforo D. Escoto, Ed.D., gave the welcoming statement.
Subsequently, the units were presented and the unit flags were raised. The Laboratory High School was divided into three units, with the House of Tyrell making up Unit 1, the House of Stark making up Unit 2, and the House of Lannister making up Unit 3. On the other hand, there were four units in the college level: Unit 1 for the College of Engineering and Architecture as the House of Greyjoy, Unit 2 for the College of Teacher Education and Midwifery as the House of Baratheon, Unit 3 for the College of Business Management as the House of Targaryen, and Unit 4 for the College of Technology as the House of Martell. The intramurals took on the theme of the Game of Thrones series, hence all units were named after houses from the said show.
Before the lighting of the friendship torch, SorSU TAC-SAKATE performed an intermission number to intermission number to get the crowd enthused. Aldrin Equipado (BET-Elec-4), an athlete for the Regional SCUAA 2020-Athletics (Running and Jumping Event) and the Palarong Pambansa 2016–18, ignited the friendship torch. Meanwhile, Aico Grefalda (BCAEd-4A), the 2014 Palarong Pambansa and the Regional SCUAA 2020 Basketball Women player led the oath of amateurism.
The SorSU Intramurals 2022 were officially opened by the Sports Coordinator and Adviser of FPM, Prof. Nick Barrameda, and concluded by the President of FPM, Edzel Joe Funtelar, who urged everyone to have fun but never lose sight of the significance of sportsmanship.
As the intramurals were officially opened, the mass demonstration began. Students were told to line up at the SorSU covered court after the opening program according to their respective units. The music began playing as soon as all the lines were in place, and the mass demonstration got underway. Students and instructors coordinated their dancing while having fun. They repeated the dance and the music three times.
Following the mass demonstration was the thrilling Cheerdance competition.
The competition area was well prepared to ensure the safety of the cheerleaders and the crowd. The regulations and judging standards were explained prior to the competition. The laboratory high school units were set to perform first, followed by the college units.
The astounding choreography of Unit II, House of Stark, raised the bar significantly. Unit III, the House of Lannister,
then performed spectacularly in unique and adorable costumes. The House of Tyrell, Unit I, made sure they were not overlooked and displayed their incredible synchronization.
The crowd became even more agitated when the college units were set to perform. The House of Baratheon in Unit 2—College of Teacher Education and Midwifery ignited the competition with their remarkable performance. It was followed by the exuberant execution by the House of Targaryen from Unit 3—College of Business Management, which featured terrific choreography. The competition proceeded as The House of Greyjoy from Unit 1—College of Engineering and Architecture put on a jaw-dropping display of synchronization as they attempted to grab their flags for victory. The House of Martell from Unit 4—College of Technology concludes the competition and showcases their phenomenal lifting prowess to show that they were not left behind.
Basketball exhibition games for men and women were played in the afternoon among faculty and non-teaching personnel. Subsequently, the BHSI Basketball Men for High School Unit 1 (Tyrell) and Unit 3 (Lannister) game began.
8:00 a.m. on December 16, 2022, A Culminating Activity on RIZAL'S COMMEMORATION: The Life and Works of Dr. Jose Rizal in the Contemporary World took place at SorSU's Baribag Campus in Sorsogon City. The initiative's directors are Mrs. Brenda Lou D. Dellosa, an instructor of Rizal's Life and Works, and Ms. Cloe Verches. Students from Ma'am Brenda's COEA classes, which include 2nd-year civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and third-year architecture students, took part in the program. A bigsaywit (bigkas, sayaw, awit), a roleplay, a musical, or other creative acts that showcase and honor Dr. Jose Rizal's life and work were required of each section.
The program began with Ms. Cloe Verches serving as master of ceremonies. The Philippine national anthem, the SorSU hymn, and an opening prayer marked the beginning of the event. The welcome speech from Engr. Rufo D. Durian III, Dean of the COEA Department, came next. Then, the judges were introduced. Ma'am Dellosa gave an introductory message before the entries were presented.
The presentation started with CE-2A, followed by CE2B, EE-2B, and ME-2A. Before the presentation continues, the intermission number was given by students from the 3rd year architecture class. Then the presentation continued, starting with CE-2C, followed by EE-2A and ME-2B. Each presentation was outstanding and spectacular. Through their distinctive performances, they effectively illustrated and depicted Rizal's life.
Ma'am Brenda surprised the students with an unexpected intermission number following the presentation of all the entries. The students were amazed and impressed by her rendition of "Bayan Ko." The students were not prepared for ma'am Brenda to sing with that beautiful and magical voice.
Champion: ME-2A
First placer: EE-2A
2nd placer: CE-2C
Following the distribution of tokens and certificates to the judges, the following winners were declared: Mr. Oliver B. Garbin made a few closing remarks before the program came to a close, and after that, group photos were taken.
On the same day in the afternoon at exactly 1:30 pm, following the culminating activity on Rizal's commemoration, after showcasing and honoring Rizal's life and works, modern Barter System was carried out. Each of the 2nd-year engineering students of SorSU prepared 3 items or any variety of products to be traded with the other sections without monetary exchange just like how our ancestors exchange products before the time money was invented.
Key chains, tumblers, mugs, books, pens, bags, stationaries, caps, shirts, and foods such as junk foods, chocolates, spices, and fruits, we're some of the products bartered in the said activity.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Brenda Lou D. Dellosa didn't witness the joyous event because she suddenly felt unwell the afternoon, however, with the assistance of Ms. Cloe Verches, the Barter System was executed successfully at the same time witty yet noteworthy activity for each of the 2nd-year engineering students.
The culminating activity on Rizal's commemoration and the barter system ended with a smile on each student's face as they were delighted with the momentous event.
Janus Anne D. De La Cruz & Maelene D. EncarnacionLast October 19, 2022, SorSU attended the 12th PSME National Student Conference with the theme “Preening the Edge: Transitioning the Mechanical Engineering Baseline to a Greener Future,” which was held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The conference aimed to provide technical learning to the students and alleviation of knowledge in current challenges, including intensive environmental awareness for a sustainable future in the dynamic new world.
It discussed plenary topics with corresponding speakers which include Finance in ME Business headed by Mr. Jed L. Velarde, Business for ME’s headed by Engr. Sonny T. Calma, Status of the Environment in the Philippines headed by Mr. Teodoro “Teddy” Baguilat Jr., Mechanical Engineering in Agriculture Production headed by Dr. Arnold R. Elpaño, Mechanical Engineering Approach in Greening in the Philippine Manufacturing Industry headed
by Engr. Rolando Paulino Jr., and Feasibility of Hybrid Electric Vehicles in the Philippines presided by Engr. Vitaliano Mamawal III.
Alongside the plenary topics, an inspirational message was given by former Vice-President, Ma. Leonor G. Robredo.
For each plenary talk, the conference also had open forums, and at the end of the program, they conducted a fellowship where the students mingle with their fellow mechanical engineering students. The following day, the invited students attended an exhibit that showcased mechanical engineering-related companies’ products and services.
The PSME National Students’ Conference was attended by the selected 4th-year and 3rd-year mechanical engineering students from SorSU with Ms. Esther H. Dingalan as their coordinator.
To conclude, here is the statement from the coordinator, Ms. Esther H. Dingalan regarding her experience during the PSME National Students’ Conference.
“The last PSME Conference 2022 experience was a blast. It was my first time attending one, and I am grateful to say that it was worth it. We left Sorsogon full of excitement, and we came back full of memories that I know we will treasure. It was fun having an off-campus activity with my classmates. We had the time to really engage with one another without thinking about academic stuff. I think we got to know each other during that 5-day trip. I’ve also witnessed how the trip bonded us together. I really saw the concern of each attendee for one another. Then the funny part happened. The conference started at 10 AM, but we got there as early as 7 AM. Well, that’s the program’s supposedly starting time, but due to some issues, we started that late. Some of us were featured in the video presentation of the PSME conference. There were also students from other schools who mingled with us. Then, after the long day, we still had the energy to talk to one another at the coaster. I want to tell you about the whole trip, but I think it would be very long, so to make it short and to conclude, the experience was a blast! The pagod sa pag-asikaso ng papers, yung pahirapan makapapirma, yung pagbalik-balik na nonstop from main to baribag and vice versa. Those were paid off as soon as we got to the coaster and started our journey to Manila.”
Another highlight of the morning session were the various competitions joined by the architecture students, simultaneously held at the AV Hall, Architecture Building, and campus grounds. The competitions were Pen and Ink Rendering, Charcoal Rendering, Watercolor Rendering, Scale Modelling, Photography, and Team Building.
Meanwhile, the highlight of the afternoon was the seminar wherein distinguished guests Arch. Ramon E. Dealca and Arch. Ronel M. Descarga shared their experiences and knowledge in the architectural field, particularly on the principles of designing and environmental well-being. Tokens of appreciation were awarded to them following their respective talks.

On December 17, 2022, at SorSU, Baribag Campus, Sorsogon City, a Culminating Activity on PE 3: Sports Activities with the theme “Igniting the SorSUeos Spirit in the New Normal through PE and Sports” is organized. Sir Christian G. Fugen, a PE 3 advisor, is in charge of the initiative.
The participants are subdivided into the three groups listed below:
the amateurism oath. Sir Christian G. Fugen then gave a formal opening address to the events.
The students performed the mass demonstration and the arnis demonstration (basic skills). And so the activities began. Badminton was the first sport played, then chess, basketball, volleyball, and laro ng lahi. The students watched and took pleasure in each activity, particularly the girls’ basketball game, which was played without regard to rules for them to play it easily and the result was fun.
Following the sporting events, the closing ceremony and awards ceremony took place. Every sporting competition’s champion received a medal. Unit 3 emerged as the overall winner followed by Unit 2 and Unit 1. Each unit received a sizable package filled with a wide variety of treats and snacks. Before the students departed, Sir Christian handed a small token to each one of them as a remembrance of the event. The students are really delighted with the token. The program came to an end with bodies weary out but hearts overflowing and happy.

Nowadays, we rely on online information to grasp what is going on in our society. As individuals exchange more and more information online, technological advances such as the internet and the rise of social media enable fake news stories to proliferate quickly and easily. While the internet has made information more accessible and has been a useful tool for social movements, it has also introduced new technological risks and vulnerabilities, such as the ability for false information to spread quickly. Anyone with a website, blog, or social media presence may now produce content and possibly reach big audiences. People tend to believe what they read and don’t always question it. If every information were not verified extensively, there would be cases where readers of an article might discover information that was inaccurate yet would continue to believe it. As ill-informed people frequently make ill-informed decisions, this can be very dangerous. Because so many individuals now acquire their news through social media platforms, several content producers and creators have taken advantage of this. Many of the things you read online, particularly in your social media feeds, may appear to be factual, but they are usually fraudulent and fake. So, what is there left to believe in?
Fake news is like an epidemic; once it has made touch with the public, it will continue to spread until it is fully resolved. It also acts like a nuclear bomb, exploding with such intense power that it destroys everything around it. Regardless of how sound their arguments appear to be, not all written sources are reliable. When determining a piece of writing’s reliability, we must take into consideration a variety of factors pertaining to both the topic and the author or publisher who is presenting it. Is the data up to date? Is it truly relevant to the subject it discusses? Does it cite any sources to back up its claims? Are these references trustworthy? Has the data lately been written and published? Does the publishing date appear? And who is ultimately accountable for the data? Is there even a publisher or author listed?
As fake news has become more prevalent in part due to information overload and a general lack of awareness among individuals of how the internet functions, it is best for individuals to be cautious and make an effort to locate and obtain truthful data from a variety of sources, especially from sites and references with the finest track records for ethical and reliable journalism. Taking the initiative to correct inaccurate information before it spreads and increasing digital literacy for those most vulnerable to misinformation are just a few of the many ways to combat the spreading of fake news.
Miguel Ellis Sarmiento, of the House of Targaryen won the Best in Creative Attire award.
The night did not end there as more wonder awaited the crowd. Bejeweled candidates stride through the ramp with their elegant gowns and dashing suits. They glistened like a disco ball. Being in the spotlight, being in the moment. Giving a shimmering entertainment. But then, the one who gleamed the most in the female category is candidate no. 7, Charlene Vargas, of the House of Targarye while candidate no. 8, Kim Marvin Laguidao, of House of Baratheon outshone the other males.
Following that, the contenders found themselves down to the final five. Ultimately, the top placers for Ms. SORSU were Candidates No. 3,4,6,7,8 and for Mr. SORSU were 1,2,3,5,8.
Greyjoy
Targaryen screams. Every house cheers for their own respective representatives. After two long years of pandemic, which has arisen the anticipation of not only the students, but the whole campus, SORSU was able to hold one of its most anticipated events in the whole intramurals season, the Mr. And Ms. SORSU 2022. Special--that is one word to describe this year's pageant.
But a great war, it will be, as this new season of SORSU intramurals is inspired by the hit TV series, the Game of Thrones. Every College is named after the houses in the said series. All houses stand their ground. The torch of the great battle was ignited as the contenders for Mr. and Ms. SORSU 2022 show-off their grace and intellect, each coveting the throne as king and queen.
Adorned with confidence and elegance, the candidates already captivated the hearts of the audience from the very beginning.
Candidate no. 1, Gabriel Paul Funtelar,
brought pride to the house of Greyjoy as he won the Best in Production award in the male category. Candidate no. 3, Rica Jane Peñalba, of House of Targaryen won the Best in Production award in the female category.
It felt like the season changed as the contenders flaunted their bodies in their swimwear attire. From the cold shivering night, the atmosphere rose in an instant. The crowd went wild—cheering their candidates on. Indeed, fire and blood are the philosophy of the House of Targaryen as candidate no. 3 fiercely slayed the swimwear category and took home the title of Best in Swimwear Attire in the female category. While candidate no. 2, Angelo Cabang of the House of Martell surpassed the other houses as Best in Swimwear in the male category.
Candidates left the crowd in awe as they parade their creative attires; each representing their very own houses.
Charlene Vargas and
Candidate no. 1, Gabriel Paul Funtelar of the House of Greyjoy, and Candidate no. 8, Nicole Jane Romero of the House of Baratheon captured the hearts of the people as they won the People’s choice award for the male and female category, respectively. As the night was coming to a close, the anticipation of the crowd made the ambiance heavy and heated as the question-andanswer portion commenced. The question that tested the wit and intellect of the contenders was “How will you show sports manship if you found out that you have been cheated in a certain sports event?”
Gabriel Paul Funtelar of House Greyjoy was finally declared as Mr. SCUAA 2022, while Rica Jane Peñalba joined him as Ms. SCUAA 2022. Meanwhile, Reymark Golpeo of House Baratheon and Arvia Mae Sarte of House Martell were named Mr. and Ms. PASUC Sorsogon City. In the end, though, only one couple could sit on the Iron Throne. Crowned as Mr. and Ms SorSU 2022, the people welcomed their new king and queen, Kim Marvin Laguidao of House Baratheon and, from House Martell, Charlene Vargas.
As the night drew to a close, House Greyjoy had not forgotten. Three cheers to the brave ladies and gentlemen who raised the banner high for Greyjoy: Lady Mary Joyce iolata, Lady Shaina Jalmasco, Lord Gabriel Paul Funtelar and Lord Andrei Hicarte.
Remember, House Greyjoy does not sow. We only reap victories! Intrams is coming.

State University finally opens its stage for the LGBTQIA+++ community to exhibit their freedom to express and walk their beauty in the Mx. OLYMPUS 2022, SorSU’s first ever LGBTQIA+++ pageant.
It is an announcement that this moment has finally won against the battles of doubting the rights of the community, into recognition and progress.
In the event, candidates were given the opportunity to project their stances concerning the controversies in gender identity. They demonstrated their intelligence by responding to the question:
“Mental health issues are sometimes stigmatized in the sports world for a variety of reasons, and one challenge of the LGBTQIA+++ community is also stigmatized in society. How do you think the stigma can be best addressed? What can athletes, coaches, and managers in sports do to fight this stigmatization?”
Candidate no. 8, Mark Ajel Jetomo Lagsit of House Targaryen’s creative attire is inspired by Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom and Battle Strategy. Candidate No. 8, like Athena, used her wisdom in designing her own costume as a battle strategy to win the title of Best in Creative Swimwear. She also received the Best in Uniform award.
Kathraine Zane Gualvez Sia of House Targaryen, like her Goddess inspiration, Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, made everyone adore her. Subsequently, has made her garner the People’s Choice award. Love Jintalan of House Martell was the one to ever take home the first ever crown for Mx. OLYMPUS 2022.
Vhana de Jesus is inspired by Hera, the Queen of Mount Olympus. She took home the awards for Best in Production Number and Best in Long Gown. Moreover, she brought pride to House Greyjoy for being one of the top placers, in spite of her being a first timer. Once again, Greyjoy do not sow, yet they reaped triumphs.

else but Christmas, when it is going to be all about love and giving, and that even if you are at the school’s setting, where you thought it was only going to be about studying.”
Christmas is the season of giving. Christmas is really magical, especially for children. Sweets and delights were given to people during
the event. It is incredible how one single candy can actually make people’s hearts melt with happiness. It does not really matter how small a gift is. It is the thought that counts.
‘Tis the season to be jolly because tonight’s the first-ever Christmas celebration of Sorsogon State University!
Christmas lights in the university’s entrance twinkle like the stars in the night sky. Performers wearing traditional Filipino clothing sway to the rhythm of Christmas carols. SorSUeños are in awe as they watch the firecrackers be set ablaze and illuminate the sky. It is evident on the faces of SorSUeños that they are delighted to witness and participate in this momentous event.
The SORSU Christmas lighting served as a kickstart for the Christmas season for students. The lockdown due to the pandemic had made it difficult for such an event to take place. The occasion was short in time but it was like a long taste of
It’s like ushering in a new year by celebrating a joyous Christmas. SORSU’s efforts were evident in the successful performances and decorations. “I saw how much effort ang binigay ng SORSU starting from decorating the campus up until sa mismong event.”
As the event drew to a close, a magnificent fireworks display lit up the night sky. “I enjoyed the Christmas lighting, especially the fireworks show.” It was the main highlight of the night for most students who were present at the event. The event made students feel the spirit of Christmas through the performances and fireworks display, especially the people who were present at the event has been a part of that feeling.
Each student had a genuine smile on their face. Some went alone, while most went with friends or their special someone. It serves as a temporary distraction from the students’ schoolwork.

By:Sorsogon State University is an institution that conferred the degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering to Engr. Christian Lagsit in 2020, for which he is now working as a site engineer at center ways.
It was an incredibly meaningful experience and something I will forever cherish during the course of my life. After college, there are several ways to make a mark as an adept engineer in the field. Of key importance are the abilities to plan, monitor, and evaluate results. We need to focus on them, pay attention to them, work hard and efficiently, and take in all the information that is accessible if
we are to attain these sorts of talents as students in college.
The talents and skills acquired through hard work and integrity have guaranteed the buildings, the machines that helped build skyscrapers, and many possibilities that are what have shaped how the world is today, all of which are products of these. We are led to visualize what it is to be in the field of engineering after graduating from college and be ready to commit to that profession. You should be able to be told that you are ready to practice engineering in the actual world as soon as your engineering diploma is received.
Frequent cheers of the audience. Intense dance routines. Performers danced for a limited time. It is the type of culminating activity that hyped the College of Engineering and Architecture before going on a Christmas break.
The Dance Exercise Competition, held at Sorsogon State University Engineering Campus covered court and spearheaded by PATHFit Instructor Miss Joan Herrera, was joined in by first-years of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics Engineering as a fulfilment for their final
performance in PATHFit 1. Each performing section must perform a dance exercise with a duration that must not exceed 5 minutes but not less than 4 minutes.
The anticipation alongside anxiety that filled the hearts and heads of the performing students intensified as the competition began. The culmination was started by the welcoming of the two first year students from Mechanical Engineering, section 1C. They are Bon Andrey Hapa and Nathaniel Callos who captured the right energy to handle the culminating activity.

The opening prayer, flag ceremony, singing of Sorsogon State University Hymn, welcoming of the judges, presentation of the criteria was also held before the official start of the presentation of the performances.
As for the fairness of the sequence of the performing sections, a draw lot happened before the culminating activity. The section A of BS Architecture picked the number 1 thus, they are the first performing section to execute their dance exercise. The performances ran based on the result of the draw. Every performance was entertaining and interesting all the way to the last performing section.
After the performances of all sections, the agitation in the atmosphere of the covered court once again built up as everybody was relentlessly and impatiently waiting for the announcements of the winners.
But before the announcements of winners happened, there were moments of appreciation for the judges for their attendance and unbiased and wise judgement as they were honoured with garlands, certifications and gifts. All of the performing sections were as well awarded with certificates of participation. It was a satisfying payment for the efforts exerted just to give impressive and impeccable presentations for judges and audience. The PATHFit Instructor Miss Joan Herrera also gave her words of acknowledgement to those who are involved and made the program possible. She was also awarded for her excellence as an instructor and her management of the event held.
After the moment of appreciation, the moment being looked forward to by everybody has approached. It made the excitement constantly reaching the peak. The crowd were screaming severely, hyping for their own sections or the sections they like the most to win.
Even though all sections are deserving of the win, there were only three places for the best performing sections: the 2nd place, 1st place, and the Champion.
Coming in second place is the BS Civil Engineering 1A. Indeed, their dance exercise is one-of-a-kind as they incorporated the segments of an exercise. Their sequence was from the warm-up up to the cool-down. They also considered the floor as they performed floor choreography in their routine. Their transitions from formation to formation were also one of the best. The mastery of the dance was also evident among the members. They are truly a deserving section of the second place.
The first placer of the culmination came also from the BS Civil Engineering. It was section 1B. It was their groove, energy, and synchronization that lit up their performance. Their choreography was also impactful, full of remarkable movements and filled with a compelling vibe. Indeed, it was truly a performance and a dance exercise that everybody will definitely enjoy. It was worthy of 1st place.
Lastly, the greatest of all, the section who outperformed every other section was the BS Mechanical Engineering 1C. It was their presence, energy, and joyfulness while performing who
outshone the performances of the other sections. They have also incorporated most of the criteria. It was like a whole exercise. The incorporation of exercise mats did have an impact on their win. Every person in the crowd truly enjoyed their entertaining choreography. Thus, no wonder they came to be the Champion of the competition.
The event was not only a competition for first-year engineering and architecture students, but also an opportunity for them to have fun and showcase their talent. Students have danced to a variety of music. The students' joy was palpable as they danced. This event focused not only on the awards to be given, but also on the joy of the students. Cheers of joy could be heard whenever students performed a different choreography.
The physical strain that the students went through while creating their dance was well worth it. Their smiles demonstrated how much they treasured the event's memories.

Books and plays and movies, papers and theatre and cameras, life is taught everywhere but surviving life alone cannot be taught.
As the night goes by, deepens by the clouded thoughts, tormenting whose not in shape, we are all a survivor that no one knows how we’ve ever survived.
It cannot be told that because we are strong and brave, no words and phrases and poems could hardly put up to it.
Life is taught through experience and only by it, no exceptions.
To think and to love and to exist is no one responsibility, but it is somehow became the momentum and started the patriarchy that to live poorly is all, by yourself, your fault and no one is no one’s responsibility but yourself alone.
Time takes prizes and bring champions, for whom we shall praise? To ourselves or to one another?
Let it be bold and loud, candid and substantiate, things are frozen if we only want the thrill.
But how are we going to counter our own, if we knew from the start, we are not the realist person for ourselves?
A question to talk about and a life to figure out, what do you prefer? Perhaps there is no difference after all.
Let yourself pick the prize and enjoy the daylight because life, just like sunsets, profoundly mesmerizing, but as well as full of goodbyes and so.
By: Haliya.Ni.BulanIn the middle of my murky night A nightmare came that I didn’t count Fears shivered down in my chine and veins I bawled for help, in agony and pain But no one came to heed and save
I want the sun to rise But I can’t do anything about I screamed out loud in ache Did you hear it well and clear? All I can sense now is the torture in my heart and breathe
In the four corners of this dungeon Darkness blinded my vision In a flash, light surrounded my sight Something appeared in my fore, a mirror I was shocked in horror seeing myself ridding her own life
I hated and mocked her For the destiny that she preferred I wanted to run away like a thief and hate all the people I’ll meet I can no longer hold this suffering I want to be free from the chain
Falling into the coldest floor I realized no one will accept my honesty and soul However, I felt someone lift me in the air Hope rises even though my body is still in vain I thought no one could hear my pain That no one could save me from this bloody rain
But he taught me how to forgive and love His heart is clean and pure as a dove He ushered me on the right path now, I am safe in his arms
I stood there watching. I followed how the breeze flew through his hair. The way it revealed his smiling face against the sunset, I would love to live forever just to see how genuinely happy he is right now.
But as soon as the sun set, he disappeared just as the moon engulfed the whole land. I feel regret. I could have done something. I could have made a wiser decision. I could have stayed.
The night rolled painfully slowly. There were a few signs of night life, and it showed how dead the night was. I stood unwillingly just to pass the night. I remained motionless, but it continued to move. I hate how I can't control such things. I feel so useless.
I felt a sting in my eye. I opened it to see streaks of sunlight over the horizon. The sun's rising!
My vision wanders. I have to find him.
I whipped my head in that direction. There, right in the middle of the calm shore, stood a man. I felt special. I felt alive. I felt... loved.
Slowly, my view of him disappears. I wore my smile as he disappeared from my vision. I feel contented to see him for even just a moment before another day starts.
The sun is setting. This was the time of the day that we loved the most; the sunset. I missed all of our time spent watching it. I longed for it to happen again. I wished she could be right here with me. I hoped I could have been there. I... I regretted everything that had happened. I regret everything except her.
I tried to laugh. Memories of her flashed into my mind. Oh, I love her so much. I love you so much, my sweet Stella.
Spending the night without her again. I grieved for her every night. I could have done something. I should have done anything. I could have done more. I could have saved her. I would have followed her everywhere, but I won't. We made a promise. She may have broken hers, but I won't.
"There," I gazed up above. It shimmered just like always. "My Stella."
I may have lost her, but I
knew what a warrior she had been for the 10 years we were together. She survived for 19 years without me by her side, and another 10 years living for herself with me by her side. She struggled with depression for most of her life. I knew how she wanted to live for me and for herself, but it won. She committed suicide.
I regret everything. I should have been a better husband. I should have been a better friend. I should have been a better partner for her. I could have done much better. I regret everything. But maybe it's for the better. I wouldn't want her to live every day with me, struggling to get through another day.
"I won't die, I promise."
"You have to live for me, okay?"
"I promise, but promise me also; live for yourself."
I will live for you and for myself, I promise. Until we meet again, Stella.
The sky thundered and heavy rains deluged the town. I was sitting on a chair at eleven by the window, with glistening eyes staring outside, listening to its decompressing sound. The night grew deeper and so are my odds and ends. Like a forlorn wanderer far from home, that once blithesome girl lost her felicity.
Silence was broken when the clock struck twelve. Uneasiness slowly caught me, and in that moment, everything came back — still very lucent. Memories haunt me until now, imprisoning me up on my own fear, suffocating me with every breath.
A friend met me at my gloomiest and stayed, accompanying me. I never felt alone since then. I vividly remembered how my eyes widened as he waved at me. At that moment, the earsplitting shouts became whispers and everything felt at ease.
Such an alluring scene it was. What came to me — I didn’t know its name. As we walked side by side and was almost at the end, this “friend” gave its brightest yet saddest smile. Its words were off yet somewhat comforting. “Close your eyes. This is your demise.”
without intramurals, the COEA and COT finally faced each other again in basketball. These two colleges had a long history of being rivalries in the said sport. COEA, as the defending champion, had to earn for its keep.
At the first game of the elimination round, they met as they fought head-tohead. Janvincent Taladtad showed skills as he contributed 13 points to COEA. Keeping up with him were Kenneth Lagata, Estelito Jarabo Jr., and Reynaldo Rosales. First quarter ended with a deadlock, 14-14.
On the second quarter, Dan Alejandro Mactal and Jason Domiquil thrusted through advancing to 32-29.
Halftime definitely
charged Mark Ivon Lopez and Andre Bergantinos (of COT) as they owned the third quarter, scoring most of the 23 quarter points of the team. Although Taladtad and Lagata tried to keep up, they were behind three points as the third quarter concluded.
COEA’s efforts sure paid off on the last quarter as the momentum was on them. Rosales set sight on the court as he was swept midair and landed poorly, resulting in a mild head injury. COT was fixed at 67 as COEA continued to pave its victory to 74.
“Sana magtuloytuloy hanggang championship because deserve ng mga tagaBaribag ang mag-champion. Also, magandang laro ang naipakita ng both teams. Nakakahype talaga ng crowd kapag COEA at COT ang naglalaban. Alam ko naman na gagawa sila ng paraan para maka-advance sa championship round. So, I'm expecting for the best outcome for them,” he added.
Jan Vincent Taladatad
“COT is always known to be a strong opponent, so we’re delighted that we won today’s match – it boosts our morale. It was a team effort; everyone contributed well, and some certainly stepped up. Short preparation yet it was a good outcome.”Kacy F. Mendizabal
Russell Fulo chipped in another gold for COEA after winning against one of the aces of COT, Leopoldo Belardo Jr., in the badminton championships of the Intramurals 2022.
It was raining heavily, and it sprayed on the venue, making one side of the court quite moist. Fulo got the advantage to pick his court side at the start of the game. However, his passionate attacks were
tremendous spikes and deceiving serves propelled with a strong sense of teamwork and determination, the outstanding COTED notched the victory over COEA in an exhilarating two-set volleyball match, 2520, 25-18, at the College of Engineering and Architecture Campus, Baribag, Sorsogon during intramurals 2022.
As the first set got underway, Paul Jareño of COTED managed to score while perched on top of the thunderous spikes of the duo of COEA, Caesar Laban and Harvey Españo, as COEA led the set, 5-2. However, the valiant COTED remained intact as Jareño showcased his blazing hot spikes along with his sticky and exquisite placements
By: By:still countered with Belardo’s sly drop shots. With an intense seesaw battle, Fulo managed to win the set by the nose, 21-19.
Their persistence was shown as they endured the slippery floor. Fulo lost control, and with Belardo on the better side of the court, the set ended with 19-21 in favor of Belardo.
The game intensified during the last set where both were observed to be exhausted and pressured to take gold. Belardo seemed to have lost his momentum and Fulo prevailed as he ended the game, 21-15.
The power duo of COEA, John Mark Labastida and Zeth Harvey Cadag triumphed over CBM representatives, James Ivan Sentelices and Jhon Homer Galos, during the finals of badminton doubles men’s category bringing home the gold for COEA during the Intramurals 2022.
The intense match started with the rain exchange of drop shots and placings by Cadag and Sentelices. Effective rotations by both teams enabled a seesaw set with COEA on top, 21-29.
During the second set, Labastida struggled to exert power to smash due to muscle pain. On the other hand, CBM managed to maintain their combined precise placings and potent attacks, snatching the second set, 16-21.
For the last set, Cadag and Labastida regained their momentum finishing the do-or-die championship match, 21-15.
The rivalry between the teams created the highlight event of the game as both exerted their best efforts to survive the match. Their signature moves impressed the spectators as they also showed their true sportsmanship conduct to each other.
that diminished the gap, 9–10.
COTED once again prevailed courtesy of Jedi Dob Jr.'s incredible tosses and Ranver Adao's massive spikes. These helped them earn points that led to a 16-14 advantage.
Thus, the invincible COEA flaunted a combination of astonishing spikes and service aces from Españo and Laban that hushed their opponent. Taking back the lead, 18-17, COEA tried to gatekeep their win. The intensity of both teams' play resulted in a number of deadlocks as they continued to respond with solid blocks and vicious spikes. The untouchable COTED stunned their rivals with Jareño's horrific spikes. However, the maneuverable Wendell Galdo of
the COEA proved his worth as he landed a series of wracking services, registering three points that tied the score at 2020. Nevertheless, his attempt to make his team take the lead turned into ashes as it was bombed by oozing spikes and catastrophic blocks by Jareño. COTED nailed set, 25-20.
Bautista shook off the cobwebs, delivering four consecutive venomous services that left the opposing team huffing and puffing over a 6-2 lead. Laban of COEA put on a show of blazing services, 6–10. However, it wasn't enough to halt the COTED’s rampage, 12–8.
Allan Galpo, team captain, was able to highlight his deceptive spikes and
placements, adding points for the COEA. However, Españo committed a number of lapses and errors in services and attacks in which COTED's scores build on, 17-14.
The COEA attempted to close the gap as Laban showcased bluffing placements, but they were unsuccessful due to Jareño's attacks. The COTED unleashed their rapid service aces and blocks that captivated their opponent and paved the victory, 25-18.
According to Jareño, "strong determination, collaboration, and experience" were what enabled them to triumph. Moreover, Galpo stated that COTED's volleyball team was a "powerhouse"

“That was a very close fight and maybe if he didn’t show mercy when I gave him chance balls, he would have won.”

Excellent floor and net defense; powerful attacks and tactical drops; heavy services; healthy physique and stable mind; and greatest of all, impeccable connections between teammates. These are the needed things in order to bring up a good fight in the game of volleyball. Every team did a great job in putting up an entertaining show, but there was only one team who prevailed. The House of Targaryen sits in the first rank and will be battling for gold against the House of Martell, the second in ranking. As for the House of Greyjoy, they dug and received the bronze in their duel against the House of Bartheon in their Battle for the Third.
Around 9 a.m. on November 17, 2022, the Women’s Volleyball officially opened with the first game between the House of Greyjoy, College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA), and the House of Baratheon, College of Teacher Education and Midwifery (COTED). A spike coming from the COEA makes the first point of the match. This had lit the torch of war. Both teams started to get fired up and furious for fight and flight. The first set reached 7-10 in favor of COTED. A three-point deficit experienced by COEA made them call for timeout to slow down the enemy and discuss some strategies to catch up to the score. After the timeout, the momentum changed. The COEA was able to cut down the lead by COTED. It was the COEA who reached the 16-point mark first. They made a 4-point lead against COTED. The scoreboard was 16-12, in favor of COEA, but then the team lied low and committed costly errors that diminished their lead into one. Then the substitution was made by COEA for the betterment. Indeed, it was for the betterment as they regained their lead; the score was 20-16 favoring COEA. Towards the end of the first set, COEA never let COTED get the chance of clutching the set. COEA takes the set, 25-19 was the final score. The second set was of the same story with the first set. The COEA wasn’t still able to make a great start. They were down as much as 5 points, 2-7. The unforced errors are hurting the House of Greyjoy. But as Greyjoy, they were uncontrollable: they tied the game, 8-8, with an amazing attack. Properly after, they were able get the lead and continually
piling it up; making a great boundary against COTED. At the second half of the set, the game gets gut-wrenching as it was filled with great long rallies; showing their attacking prowess and digging abilities. It was also the great reception that enabled the COEA to execute great plays and shots. At the end, it was COEA who prevailed again; winning the match with a final score of 25-20 in set 2. Even though, the start of Greyjoy on both set against Baratheon was a little bit slow, they believe that it is the strong finish that matters the most.
The next game of Greyjoy was against the House of Targaryen, the College of Business Management (CBM). One word to describe the match: thrilling. The match between Targeryan and Greyjoy was filled with tension and nerve-racking moments as both teams showed-off their way of playing, leading them to the third set, a decider. The beginning of the first set was a little slow for Greyjoy as they became behind the Targaryen with as much as 5 points yet, they were able to tie the game with smart hits and service aces targeting the zone 1, 11-11 was the score. But a shift of momentum happened once again as Greyjoy became 5-point deficit. The services and attacks of the Targaryen forced them to commit uncontrollable errors. They tried to play catch-up but they fell short, and it was too late that at the end of the set, it was Greyjoy’s errors that enable the Targaryen to take the set. 16-25 was the score in first set. The second set was for the audience to feel the thrill as Greyjoy ties the ballgame, snatching the second set from the hands of Targaryen. It was the errors of the Targaryen that set the Greyjoy to pursue to take the second set. But at the middle of the set, they were deficit once again. However, as known about Greyjoy, they were successful in playing catch-up because this time, they were able to take the lead and end the set with the 25-21, in favor of Greyjoy. They arrived to an extreme decider; set three was even more intense as both teams exchanged powerful hits and commendable digs. But it was Targaryen who takes the triumphs at the end with 10-15
final score. Greyjoy claimed their first loss.
The third match of Greyjoy was a delightsome duel against Martell, College of Technology (COT). The match also reached to the third set as both teams explodes with great down-the-line attacks, crosscourt shots, and defensive plays on both net and floor. Both teams seem don’t want any ball to bounce on their ground as they are filled with determination to dive and dig the drops. The scores for set 1, 2, and 3 are 25-23, 22-25, 11-15 respectively, and Martell taking the first and third set. In the end, Martell handed Greyjoy their second loss, ranking them on the third.
Due to the 2 losses of Greyjoy, the team fell at the third rank and their chance of fighting for the gold gone away. Instead, they were destined to get the bronze out the hands of Baratheon. It only took two sets for Greyjoy to get the third place against the Baratheon but both sets were definitely of greatness as both teams’ scores were completely close. 25-23 and 25-19 was the final score for set 1 and 2, both in favor of COEA.
One phrase to describe the women’s volleyball team of Greyjoy: a defensive team. It was their domineering digs and dives that enable them to take the bronze in the competition. Their determination to get a hand on the ball in order to prevent it from dropping inside of their court was worthy of a praise. Even though their jump attempts to fight for the championship to get the gold were short, they still managed to bring the bronze in the House of Greyjoy.
After a 5-day-long battle towards victory and sportsmanship, the SorSU Intramurals 2022 concluded on Friday, November 18. A closing ceremony and awarding event was conducted on the last day of the intramurals wherein the College of Engineering and Architecture: House of Greyjoy was declared fourth among the other houses with 37 bronze, 48 silver, and 24 gold medals.
