INDIANAPOLIS BALLET Each semester, Indianapolis School of Ballet holds a free preview performance and interactive dance class for the community at the Indianapolis Central Library. This performance of “Nutcracker Sweets” allows the students to showcase excerpts from their upcoming holiday production while giving the community a chance to see live ballet and costumes up close. After the performance, ISB instructors teach a basic ballet class to young audience members, providing them with an opportunity to move, learn, and be inspired.

Who we are: In May 2017, the Indianapolis School of Ballet took a monumental step towards establishing Indiana’s capital as one of America’s fastest growing artistic and cultural centers with the formation of the Indianapolis Ballet – the first professional resident ballet company to be based in the Circle City in over a decade. Indianapolis School of Ballet remains the state’s premier destination for professional dance instruction—centrally located in the heart of downtown. We pride ourselves on our world-class training, dynamic performances, and excellent placement of our students in elite university dance programs and professional companies across the nation.

How you can help: Your donations are what allow us to further our mission to make this timeless art form accessible to all members of the Indianapolis community. Currently, there are two major campaigns we hope you will consider supporting: • The Indianapolis School of Ballet Education Fund is vital to our outreach programs that benefit children across Indianapolis. This annual fundraising campaign for the Indianapolis School of Ballet supports the Indy Ballet Classrooms program with IPS and provides tuition assistance for current students, salaries that retain excellent teachers, and ongoing support for needed capital improvements. • The Indianapolis Ballet General Fund will drive forward the success of Indianapolis Ballet, the first professional resident company based in Indianapolis in over a decade. This campaign will establish Indianapolis Ballet in the community and build a foundation for success during the company’s crucial early years.

What we do: Focusing on making extraordinary ballet and dance performances accessible to all, the company serves as a home to exceptional talent with local, national, and international ties as well as an inspiration to the next generation of talented dancers growing up in central Indiana. Why we’re important: Indianapolis Ballet helps to complete the cultural landscape of central Indiana by using our love of dance to educate, engage, and interact with the community. Dance offers physical, social, and creative benefits that are easily integrated into an active lifestyle for all ages. Indianapolis Ballet also creates opportunities for ballet dancers to build an artistic home here and pursue their careers without leaving the state. How we affect the community: Our downtown location lends geographic accessibility to the entire state for dance workshops, training programs, public talks, performances, and more. Through annual performances at The Toby at Newfields, the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre, the Arts Garden, Indy Eleven games, the Penrod Arts Fair and more, we provide rich experiences for children and adults and strive to make our community a better place. Our outreach program Indy Ballet Classrooms brings free, hour-long weekly ballet lessons to elementary school students in select IPS and charter schools at no charge to the schools. This program expands participants’ knowledge of and appreciation for the classical art while encouraging physical awareness and fostering creative self-expression in a supportive environment. Select students who show potential and desire are awarded full scholarships to receive formal training at the Indianapolis School of Ballet. Our Young Men’s Scholarship Program provides scholarships to all boys in the Pre-Professional track of Indianapolis School of Ballet. The program exposes boys to the magnificence, athleticism, and expression of ballet.

A gift to these two major campaigns is an investment in the future of the performing arts in our community, the Indianapolis cultural landscape, and the lives of our students. Another easy way to support Indianapolis Ballet is by purchasing tickets to our performances throughout the year. Season subscriptions are also offered before our season officially begins each August. (More information about performances can be reached at our website.) In addition, Indianapolis Ballet offers corporate sponsorships, dancer sponsorships, and volunteer opportunities that support the organization. Indianapolis Ballet 502 N.
