On a blustery winter afternoon, we settled in at a cozy table at a favorite lunch spot, Northside Kitchenette, to begin planning this edition of the Sophisticated Giving Charity Register. We’ve been friends for more than 10 years, and as lifelong Indianapolis residents, this project is dear to both our hearts.

Both of us have a passion for philanthropy and it has been a great joy to collaborate on this guide. The Herbert Simon Family Foundation, led by the second generation of the Herbert Simon family, continues a legacy of giving back and creating opportunities for those in need. Joining together with Sophisticated Living, it is our hope that this publication will be a catalyst to help our fellow citizens transform resources into action, and change lives for the better.

Now in its sixth year, the Sophisticated Giving Charity Register highlights many of the dynamic nonprofit organizations that strengthen and sustain our community through their efforts to feed the hungry, educate children, house the homeless, care for the sick, support the arts, and more. In these pages, we hope you will find one or more initiatives that speak to your heart and win your support. We are so fortunate to live in such an amazingly responsive community, as evidenced by these three new funds dedicated to helping with the COVID crisis: CICF Neighbor Relief Fund for Marion County, which provides resources and support to grassroots organizations working directly to support those affected by the virus; Indy Arts & Culture Economic Relief Fund, which provides rapidresponse grants to help bridge lost wages in the Indianapolis arts community; and Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis Emergency Assistance Fund, which supports clients of Jewish Family Services with needs created by the COVID crisis.

Whether you choose to support one of these initiatives or any of the organizations listed in this guide, we encourage you to donate whatever you can give in time and monetary support, for as recent events have shown us all too clearly, we are all connected and our greatest strength lies in helping one another.

ABBIE HUNT BRYCE HOME Who we are: Morning Central Indiana is becoming a resource hub for hospice services, thanks to Morning Light’s awardwinning Abbie Hunt Bryce Home! The Home is a recognized national leader in providing free living accommodations for hospice patients who have nowhere else to live in their final stages of life. In November 2018, the Home was recognized as the winner of a national Serious Illness Management Innovation award given by Boston University. The work of Morning Light’s leadership team also has been acknowledged as staff in 2019 received the Michael Carroll Award from Prosperity Indiana; a Health Care Hero Award given by the Indianapolis Business Journal; and the Storyteller of The Year from One Cause software, for Morning Light’s coordinated messaging detailing the life-changing care provided at the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home. As 2020 began, the Home became a certified state Medicaid Waiver provider, which creates new opportunities to serve the community and could provide a model for Morning Light to develop other free residential hospice care homes!

How We Affect The Community: In 2019 the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home served its 600th resident since its 2004 opening.

We also helped a record number of people in one year, topping 70 residents for the first time in our history. The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home’s unique mission is much appreciated by the medical community. This allows the Home to focus on those with limited means and to simultaneously work with several hospice and medical providers on individual plans of care.

How you can help: The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home is a program of Morning Light, a non-profit that also operates Pennwood Place, a residential apartment complex for low income seniors. Many Abbie Hunt Bryce Home supporters choose to join the Commitment Circle At The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home, for individual donors who annually contribute $1,000 or more. That amount has traditionally represented one day of operating costs. Hundreds of supporters flock to the annual Beach Ball, a summer party held in early March, and to Rolling For Hope, an afternoon bowling escape/ fundraiser held in mid-August. Details are available at www. morninglightinc.org where one can also make an online donation. Many opt for monthly payments, which increases the impact of the gift!

Many groups collect items from the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home “Wish List” to support a resident’s stay. This can include non-perishable food and daily living/cleaning supplies. What we do: The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home and its staff become the “family” and support system for hospice patients and others who have no appropriate place to live or to receive care. Residents have limited financial means but thanks to the Home they have their own room, meals, and around-the-clock comfort. All this is provided free of charge due to community support. Most residents are enrolled in a certified hospice program, meaning that they have six months or less to live. We accept referrals from hospitals, charitable organizations, physicians, hospice programs, faith-based organizations, and self or family members. There is no charge for hospice patients to live at the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home for those who qualify through their terminal diagnosis and lack of adequate living arrangements. We also can make accommodations under special arrangements with health care providers to provide temporary living accommodations for pre-or post-op patients who need the support of our home-like atmosphere to achieve desired medical outcomes.

THE ACLU OF INDIANA one plaintiff affirms or expands the rights and liberties for thousands of individuals, in Indiana and across the nation.

Through our innovative legal strategy, the ACLU of Indiana has been at the forefront of some of today’s most important civil liberty battles, including stopping a national wave of state-level anti-LGBTQ bills that sought to use religious freedom as an excuse to discriminate, and leading the charge against proliferating unconstitutional restrictions on a woman’s access to reproductive healthcare.

Across the state, we educate Hoosiers on our rights and forge coalitions to advocate for fundamental change. In just the past two years, we have: launched a campaign to empower traditionally disenfranchised communities to exercise their right to vote; strengthened statewide coalitions dedicated to addressing over-incarceration at every level of government; and built an advocacy program that identifies transgender leaders and advocates, equips them with tools to increase public awareness, and changes public opinion on trans issues.

We are not just defending rights in courts; we are buildinglong term public support for our most important civil liberties.

Who we are: The American Civil Liberties Union is our nation’s guardian of liberty, working daily in courts, legislatures and communities to ensure the promises of the Constitution are fully realized. Headquartered in Indianapolis, the ACLU of Indiana is the independent statewide affiliate of the ACLU. A nonprofit membership organization, we do not receive public funds, tax dollars or government support. Our strength comes from more than 10,000 supporters in Indiana whose tax-deductible donations fund free legal services, educational initiatives and advocacy work.

How we affect the community: In Indiana, our work is pivotal. At any given time our five-person legal team manages a docket of more than 50 civil rights cases, protecting everything from the worship rights of people in incarceration, to Hoosiers’ fundamental right to free speech. Because we cannot take every case, we select cases that will have the greatest impact by establishing new legal precedents and protections, or cases that will ultimately represent a wide class of people. AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION IN INDIANA Through our Lung Force initiative, we strive to unite men and women together with their loved ones to stand together for lung health and against lung cancer.

Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer of both men and women in the U.S., and every seven-and-a-half minutes a woman learns she has lung cancer, yet only 2% of women cited lung cancer as a cancer that is top of mind for them.

In Indianapolis, the American Lung Association hosts the Lung Force Glam Luncheon to raise research funding and awareness to defeat lung cancer. We also host the Lung Force Expo every fall, which educates our local lung health professionals as well as lung disease patients and their caregivers. It is our goal to educate everyone on their risks; this involves our tobacco control policy change efforts, Freedom From Smoking classes and Lung Force programs.

Other events allow for individuals, families, companies and friends to honor or memorialize a loved one affected by lung disease, tackle a personal challenge and show support for our mission.

Who we are: The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease, through research, education and advocacy. Our work is focused on five strategic imperatives: to defeat lung cancer; to improve the air we breathe; to reduce the burden of lung disease on individuals and their families; to eliminate tobacco use and tobacco-related diseases; and to accelerate fundraising and enhance organizational effectiveness to support the urgency of our mission. Whether it's searching for cures to lung diseases, keeping kids off tobacco or fighting for laws that protect the air we all breathe, the work of the American Lung Association helps to save lives every day.

What we do: Locally, the American Lung Association hosts special events in the Indianapolis community, offers programs and education for healthcare providers, patients and caregivers, teaches Freedom From Smoking courses and advocates for healthy, smoke-free air for Hoosiers to breathe.

The Evening of Promise Gala, Fight For Air Climb and Lung Force initiative allow all segments of our community to engage with our organization, promote healthy lungs and healthy air, and fundraise for the mission.

How you can help: There is no shortage of ways to become involved with our mission. Why we’re important: For more than 110 years, the American Lung Association has led the fight for healthy lungs and healthy air. Formed as the National Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis, we were the first voluntary health organization in America. We later became the American Lung Association and continued the fight, targeting other threats to lung health. In Indiana, 90 cents of every dollar raised by the American Lung Association supports the mission work. What we do: While most people know us for our research as the largest private nonprofit funder of cancer research, we do so much more to attack cancer from every angle. In 2019, ADL responded to more than 400 hate-based incidents (the equivalent of more than one per day!) across the Midwest. These included vandalism or attacks on houses of worship, studenton-student aggression in schools, race-based acts of intimidation, online threats and more.

Who we are: The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was founded in 1913 to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment for all.

Acts of antisemitic harassment, vandalism and violence are up 48% nationally, and 110% in the Midwest, since 2016. Per the FBI, hate crimes are up by 16% over this same span. White supremacist recruitment significantly jumped by 182% from 2017 to 2018. And perhaps most alarmingly, antisemitism rose by 46% in grades K-12 and by 86% on college and university campuses from 2016 to 2018. This cannot stand.

ARTS COUNCIL OF INDIANAPOLIS artists and arts and cultural organizations. We conducted surveys to assess the economic impact and need. Thanks to the quick generosity of a coalition of funders, the Indy Arts & Cultural COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund raised enough money this past spring to provide more than 800 rapid-relief grants to arts and cultural workers.

Our #IndyKeepsCreating campaign helped promote the innovative ways that our resilient creative community not only inspired and connected people through virtual experiences but served broader human needs, including creating visually impactful public service campaigns, delivering art-making kits to children dealing with school closures, and sewing masks and gowns for health-care workers.

Who we are: The Arts Council of Indianapolis is a nonprofit established in 1987. We want everyone to enjoy and engage in the local arts and cultural scene, whether that means a music festival, a community art fair, a major museum or gallery exhibition, a fashion show, an opera, a play, an arts education program, a neighborhood coffee shop mural, or all of the above. Our mission is to ensure a “full creative life for all.”

What we do: We are the chief advocate and service provider to the arts and cultural community of Indianapolis and central Indiana—a community that includes artists, arts and cultural organizations, educators and students, civic partners and stakeholders, and residents. We develop ideas and programs that equitably and effectively serve those audiences, and make sure that our priorities align with their needs. We administer the Annual Grants Program for the city of Indianapolis that provides funding to 70 arts and cultural organizations that serve eight million residents and cultural tourists annually. We organize public art initiatives throughout the city’s neighborhoods.

Through our newsletters, social media, and media outreach, we connect residents and tourists to the different ways they can experience and get to know central Indiana’s creative community. The Arts Council also manages performances, exhibitions, and other events at the Artsgarden and Gallery 924.

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF INDIANAPOLIS How we affect the community: Assistance League of Indianapolis is a recognized leader in supplying services to the underserved in our area. Our accomplishments are done with the efforts of member volunteers, as there are no paid staff or salaried employees. In fiscal year 2018-2019, the members of Assistance League logged over 25,000 charitable hours.

Assistance League of Indianapolis serves a large area ranging from our major city to quiet suburbs. The success and growth of our philanthropic programs is based on 35 years of experience identifying and assessing needs and designing programs that deliver solutions effectively. Following our strategic plan, the organization continually researches, studies, and implements programs that address the emotional, physical, and economic needs of underserved families, regardless of ethnicity or creed.

Who we are: Assistance League® of Indianapolis is a nonprofit, all member volunteer, non-political, non-sectarian organization committed to serving the needs of children and adults through ongoing philanthropic programs developed and managed by its 235 members.

What we do: Operation School Bell® offers new clothing, footwear and supplies to over 6,600 students each year who live in poverty, helping them to arrive at school ready to learn.

There are three divisions of the program: Apparel, Shoes, and Beyond the Bell. We serve students in Kindergarten through 5th grade from the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) and the Metropolitan School Districts (MSD) of Lawrence, Washington, Pike, and Warren Townships.

Assault Survivor Kits® give nurses, doctors, and counselors who treat victims of assault, both adults and children, a way to restore a sense of dignity and hope by providing a change of clothing that can be worn home from the hospital. ALI Bears offer comfort to many traumatized, ill and grieving adults, teens and children. ALI Friends offer companionship and caring for older and disabled adults.

Since 1984, our philanthropic programs have provided: • Over 62,000 receive new clothing and supplies and over 48,307 receive new footwear through Operation School Bell. In addition, 61 elementary schools are given extra school clothing, socks and underwear to be distributed by social workers.

• More than 13,000 Assault Survivor Kits and 16,000 undergarments delivered to 24 agencies • 23,500 teddy bears to give smiles and comfort • 550 older adults enjoyed playing bingo and the gift of friendship

Why we are important: Families of the children who are served by Operation School Bell report that the money they save as a result of clothing supplied to their children allows them to pay for essentials such as housing, food, and utilities.

In our Operation School Bell Shop, the students each select new school clothes, underwear, socks, coat, winter hat and glove set, belt, hygiene supplies, two new books and a duffel bag in which to carry home their new wardrobe. The attire provided to students is often the first new clothing and hygiene items they have ever owned. We know that new shoes are important when we see the ill-fitting and worn shoes we are replacing.

Many assault victims must surrender their clothes for evidence of a crime. Our Assault Survivor Kits supply new, warm garments to victims so they have more than a hospital gown or scrubs to wear home. Our kits provide a change of clothing for victims of domestic abuse who may have left their situation with only the clothes they were wearing.

There are children and adults in area hospitals, hospices and family service centers who need something to fill their empty arms during times of grief and trauma. ALI Bears offer that comfort.

ALI Friends program brightens the lives of people in health care facilities and adult day care centers. Celebrations for special occasions are offered to guests and residents who choose to participate, enjoying games, arts and crafts, music, and healthy treats.

BEST BUDDIES INDIANA corporations and employers about the functional and natural needs and abilities of people with IDD.

Who we are: Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers; secure successful jobs; live independently; improve public speaking, selfadvocacy and communication skills; and feel valued by society. The IDD community that Best Buddies serves includes, but is not limited to, people with Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, Williams syndrome, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and other undiagnosed disabilities.

Best Buddies Indiana has grown to more than 100 chapters statewide, positively impacting the lives of more than 60,000 Hoosiers with and without IDD. Schoolbased Friendship programs and Promoters chapters exist in 25 Indiana counties, and are expanding. Adult friendship programs, called Best Buddies Citizens, also exist in several communities. In the past two years, many integrated employment opportunities have been secured for people with IDD in the Indianapolis area, and our pipeline of qualified employees and employment partners interested in hiring continues to grow. Leadership Development initiatives throughout the state educate and empower people with and without IDD to become leaders, advocates and public speakers.

Best Buddies Ambassadors from all walks of life are trained and available to speak to groups about the inclusion movement and what Best Buddies means to them.

How we affect the community: Through their participation, people with IDD form meaningful connections with their peers, gain self-confidence and self-esteem, and share interests, experiences and activities that other individuals enjoy.

Individuals in our Jobs Program are able to earn an income, pay taxes, and support themselves. Their peers gain a recognition for the value of this population and their gifts and abilities, and the myriad benefits of inclusion.

How you can help: Best Buddies has many rewarding opportunities for involvement: • We are always seeking community leaders interested in serving on our Advisory Board or event planning committees.

• Groups and individuals can help to start new Best Buddies chapters in schools and communities, or become a peer buddy in a Citizen’s (adult) Chapter.

BREBEUF JESUIT PREPARATORY SCHOOL on cultural immersion trips to El Salvador, Belize, New Orleans, Detroit, Chicago, and South Dakota. In addition to Brebeuf ’s service program, charity drives are held each month where the community comes together and collects items to be donated to those in need. For example, Brebeuf Jesuit community will soon kick off its annual Food Drive to benefit St. Vincent de Paul. BROOKE’S PLACE How we affect the community: Since 1999, Brooke’s Place has provided support groups to more than 10,000 individuals.

During the process of healing their broken hearts, our children, teens and young adults also develop essential life skills.

• Brooke’s Place helps decrease feelings of isolation in children: Before attending Brooke’s Place, 40% of children indicated feeling understood by those around them compared to 78% who indicated this after attending Brooke’s Place.

• Brooke’s Place helps children develop healthy coping skills: Before attending Brooke’s Place, 37% of children indicated the ability to express feelings in healthy ways about their loved one who died; after attending Brooke’s Place, 72% indicated the ability to do so.

• Brooke’s Place helps children cope with anxiety: Before attending Brooke’s Place, 38% of children indicated the ability to express their fears and worries in healthy ways; after attending Brooke’s Place, 80% indicated the ability to do so.

Who we are: Brooke's Place provides support groups, therapy services, and community education to empower children, teens, young adults, and their families to thrive in the midst of grief. The death of a loved one can be one of the most difficult experiences of a young person’s life. When a child experiences the death of someone significant, his or her feelings and thoughts may become confusing and overwhelming. Brooke’s Place provides an environment where children and their families have the opportunity to share their stories and begin to heal.

What we do: Children learn to honor and cherish the loved ones they carry in their hearts. At Brooke’s Place, children find that they are not alone and learn to recognize, express and embrace their thoughts, questions, and feelings about grief and loss. Our services include: • Ongoing peer support groups • BP8, community-based short-term support groups • Therapy services for individual or family counseling • Camp Healing Tree, a weekend grief support camp • Community education

Children, teens, young adults, and their families find friends at Brooke's Place who share their pain, friends they can lean on, and friends they can trust with their most personal feelings. Brooke’s Place for Grieving Young People was founded on the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive, understanding and nurturing environment.

Why we’re important: Brooke’s Place volunteers and staff have worked tirelessly toward our vision that children, teens, young adults, and their families living with grief feel supported and understood. Approximately 73,000 central Indiana youth between the ages of 3 and 21 will experience the death of a significant loved one and would greatly benefit from our services. The effects of childhood unresolved grief are considerable; children who experience trauma, including the death of a loved one, are 15 times more likely to die by suicide, four times more likely to inject drugs, and three times more likely to suffer from depression. CAROLINE SYMMES CANCER ENDOWMENT treatments. The causes of most childhood cancers remain unknown and are, at present, unpreventable. Simply put, there just isn’t enough funding for pediatric cancer research.

Because of this, diagnosed children are going without muchneeded treatments, not for a lack of technology, but because of the lack of research and understanding around the cancers themselves. Childhood cancer research receives less than 4% of the annual budget from the National Cancer Institute.

Who we are: The Caroline Symmes Cancer Endowment raises funds exclusively for Riley Children's Health at Indiana University Health. Caroline Symmes was just three years old when she was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor Disease, the most curable type of kidney cancer in both children and adults, with a 90% survival rate. Caroline had one of the most aggressive tumors oncologists had ever seen, and there was little research available on her type of tumor due to lack of funding.

Caroline never cried or complained during her 18-month battle with cancer. With an old soul and a big smile, she simply lived her life to the fullest. Caroline passed away at age five, not because of a lack of technology, but due to the simple lack of research. The Caroline Symmes Cancer Endowment is the gift she leaves behind, so that every child has a chance at the future they deserve.

How we affect the community: There is no better avenue for pediatric cancer research than Riley Children’s Health.

More than 300,000 children from all of Indiana’s 92 counties become Riley patients every year. That means almost everyone in Indiana knows a Riley family. The doctors and researchers at Riley have the passion to heal our children and the science to find answers but need the funding to make it happen. That’s why we need you.

What we do: The Caroline Symmes Cancer Endowment supports the Precision Genomics Program led by Dr. Jamie Renbarger, funding a Pediatric Non-Central Nervous System (Non-CNS) Solid Tumor Program with a goal of eight million dollars. The endowment has raised 3 million dollars since 2011, but there’s still a long way to go in funding this program.

The Pediatric Non-CNS Solid Tumor Program’s cuttingedge genome-based research enables physicians to move beyond just identifying the location of the cancer within the body to understanding how the cancer interacts with the unique genetic characteristics of each child and pinpointing the safest and most effective medication for the child’s condition.

Who we are: The Center for the Performing Arts is a nonprofit organization responsible for the operation and programming of a multidisciplinary performing arts campus in Carmel, Indiana. The facilities include the Palladium, a state-of-the-art 1,600-seat concert hall; the Tarkington, a 500-seat proscenium theater; and the Studio Theater, a versatile black box with a seated capacity of 200. Fall Gala and The Christamore House Guild’s Book and Author Benefit Luncheon. The proceeds from these events support The Christamore House Guild’s Scholarship Fund. Our scholarships are designed to offer supplemental college aid to students from the Haughville area. Who we are: The Christamore House Guild, founded in 1908 by Martha Stewart Carey, is a nonprofit organization that raises money for the Christamore House through various fundraising efforts.

What we do: We are dedicated to providing volunteer services and financial support for the activities and programs of the historic Christamore House Family and Community Center. The Christamore House provides the very best in child and youth educational services, senior programming and life-skills training for residents of Haughville and the near-westside of Indianapolis. COMMUNITY HEALTH NETWORK FOUNDATION health outcomes and access for the community. Today, we continue their endeavor, and success can be seen in the outcomes of real patients. It’s in the woman who exchanged a needle for the opportunity to breastfeed her newborn. It’s in the pride of a middle-aged man who has found a way to become dependent on himself, rather than on others. It’s in the shy smile of a fourth-grade girl whose new glasses let her see the teacher, so she can strive to become one herself.

DAMIEN CENTER Why we’re important: Ever ything at the Damien Center is focused on preventing the spread of HIV and empowering people living with HIV to flourish, which leads to them living longer, healthier, and more productive lives. Particularly during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, people with HIV are more likely to experience health complications, economic insecurity, and other risks to their security.

Who we are: The Damien Center’s mission is “to empower communities and persons affected by HIV/AIDS in the state of Indiana by being a leading resource, provider, and advocate for comprehensive HIV/AIDS care, prevention, education, and related services.” This has been at the heart of all we do for more than 30 years. Founded in 1987, the Damien Center is now the largest and oldest provider of services to the HIV/AIDS community in Indiana and for those at highest risk of infection.

How we affect the community: Now more than ever, people who are HIV+ need a conduit that ensures they have access to the resources they need. The Damien Center ser ves more than 4,000 Hoosiers annually through our HIV prevention and care services. Your support not only helps us continue delivering premium services but expand the services our organization offers so that we can create a future where HIV no longer exists in our community.

What we do: With its one-stop shop, Damien Center is a home for all the services that people living with HIV may need.

Services, which can be accessed remotely or in person, include: • Medical Services. The Damien Cares medical clinic provides premier, high-quality healthcare to improve patients’ overall health and decrease the community’s viral load.

• Pharmacy. An onsite pharmacy means that patients have immediate access to their prescriptions and do not have to risk delays or long rides on public transportation.

• Counseling Services. Dedicated and trained counselors provide mental health, substance use, and group counseling.

• Testing and Prevention. A free and confidential HIV and STI testing center open to everyone in the community. We also offer PrEP and PEP, HIV prevention medications. In addition, CLEAR Counseling provides risk-reduction counseling for both HIV+ and HIV- individuals.

• Food Pantry. Convenient, pre-packaged, and nutritional foods are provided to help HIV+ individuals maintain a healthy diet.

• Housing Services. Safe, stable, and affordable housing gives our clients the best chance to adhere to treatments and enhance their quality of life. We offer short-term and long-term housing options.

• Linkage to Care. The Linkage to Care team engages new clients in HIV care to ensure they can access the help and services they need.

• Care Coordination. This free, comprehensive, specialized case management helps patients with medical referrals, transportation, health insurance, financial assistance, and other needs.

EXODUS REFUGEE IMMIGRATION How we affect the community: Exodus engages the central Indiana community in the global humanitarian work of offering protection and opportunity to refugees. Despite the adversity they have experienced, most refugees who make their home in Indianapolis are eager to engage the challenges and opportunities that the United States offers in order to make a better life for themselves and their families. By having their basic needs met during the core resettlement period and beyond, Exodus clients are able to establish new lives and contribute to the community. More than 100 companies partner with us to employ refugees because they value the diversity, skills and strong work ethic they bring to the workforce. Refugees enrich our community as homeowners, employees, business owners and civic leaders. We are proud to be a part of creating a welcoming, inclusive and diverse Indiana in partnership with our fellow Hoosiers.

Who we are: Every day, millions of courageous persons flee their homelands due to unimaginable persecution. They seek refuge and human rights in other places around the world, including Indianapolis. Since 1981, Exodus Refugee Immigration has welcomed refugees to Indianapolis and offered them a place to call home. We began our work serving Cuban refugees who had arrived as part of the Mariel boatlift in 1980. Since that time, Exodus has helped thousands of refugees from more than 50 different countries establish new lives in Indiana.

As an independent, non-sectarian, 501(c)(3), and nonprofit agency, Exodus is part of a network that works with Church World Service in the resettlement of refugees. Our board of directors, staff and volunteers are passionate about securing the dignity and human rights of people around the globe.

What we do: Exodus provides a wide range of services and programs to meet both the immediate and long-term needs of refugee newcomers. We arrange for basic needs such as housing, food and clothing, and case management, as well as provide adult English classes, employment services, a mental wellness program, a women’s program, a youth program, immigration legal services, and more. Our primary goal is to provide refugees with the skills, information, and support they need to be successful in their new lives in the United States. In 2019, we welcomed 394 new refugees from 11 different countries, including Burma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, Sudan, Guatemala, El Salvador, Syria, and Afghanistan, while continuing supportive services to hundreds of refugees who already call Indiana home.

FACE LOW-COST ANIMAL CLINIC How we affect the community: Since opening in 1999, FACE has performed more than a quarter of a million spay/neuter surgeries, which has contributed to a 90% reduction of euthanasia in our community. Last year, FACE served the needs of nearly 26,000 dogs and cats, along with their families. In 2019, FACE served the community by: • Performing 8,415 spay/neuter surgeries for owned and shelter animals • Welcoming 15,476 visits to the vaccine/wellness clinic • Serving more than 2,064 feral and outdoor cats through the community cat program • Placing 124 dogs and cats in loving homes

Who we are: FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic (FACE) exists to provide affordable spay/neuter, vaccination and wellness services for the Indianapolis community to prevent the unnecessary euthanasia of dogs and cats.

What we do: FACE addresses the root causes of pet overpopulation and surrender by providing affordable spay/neuter services, vaccinations and wellness care to dogs and cats. Clinic programs include: 1) Affordable spay/ neuter services to reduce pet overpopulation. 2) Affordable vaccinations to keep the pet population healthy. 3) Low-cost wellness care to serve as a safety net and reduce the number of pets surrendered at area shelters. 4) Trap-neuter-return for outside cats to reduce the number of stray and feral cats in the community. 5) Foster and adoption services for community cats unable to return to a life outside. Our guiding principles inform our work and programs: • We believe animals enrich our lives and all people deserve the opportunity to experience that joy.

• We need to provide affordable resources for low- and moderate-income residents.

• We believe establishing services for companion animals and their families is vital to becoming a no-kill community, which will make Indianapolis a happier, healthier city for all residents.

• We believe that Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the only humane way to manage stray and feral cats, and will result in reduced shelter intake and euthanasia.

We accomplish this mission by delivering engaging , empowering programs to nearly 3,000 girls annually at over 60 outreach locations. Girls Inc. Indy was established in 1969 after three local mothers identified the need for a safe, healthy environment where their daughters could learn, grow and develop. In addition, we host a four-week annual summer camp, Eureka!, a five-year STEM intensive program, and Young Women in Leadership (YWIL), which focuses on college and career preparedness and leadership development for high school girls.

Our programs empower girls to focus on their education, to do well in school and to develop positive relationships with their peers and teachers.

Why we’re important: The Girls Inc. experience equips girls to navigate economic, gender and social barriers, and to grow into healthy, educated and independent women. Who we are: Founded in 2007 by five-time Grammy Award nominee Michael Feinstein, the Great American Songbook Foundation is affiliated with the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana, and is headquartered at the Center’s flagship venue, the Palladium concert hall. The Foundation’s mission is to inspire and educate by celebrating the Great American Songbook — the timeless musical standards of pop, jazz, Broadway and Hollywood.

The Foundation is a Cultural Affiliate of the Los Angeles-based Grammy Museum®, one of only five institutions worldwide to share that distinction. The affiliates collaborate on exhibitions, educational initiatives, research programs, internship opportunities, technical support and more.

Why we’re important: The Songbook Archives & Library attracts scholars and musicians from around the world to view historic sheet music, arrangements and other materials. Because many of these items are one-ofa-kind artifacts in fragile condition, the Foundation has begun the process of digitally preserving its collections and making them available online. Why we’re important: Every 36 hours a baby in Indiana is diagnosed with hearing loss. Progressive hearing loss is significantly more common (e.g., one in five teenagers will fail a hearing screening). At Hear Indiana, we believe that even one child without language (whether visual or spoken), is one child too many. Hearing loss is a neurodevelopmental emergency. Without access to sound or a visual language at the earliest possible moment, a child with hearing loss will quickly fall behind his/her hearing peers.

With today’s technology, deaf and hard of hearing children can learn to listen and speak. At least 75% of the families impacted by this diagnosis choose to communicate with their children via Listening and Spoken Language.

Who we are: Independence Academy is a state-accredited, private, non-profit school for children in Grades 4-12 on the autism spectrum. Susan Le Vay and Ruth Padgett, mothers of sons with autism, shared a vision of a school that they could not find anywhere in Indianapolis. They envisioned a school that would challenge students academically, without overwhelming them, and incorporate necessary life and social skills every day. Our school was created by the determination and love of these two amazing women.

How we affect the community: We help our students to become important and contributing members of society. At the same time, we work to educate the larger community on what it means to be on the autism spectrum. We have amazing students who are incredibly talented but oftentimes need a little help putting the puzzle pieces of autism together.

We believe in our students and know the astounding success they can have when given the right support. We are working hard to get our message out into the community and to welcome students who need a very special school like ours.

What we do: We inspire and enable students with highfunctioning autism to achieve their highest level of independence and academic success. We have a very low student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1 and educators who are passionate about teaching students with autism. Students make progress in a caring and encouraging environment.

Many make friends for the first time and look forward to going to school. We provide a safe haven for students who often feel lost in other educational environments. We give our students a place to belong, a manageable pace, a pride in themselves and a path to success.

Our events within the community have been a long-standing tradition for over 25 years.

Whether it is the Portrait of Wishes Ball, Christmas in the Kitchen at the Hyatt, or Chukker for Charity Polo Match, we have a presence in the city and bring wonderful events to the community.

Who we are: Indiana Children’s Wish Fund What we do: Indiana Children’s Wish Fund grants wishes to Indiana children between the ages of 3-18 who suffer from a terminal or life-threatening illness. The wishes we grant are referred to us by medical professionals and individuals throughout our state. Individuals may refer a child through our online portal; our medical board reviews each case on an individual basis. Our goal is to create a relationship with our families that will last a lifetime.

How you can help: Monetary donations are always appreciated. We are an event-driven organization so attending one of our events or donating to our silent auctions is another way to help. Who we are: Each year, the Indianapolis Art Center offers hundreds of art classes, more than 100 exhibitions in six galleries, the OneAmerica Broad Ripple Art Fair, and an outreach program that takes art to almost 1,000 children in underserved communities. Founded in 1934 as a Works Progress Administration program during the Great Depression, the center has evolved and now inhabits one of Indianapolis' two Michael Graves-designed buildings, which sits on a 9.5-acre stretch along the banks of the White River in Broad Ripple.

INDIANAPOLIS BALLET Each semester, Indianapolis School of Ballet holds a free preview performance and interactive dance class for the community at the Indianapolis Central Library. This performance of “Nutcracker Sweets” allows the students to showcase excerpts from their upcoming holiday production while giving the community a chance to see live ballet and costumes up close. After the performance, ISB instructors teach a basic ballet class to young audience members, providing them with an opportunity to move, learn, and be inspired.

Who we are: In May 2017, the Indianapolis School of Ballet took a monumental step towards establishing Indiana’s capital as one of America’s fastest growing artistic and cultural centers with the formation of the Indianapolis Ballet – the first professional resident ballet company to be based in the Circle City in over a decade.

Indianapolis School of Ballet remains the state’s premier destination for professional dance instruction—centrally located in the heart of downtown. We pride ourselves on our world-class training, dynamic performances, and excellent placement of our students in elite university dance programs and professional companies across the nation.

Our outreach program Indy Ballet Classrooms brings free, hour-long weekly ballet lessons to elementary school students in select IPS and charter schools at no charge to the schools. This program expands participants’ knowledge of and appreciation for the classical art while encouraging physical awareness and fostering creative self-expression in a supportive environment. Select students who show potential and desire are awarded full scholarships to receive formal training at the Indianapolis School of Ballet.

Our Young Men’s Scholarship Program provides scholarships to all boys in the Pre-Professional track of Indianapolis School of Ballet. The program exposes boys to the magnificence, athleticism, and expression of ballet.

INDIANAPOLIS OPERA retirement homes, libraries, family centers, and other public spaces to serve people of all age groups, creeds, races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

In 2019, the Indianapolis Opera engaged in a fourmonth Holocaust Remembrance project culminating in our mainstage production of Brundibar & Vedem.

Throug h this project, IO partnered with various community organizations such as the Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Children’s Opera, and the Indianapolis Artsg arden. This proje ct entaile d various panel discussions with survivors, documentary screenings, a traveling art exhibit, educational programs, a free outreach performance at Beth-El Zedeck synagogue, and two free performances for middle-school students at Newfields. The impact of the Brundibar & Vedem project resonated in the hearts of many as we combat Anti-Semitism and Holocaust-denial in our world and particularly in our community.

Who we are: The Indianapolis Opera (IO) is the only professional opera company in the state, and therefore an impactful cultural resource for the people of Indiana. The Hoosier community benefits artistically and historically from IO’s mission of education, inspiration, and entertainment through the creation and presentation of musical storytelling. Founded in 1975, the Indianapolis Opera is proud to celebrate its 45th season of drama, passion, and art that moves the soul.

What we do: In addition to IO’s mainstage productions of operas and classical musicals, Indianapolis Opera connects to the community through educational afterschool workshops for students and community outreach performances. IndyHumane staff, volunteers, and adoptable animals travel throughout the greater Indianapolis area educating the public on IndyHumane programs and services, responsible pet ownership, and advocating for a more humane city.

Each summer, our youth camps give kids hands-on experience with the animals, as well as age-appropriate shadow opportunities within our shelter, including animal care, veterinary medicine, and more. In 2018, we incorporated anti-bullying and pro-mental health messaging into our youth camp curriculum. Our youth programs teach much more than animal care – kids learn about teamwork, collaboration, and how to be good stewards of their community.

Who we are: We are IndyHumane. We are Indianapolisbased, independent, and donor-funded. Most think of IndyHumane as an animal shelter, but we offer many more services with the goal of creating a more humane Indianapolis.

Since 1905, our commitment to helping central Indiana’s pets in need has never wavered.

What we do: IndyHumane serves the greater Indianapolis area and beyond. We take in homeless dogs and cats, give them the care they need to thrive, and find lifelong matches with forever homes. Every pet who comes through our doors is fully evaluated by our team of veterinarians, canine or feline behavior specialists, and socialized and exercised before they are adopted into their forever homes. More than 600 volunteers donate more than 600,000 hours to a variety of tasks. We rely on volunteers to help keep our facilities clean, spend quality time with animals waiting for their forever homes, administrative tasks, fundraising, events, and more.

More than 400 foster families helped provide housing, love, and medical or behavioral care to more than 1,600 cats and dogs in 2019. Foster families not only help us care for the youngest, sickest, or most vulnerable cats and dogs; they also free up space at the shelter for other animals in need.

We also provide low-cost vaccines, spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, and other preventative care at our two clinic locations, at the shelter on Michigan Road and at our Downtown Clinic on Holmes Avenue.

INDY YOGA MOVEMENT One survey shows that three weeks of yoga instruction resulted in increased calmness and decreased outbursts of anger. Peer recommendation of yoga increased by 70 percent.

Who We Are: Indy Yoga Movement is a nonprofit organization dedicated to introducing the practice of yoga to our youth.

We began in 2013 with a request from Warren Central High School. The positive impact on students was impressive. It became our mission to change young lives through yoga, meditation and mindfulness. Currently we serve 20 schools.

How we affect the community: Yoga is a means to reach our youth in Indiana. Statistics tell us that yoga can make a quantifiable difference in the lives of our children. Yoga offers necessary coping skills to navigate through our present world, and it assists students in understanding and accepting both themselves and their peers.

What We Do: Research proves Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in schools can lead to long-term positive effects in academics, behaviors, attitudes and skills. Yoga is one way to implement SEL. Pure Edge Inc. developed K-12 curriculum to assist yoga teachers in the classroom. Their theory is that before students learn to succeed, they must first learn to focus. The program builds upon three components: Breathe, Move, and Rest. Our dedicated IYM instructors utilize this curriculum to teach yoga in school gym classes. Since 2013, we have taught 4,226 classes in 150 programs to over 25,000 students.

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF INDIANA • to help the children of local families who anticipate overseas assignments prepare for the challenge of an international education

Who we are: The International School of Indiana (ISI) is a non-profit private school offering the midwest’s most distinct academics to students age three through grade 12. Nearly 70% of our 600 students are native Hoosiers whose first language is English and more than 50 other nationalities represented on campus between our students, faculty, and staff. No Indiana school offers a more diverse and inclusive culture.

How we affect the community: Through our promotion of internationalism and commitment to a rich cultural diversity, ISI supports the efforts of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Indy Chamber, and other leading civic and corporate entities to bring global investment, including new jobs for Hoosier workers, to Indiana.

What we do: ISI is the only Indiana school that extends the full-continuum International Baccalaureate curriculum to all of its students from pre-elementary through high school and the only Hoosier school offering full language immersion classrooms in three track languages - French, Mandarin, and Spanish. HELENE G. SIMON HILLEL CENTER AT INDIANA UNIVERSITY Who we are: The Helene G. Simon Hillel Center at Indiana University is the “Jewish home away from home” on the IU campus. Hillel creates a strong and vibrant Jewish community on campus that consists of approximately 4,500 Jewish students. This is more than 12% of the total students on campus. There are eight full-time staff members who are always available to help students navigate their Jewish journeys. We reach at least 1,000-1,500 different students each month at our programs and initiatives, with many of these students attending multiple programs. Hillel is essential to Indiana University and to the growth of the school as a whole.

How we affect the community: Each year, Hillel at Indiana University develops an exemplary group of Jewish students, preparing them to lead the Jewish community. Who we are: The Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center serves as the hub for all cancer research and education activities for medical oncologists across Indiana Universit y. We are Indiana’s only Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute, the nation’s top cancer agency, and one of only 51 in the nation to hold that status. Our collaborative work focuses on reducing the number of new cancer cases and the number of deaths caused by the disease. The IU Simon Cancer Center makes substantial contributions to the state’s life sciences economy. Our new NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center designation, awarded in August 2019, will further enhance IU’s ability to recruit faculty physicians and scientists of the highest caliber who will bring with them highly funded research programs and continue to foster a culture of entrepreneurship in Indiana.

The center’s researchers currently hold 459 grants that total more than $60 million in external funding. Intellectual property filed by IU Simon Cancer Center researchers in the past 10 years includes 402 disclosures, 53 patents issued, 65 licenses, and 12 start-ups.

What we do: The IU Simon Cancer Center is home to nearly 250 scientists who conduct research – research that ranges from understanding the molecular changes that cause cancer to developing targeted therapies to prevent and treat cancer. The discoveries made in our labs are translated into patient care to improve lives. This “benchto-bedside” approach benefits patients as researchers and physicians work together to find better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Who we are: JCRC is the go-to public affairs and intergroup relations organization for the greater Indianapolis Jewish community, serving as a trusted resource for public officials, civic leaders, educators, the media, and other faith and ethnic communities. As convener and advocate, JCRC cultivates the Jewish community’s commitment to Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), providing opportunities for activism, advocacy, and coalition building for the causes in which we believe.

How we affect the community: • JCRC helped lead the statewide effort to pass a Bias Crimes bill in the Indiana legislature, building the coalition from six organizations in 2015 to over 700 in 2019.

• JCRC facilitated community solidarity gatherings in 2018 that brought over 3,000 people together inside local synagogues after the vandalization of Carmel’s Congregation Shaarey Tefilla and the deadly massacre at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue.

• Our “Stand Up! Speak Out!” initiative involves several proactive programs that help Jewish youth learn how to confront antisemitism, bring Jewish teens into high school classrooms without a Jewish presence to talk about what it’s like to be Jewish today (student to student), and help 7th-12th grade teachers teach accurately about Jews, Judaism, Jewish history, and Israel.

What we do: Combat Anti-Semitism:Established by the Indiana Jewish community while the Holocaust was unfolding in Europe, the core of JCRC’s mission is to safeguard Jews here in the U.S., in Israel, and around the world, by combatting anti-Semitism through relationship-building and education. With anti-Semitic incidents increasing in frequency and violence, JCRC launched a series of proactive programs under the title “Stand Up! Speak Out!” to help Jewish families, educators, and allies recognize and effectively confront 21st century anti-Semitism in all its forms.

Who we are: The Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis ( JFGI) is the central philanthropic, planning, community engagement and unifying partner for the 23,500* individuals in the greater Indianapolis Jewish community. THE JULIAN CENTER How we affect the community: On any given day, a member of our team is out in the community discussing our work.

Through our community education, audiences learn how to spot someone who may need assistance, recognize the signs of abuse in their own lives and advocate for someone who needs help. Our community partners include law enforcement agencies, other social service agencies and anyone interested in helping end the generational cycle of domestic and sexual violence. With the help of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, we have established one of the largest domestic violence intervention initiatives in the nation.

Working hand-in-hand with IMPD, we attempt to identify early signs of domestic disturbances that might escalate to a domestic violence situation at a later time.

Who we are: The Julian Center is Indiana’s largest and most comprehensive provider of services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking. We provide a multitude of residential and non-residential services for survivors of every age, gender, race, ethnic background, faith and socioeconomic circumstance. Our mission is to empower survivors of domestic and sexual violence and end the generational cycle of violence. Our vision is to create a community where every individual is safe and respected.

What we do: Although our emergency shelter is the heart of our services, our work reaches beyond the walls of our shelter and deep into our community to transform the lives of survivors and their families. Through individualized plans, we help survivors recognize their strengths and gain the skills and confidence they need to change the context of their lives.

Our services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, community education and outreach, transitional and permanent housing, individual and family counseling, art and play therapy, and assistance with legal service resources. The Julian Center also offers employment readiness, and economic empowerment programs, law enforcement agency partnerships, the Thrifty Threads community thrift shop and a food pantry.

Between 3,000 and 4,000 people receive direct services each year and an additional 3,000 people receive information offering services through outreach efforts.

In 2019 The Julian Center was one of ten organizations designated as a Rape Crisis Center. Specially trained Julian Center staff members are available 24/7 to work with hospital staffs to provide comfort, information and supplies for survivors of sexual violence. Supplies include clothing, food, hygiene items and notes of encouragement from other survivors and volunteers.

How you can help: The Julian Center is a community agency which is able to work best when the community works with us. It costs $11,000 each day to operate the Julian Center shelter and our additional services and programs. Financial contributions fuel our ability to provide direct benefit to those who need it most. In addition, we welcome donations of clothing, household items, furniture, toiletries and other items that can be used by survivors or sold in our Thrifty Threads thrift store. Proceeds from sales directly support the operation of our emergency shelter. We also accept donations of serviceable, lowmaintenance vehicles that we give directly and without charge to survivors who need them.

We’re eager to help individuals learn more about our work through volunteer opportunities at our shelter or at Thrifty Threads.

The Julian Center can also provide a speaker for your group or organization to help educate the community about the prevalence of domestic and sexual violence. Together we can create a stronger community. And we would love to see you at any of the number of fundraising events we hold throughout the year, including our annual Hoops and Heroes basketball game between the first responders of IMPD and Indianapolis Fire Department.

Why we’re important: Domestic and sexual violence is present in every community. Abuse can be verbal, mental, economic, emotional, sexual and physical and happens in households of every race, religion or socio-economic level. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, one in three women and one in four men have been or will be victims of some form of physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

Half of our Julian Center shelter residents are children, and 50% of those children are under the age of five.

More than 87% of those we serve fall below the federal poverty guidelines. For survivors who are able to remove themselves from immediate danger and don’t require the services of our emergency shelter, we provide empowerment and advocacy to help them break free from their abusers. With the financial support of our donors, the Julian Center provides assistance to all of those who need it. And all of the Julian Center’s services are provided at no cost to those we serve.

THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF INDIANAPOLIS evening at Coburn Place for families and kids, cleaned up the garden at Big Car Collaborative, helped to create sensory blocks for children at VIPS (Visually Impaired Preschool Services), and much more. This effort totals over 200 volunteer hour efforts with 30 non-profits each year, which is over $5,000 in wo(man) hours.

Who we are: The Junior League of Indianapolis ( JLI) was founded in 1922 by a forward-thinking group of women.

Nearly a century later, we are still forward-focused on building a better Indianapolis community. The JLI’s mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve Indianapolis through the effective action of trained and dedicated volunteers.

How we affect the community: The JLI plays an important role in our community through our programs and training. Our members are prepared to enact change in an impactful way. You will find JLI members serving on a variety of non-profit boards, working in volunteer and event management, executing some of the city’s most profitable fundraisers, running for local office and generally making the city a better place.

What we do: The JLI is a membership and training organization focused on creating women leaders through effective community action. The JLI looks to partner with organizations whose purpose and/or initiative complement the JLI’s mission and strategic focus. Our current community impact focus is preparing students for academic success.

Community organizations can partner with the JLI in three ways: community projects, volunteer assistance and grants. Through our community projects and assistance grants, we aim to affect Indianapolis for generations to come. We are passionate about improving the lives of children through highquality educational programming. This year, we have volunteer committees working with Arts for Learning and the Patachou Foundation to provide direct help to families and students and other organizations through our community impact projects.

How you can help: Join us! The JLI is active and involved in our Indianapolis community with many volunteer opportunities. Membership is open to all women in central Indiana who are at least 22 years old, and our membership spans to women in their 90s. We have many recruitment events year-round, and new member classes begin in July and January of each year.

Since 2000, the JLI has given over $4.1 million in community assistance and trust fund grants. In our nearly 100year history, the JLI has given over $10 million to civic and nonprofit organization project support through volunteering, partnerships, grants and resources. Each December, the JLI awards over $100,000 to local nonprofits to meet their community needs within a current JLI focus area (currently preparing students for academic success). In 2019, $50,000 was awarded to Big Green, a nonprofit building a healthier future for kids by connecting them to their nationwide network of learning gardens and food literacy programs.

Outside of continuing partnerships, the JLI developed a first-of-its-kind initiative titled, “Around the Community– Around the Clock”, which occurs every April during National Volunteer Month. How can we affect the community: KVML champions social justice and common decency while highlighting the arts and artists of all types (literary, performing, visual, etc. ). KVML works to reduce the suicide rate in Indiana through prevention classes while educating people about free speech and providing a venue for dialogue. Kurt Vonnegut loved knowledge-sharing. What we do: The LLS mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world, provides free education, support and resources, both nationally and locally, to patients, caregivers, families and healthcare professionals. We advocate for policies that give a voice to all blood cancer patients seeking access to quality, affordable, coordinated care.

Why we’re important: The need is critical. Nearly 1.4 million people in North America aminutesre living with, or are in remission from, leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma. Approximately every three minutes, someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Approximately every nine minutes , someone dies.

Thanks to research, survival rates for patients with many blood cancers have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled since the early 1960s. Despite these advances, about one third of patients with a blood cancer still do not survive even five years after their diagnosis, which is why more funding is needed to continue to bring better therapies to patients.

How we affect the community: Early research funded by LLS played a role in advances such as the discovery and development of chemotherapy and bone marrow and stem cell transplantation. More recent research has resulted in new, targeted oral therapies and immunotherapies.

From 2000 through 2019, more than 40 percent of new anti-cancer drugs were FDA approved for blood cancer patients -- more first-ever approvals than for any other group of cancers -- and many of these were advanced with funding from LLS. Some therapies are even helping patients with other cancers and other serious, nonmalignant diseases.

How we affect the community: Our Health Educators currently deliver more than 67,000 educational hours of programming to over 22,000 youth (grades K–10) in 110 schools and summer camps in ten Indiana counties. Who we are: Partners in Nutrition Indiana/Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana

What we do: Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana is more than a home meal delivery service. Meals on Wheels is the only provider of medically-tailored meals to the area’s homebound and chronically-ill community. These meals are prepared by central Indiana’s world class healthcare institutions and delivered each weekday by our volunteers.

How you can help: Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana is privately funded. Who we are: Medi Teddy Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit.

Our mission is to provide comfort to pediatric IV infusion and enteral feeding patients who are often surrounded by scary equipment, unsightly blood products or bags of medicine, and unfamiliar hospital environments.

What we do: We give children who need infusions or tube feedings a free Medi Teddy. A Medi Teddy is a machine-washable, adorably designed teddy bear sleeve that easily slips over a bag of intravenous fluid, blood product, or feeding, hiding it from the child with a smiling face. This US patent-pending product was designed by 13-year-old Ella Casano who has received IV infusions for a platelet disorder every eight weeks since the age of seven. Why we’re important: Reducing fear and anxiety during hospitalizations can improve outcomes and reduce pain. In a recent survey we sent, 94.8% of respondents reported Medi Teddy improved their child’s emotional well-being during infusions, and 44.7% reported a reduction in physical pain. Medi Teddy also provides privacy for infusions on-the-go and can reduce the stress for siblings visiting in the hospital. In addition, parents already have so many medical bills and expenses related to care, it’s important to us that Medi Teddys are given to children at no cost and parents know they are being supported by their community.

NAMI INDIANA and housing agencies. We provide continuing education, training, and policy analysis for those serving persons living with serious mental illnesses and their families.

Who we are: NAMI Indiana is the state organization of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We are a grassroots public charity helping people living with serious mental illnesses and serving the families, friends, and communities who support them.

How you can help: NAMI Indiana relies on volunteers to lead support groups and education courses for families and people living with mental illnesses, as well as decrease stigma. Public Policy committee volunteers work to advocate for legal and system changes. As our programs are peer-led, we rely on volunteers to facilitate our peerto-peer, family-to-family, and other support groups. In Our Own Voice volunteers share their story of living in recovery, talking to various groups and helping end the stigma associated with mental illnesses.

Like all charities, we rely on financial contributions to support our mission. When you give to NAMI Indiana, your donation achieves statewide impact. It allows us to train new program leaders across the state: teachers, support group facilitators, In Our Own Voice presenters, and criminal justice professionals. Why we’re important: The problem: research indicates that as many as one in 17 people–or more than 380,000 Hoosiers–is living with a serious mental illness like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These brain disorders can be debilitating and substantially affect the lives of individuals, families, and our communities.

The g ood news : Serious mental illnesses are biological and treatable, and medication and psychosocial therapy often work. Recovery is possible.

However, there are major gaps in treatment and support in Indiana and across the nation. Community mental health centers and state facilities treat more than 100,000 people annually in our state. Private hospitals and other providers treat more, but private insurance very often falls far short in coverage for treatment and support. There are more people treated for serious mental illnesses in our state correctional facilities than in our state hospitals. Indicators are that only about half of those in Indiana who need treatment are getting it; we must do better. We can do better.

Who we are: Noble was founded in 1953 by families of children with disabilities who wanted to offer their children what society would not -- an education. Since then, Noble has evolved into a community organization focused on one mission: to expand opportunities and enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families through individualized services.

What we do: Throughout central and eastern Indiana, Noble provides an array of services to children and adults with disabilities like Down syndrome and autism. Over 93% of our services are provided in our community within the homes, schools and businesses where the people and families we serve live their lives and dream their dreams.

Our services range from First Steps early intervention therapies for babies and toddlers to employment services for adults. We also support families through Respite, educational forums and advocacy at all levels of government.

OUTREACH Who we are: Outreach exists to provide hope to homeless youth in Indianapolis. Indianapolis is home to hundreds of homeless teens and young adults. Often impacted by traumatic life experiences, homeless youth are looking for support, connection, and a place to call home. At Outreach, youth homelessness is addressed as individuals are encouraged and mentored through a supportive network. We provide care, intentional guidance and access to basic life necessities, which all contribute in building a restored sense of hope for a sustainable and brighter future. By meeting each of our youth where they are and guiding them through the more dire episodes in their lives, Outreach staff equip and empower individuals to achieve stability and experience progressive transformation in their lives. At Outreach, we instill hope through our relational-driven programs, which are designed to effectively create and sustain stability and independence. We provide safety and supportive care by addressing their most basic of living needs.

At the Outreach program center, located on the near eastside of Indianapolis, our homeless youth know they have a safe refuge from the unrelenting pressures of homelessness. During drop-in hours youth have access to laundry facilities, computer labs, a food pantry, shower facilities, and family-style warm meals.

From here, our homeless youth are supported on their journey by case managers who dedicate themselves to helping each of our youth navigate a path to sustainable independence and growth.

Case managers walk with youth in everything from obtaining identification documents, to connecting youth to appropriate skill training, to accompanying youth on doctors’ visits. Providing a safe environment for homeless youth ages 14-24 to foster positive relationships and receive guidance, Outreach provides basic needs such as food, clothing and hygiene, and administrative needs such as employment assistance, obtaining identification documentation, and pursuing education. Each of these are offered in the context of relationships as we journey through life alongside the youth we serve, equipping and empowering homeless teens and young adults to achieve stability and life transformation.

How we affect the community: In 2019, Outreach served almost 500 homeless young people, which resulted in more than 20,000 hours of service. Outreach gives homeless young people a place to call their own and an opportunity to forge a new and stable path in life.

OUTRUN THE SUN Who we are: Outrun the Sun (OTS) was founded as Indiana’s only nonprofit organization supporting skin cancer education and melanoma research. Established in Indianapolis, OTS represents Indiana as a member of the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention (NCSCP) and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Association SunUcate Coalition.

Outrun the Sun has been recognized by the American Academy of Dermatology, the Indiana Cancer Consortium with the Outstanding Contributions to Cancer Control Award, and IUPUI with a Spirit of Philanthropy Award.

Indiana students in Pre-K through grade 12. A homeschool program is also available. OTS offers a sun-safety camp curriculum used at youth camps across America. OTS developed the first-ever “Sun Safety Patch” in conjunction with the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. Today, the patch is being introduced to scouts in 30 states.

Working with the IU School of Medicine, OTS supported an expanded dermatologic curriculum for all medical students (not only those studying dermatology).

Students are trained to detect early stage skin cancer, leading to better patient prognosis. Partnering with the IU Fairbanks School of Public Health, OTS established the Outrun the Sun Scholarship, which will exist in perpetuity. This supports students who study epidemiology with an interest in melanoma/skin cancer.

Teaming with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, OTS supports the largest one-day sun-safety initiative ever established in the United States. Race fans receive sunscreen and UV wristbands at the Indianapolis 500.

IndyCar Series champion Josef Newgarden is the program spokesperson. More than 300,000 fans hear and see sunsafety messages.

Outrun the Sun provides a unique opportunity for the community to engage at its fundraising event STEP UP to the Plate! The event takes place at Victory Field where guests can enjoy a combined Sunset Social and Race Against Melanoma. STEP UP to the Plate! provides something for everyone who is passionate about striking out melanoma and other skin cancers.

What we do: Nearly four million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in the United States annually, making it the most prevalent cancer in America. This year it is estimated that more than $8.6 billion will be spent to treat skin cancers.

The real cost of this disease, however, isn’t calculated in dollars. The true impact is measured in the number of lives lost and the number of families affected. One American dies of melanoma every hour. Outrun the Sun addresses this public health concern by engaging people in sun-safe programs and by supporting melanoma research.

Why we’re important: People living with melanoma and their families have come to rely on Outrun the Sun for support and understanding. Outrun the Sun is combatting skin cancer from every angle: medical research, education and community engagement. Outrun the Sun shares this important message: Protect your skin. Protect yourself.

How we affect the community: OTS has supported 25 researchers nationwide who actively seek a cure for melanoma. They represent top medical institutions, including Harvard Institutes of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, NYU, UC-Irvine, Kimmel Cancer Center, MD Anderson, St. John’s University, University of Chicago, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Wake Forest Medical Center, UC-San Francisco and Indiana University.

OTS is a member of the Indiana Cancer Consortium (ICC), which creates the Indiana Cancer Control Plan.

This includes actions that guide cancer control efforts and promote collaboration among organizations and the citizens of Indiana. Outrun the Sun helped author the Skin Cancer/Melanoma section of “Indiana Cancer Facts and Figures,” the state’s sourcebook for planning and implementing programs for cancer prevention and control, created and published by the ICC. OUTSIDE THE BOX bringing current programming offerings to capacity. As the needs of the community change, so too does the direction for support available through Outside the Box. Because of the need for support designed to help individuals obtain meaningful employment, develop successful peer relationships, and have opportunities to work in settings that are inclusive and supportive of their needs, Outside the Box plans to expand its current program offerings with a trifold approach. We are working to design and create a satellite campus that will afford opportunities for programming aimed at pre-employment readiness, a café staffed by persons with disabilities, and a multipurpose event space which will allow for opportunities for community members to come in and learn about the value of employing and working alongside our program participants. The multipurpose event space and café will also host private events such as weddings, showers and corporate events. It is our hope that the future of support for persons with disabilities continues to focus on inclusion and the celebration of unique abilities and strengths. We are thrilled to evolve alongside a community that has been so supportive of our efforts to impact the lives of the individuals we serve.

Who we are: Outside the Box supports more than 300 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The outcome for all people, whether employees or participants, is that we are immersed in the opportunity for individualized growth. Whether it be in the curriculumbased day program, the creative arts experience of Studio OTB, or our customized employment services, we want all people to be the best they can be.

What we do: As adults, we can choose how we spend our days and with whom we spend our time. For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, days are often spent at local day centers—on activities that may not be engaging or inspiring. Time is spent in large groups with other individuals, and even staff, who likely do not intimately “know” them. At OTB, days are truly customized. Instead of pushing people toward generic programming options, we strive to meet the individual where they are, focusing on their capabilities, not their disabilities. We do this through three programmatic avenues: curriculum-based day programs, Employment Supports, and Studio Art experience.

Why we’re important: OTB’s programs are incredibly unique, as we are one of the only providers in Indiana that matches participants in small groups sharing a bond of age, personality, interests and personal goals, making it possible to assess and to meet the individual needs of participants. OTB is focused on empowering people toward their best lives for our participants, ensuring that participants have the ongoing support and resources to make their own goals and dreams a reality.

OVERDOSE LIFELINE, INC.

Who we are: Overdose Lifeline, Inc. is an Indiana nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to addressing the current opioid public health crisis. Overdose Lifeline, Inc. is the only nonprofit organization in Indiana dedicated to addressing this opioid epidemic.

Since 1999 overdose deaths have increased 570% in our state. However, new data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) show a significant decrease in overdose deaths in Indiana from 2017-2018. This is good news, but a 4% decrease is still not enough. Until we have zero overdose deaths, we cannot give up this fight.

Each day, Overdose Lifeline learns of yet another life lost or another life saved because of the work we do to distribute the overdose reversal drug naloxone.

Overdose Lifeline also supports individuals, families and communities affected by the chronic disease of addiction.

Our programs and initiatives focus on reducing the opioid (prescription pain pill and heroin) epidemic through education, advocacy and support. Justin Phillips, MA, founded the organization in 2014 after losing her middle son, Aaron, to a heroin overdose. Justin is an advocate and a visionary, and has become a national leader and champion in the effort to fight the opioid epidemic. She has been invited to speak at national, regional and local meetings on the topic of prescription pain medicine misuse and heroin use, and was appointed a 2016 Champion of Change by the White House.

Overdose Lifeline developed the highly rated “This is (Not) About Drugs” educational program (overdose-lifeline. org/ education), free to Indiana schools. This prevention program has reached more than 30,000 Indiana youth, helping raise awareness about the risks of misusing prescription opioids and explaining that misuse of prescription opioids can lead to addiction, heroin use and overdose. In addition, we accomplish the following: • Provide over 2,000 free overdose reversal kits to individuals and families annually • Create online self-directed learning programs to ensure that evidence-based approaches are used across communities to address substance misuse and opiod overdose -- courses have continuing education accreditation • Work with the faith community across the state to create communities that understand substance misuse • Support families affected by overdose lifeline through a monthly support group (Lifeline for Loss), the only group of its kind, and Indiana Overdose Awareness Day, a gathering at the State Museum to honor our lost loved ones (August 30, 2020) How you can help: Overdose Lifeline has much more work to do through our current harm-reduction, prevention and education programs to reach more individuals and counties in need. We have a specific to-do list that addresses initiatives critical to reducing and managing this epidemic and helping those impacted. This list needs to apply some of the proven best practices learned from our colleagues in other states. What we do: Overdose Lifeline is the only nonprofit in Indiana addressing the opioid epidemic statewide. Why we’re important: The US is in the midst of an opioid overdose epidemic that impacts every American state, county, socioeconomic demographic and ethnic group. Opioid addiction and overdose do not discriminate; they affect everyone from youth to senior citizens in Indiana cities, suburbs and rural communities. Drug overdoses are the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, with prescription opioids such as Vicodin, Percocet and Oxycontin accounting for nearly half of all overdose deaths. Each day, 185 Americans die from drug overdose, and more than 1,000 are treated in emergency rooms for prescription opioid misuse. The opioid public health crisis is preventable through education and prevention programs and initiatives such as those Overdose Lifeline delivers.

Who We Are: In its 27th year, the Pacers Foundation assists youth-serving organizations in Indiana with an emphasis on providing opportunities and programming for our most vulnerable and challenged young people. Since its formation in 1993, the Pacers Foundation has provided $8.75 million in grants. In the most recent fiscal year, the Foundation awarded $425,000 in grants to 96 organizations statewide. It also awards scholarships annually to Indiana college students pursuing careers in sports medicine, physical therapy or athletic training via the Linda Craig Memorial Fund.

How We Affect The Community: By supporting the many non-profit organizations throughout Indiana that serve our youth, we provide hope and opportunity where it otherwise might not exist. That includes community centers, summer camps, STEM initiatives, boys and girls clubs, addiction treatment centers, after-school activities, anti-bullying initiatives, anti-violence seminars, teen employment and youth mentoring.

What We Do: Grant recipients are awarded to agencies throughout the state, including those in Evansville, Terre Haute, Bloomington, Fort Wayne, Muncie, Martinsville, Columbus and Lafayette. Statewide agencies, such as the Indiana Youth Institute, the Center for Leadership Development and College Mentors for Kids, also receive Foundation support. The Foundation presents the Leadership Together Summit, which brings together area youth and representatives of law enforcement for a day of dialogue and experience sharing. It also sponsors Team Smile, which provides dental screening and treatment to area youth. In addition to annual grants, the Foundation has made two long-term investments. One is to the Indy Parks Foundation for the continued refurbishment of basketball courts throughout the Indy Parks System. The other is to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for support of its Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, which teaches not only music, but life skills and character development for Indianapolis youth. The Foundation also has a Fever Cares fund providing grants specifically to organizations providing programming and support for girls.

PARK TUDOR Across the school, we have forged a partnership with Westminster Neighborhood Services. Our students frequently volunteer at Westminster, working in their food bank and tutoring their peers who are Westminster clients.

Each year, we hold a campus-wide food drive to collect donations to help Westminster assemble Thanksgiving food baskets for their constituents. Our Upper School Advanced Photography students forged an even deeper relationship with Westminster families, providing portraits as part of a “Faces of Westminster” art exhibit.

In the Lower School, families come together for “Panther Kids Care,” a parent-led group that seeks out volunteer opportunities appropriate for students of all ages.

Who We Are: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana What we do: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana provides a home away from home for families of children receiving medical care at central Indiana hospitals. We had the privilege of being able to say “welcome home” to nearly 6,000 families in 2018, helping those families concentrate on what matters most – the recovery and well-being of their child. Ours is a home that helps families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage and joy.

How You Can Help: Donations of time, talent and treasure are all necessary and valued. Our House has an ongoing need for volunteers, with commitments as short as a fourhour shift every other week. On our website, you will find a regularly updated list of material needs for the House such as food and cleaning supplies, and a schedule for group opportunities to provide service or meals to House guests.

Most importantly, Ronald McDonald House needs the generous financial support of our friends in the community.

It costs approximately $105 to operate one of the House’s 52 overnight rooms for one night, and while families are invited to contribute up to $15 a night when they have the capability, no family is ever turned away for their inability to pay.

Why We’re Important: With a staff of 17 and a volunteer base of more than 300, the Ronald McDonald House provides all the comforts and necessities of home for guests. This includes meals regularly provided by guest organizations and access to a fully-stocked pantry, laundry facilities with complimentary supplies, comfortable sleeping rooms and shared social spaces including a game and activities room for young guests, as well as any necessities a family may need. It is often the case that families arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs and the change in their pockets – we work to make sure their most essential needs are met.

The Simon Youth Academy network has a 90% cumulative graduation rate, well above the national average.

This is especially impactful given that the majority of Simon Youth Academy students had either dropped out of high school or were on the verge of dropping out.

Through providing students with the tools they need to earn their high school diplomas and attend college and career training programs, SYF sees students for who they truly are: graduates.

BSimon Youth Foundation (SYF) is a national nonprofit, headquartered in Indianapolis, dedicated to helping students reach graduation day and pursue post-secondary educational opportunities. SYF executes this mission by partnering with local public school districts to launch Simon Youth Academies, through which students at risk of dropping out receive the personalized support needed to earn their diplomas, and by providing Simon Youth Scholarships to students across the country. In 1998, Simon Property Group employees founded SYF to give back to the community.

Since then, SYF has awarded more than $18 million in scholarships, and launched 37 Simon Youth Academy schools in 15 states, helping more than 20,000 students graduate, and generating an economic impact of more than $10 billion.

Simon Youth Academies are public high school programs - located primarily in Simon malls - that give students the same education they would receive in a traditional classroom, but in a flexible environment that emphasizes one-on-one instruction.

Each Simon Youth Academy represents a partnership with one or more local public school districts and is an extension of those districts. Many states do not have a school like St. Joseph Institute. Our staff consists of highly skilled professionals, many of whom serve as leaders on a national level. For parents who want to help their hearing-impaired child learn to listen and speak, SJI can have a profound effect on lifelong success.

Who we are: St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf is highly recognized as a long-standing national leader in deaf and hard-of-hearing education. Our staff is a group of uniquely trained and dedicated professionals with the sole mission of helping young children learn to listen, speak and develop academically and socially with the intent of preparing them to transition into local schools with great success.

What we do: We teach young children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing how to speak. Through the use of advanced technologies including cochlear implants and hearing aids, children with hearing loss can have access to sound. Once a young child hears sound, our team of specialists works with the child and family on listening abilities, language development and literacy skills to prepare the child to be educationally on par with hearing peers.

How you can help: It is rooted in our mission to never turn away a child or family in need of service; this is a commitment we take very seriously. While SJI receives some state funding support, because we serve families statewide, the gap between the cost of providing services and funds received is dramatic. More than 50% of the families we serve are low-income households.

SURVIVORS OF VIOLENCE FOUNDATION The physical scars of abuse and violence can become daily reminders of trauma that prevent a peaceful recovery.

Healing treatments can make a difference in how quickly the person recovers, then regains strength and self-esteem.

Who we are: Established in 2002, the Survivors of Violence Foundation provides hope and compassionate healing to survivors of violence. We offer reconstructive treatment that provides physical, mental and emotional healing for those with painful physical injuries or disfigurements caused by violence or abuse. The foundation’s work alleviates suffering and improves the quality of life for survivors with the greatest financial and health care needs.

How we affect the community: To bring healing to the lives of as many of these survivors as we can is a privilege for us. We are very excited about the potential of helping people uncover their inner strength and beauty, and we look forward to expanding treatments throughout the community.

The treatments Dr. Chernoff provides require not only his time and expertise, but also surgery center time, supplies and aftercare. Improving scars and non-healing wounds requires multiple treatment sessions and multiple treatment methods. The funds raised through the foundation help cover the cost of these treatments.

What we do: Dr. Gregory Chernoff uses cosmetic reconstructive surgery, laser and scar therapy to help heal the physical signs of injury and disfigurement. “We have the privilege of helping men, women and children who have injuries, physical scars or non-healing wounds as a result of violent acts, abuse, injury or illness. Our foundation treats people referred to us from other non-profit organizations, medical professionals and law enforcement agencies,” Dr. Chernoff said. Dr. Chernoff has extensive experience and expertise treating non-healing wounds, injuries, fractured facial bones and scars of all levels of severity using a series of therapies.

Referred to as a “tsunami”, nearly 24,000 children flooded Indiana’s child welfare system last year.

The Villages, one of only 2% of child and family service agencies that are fully accredited by the prestigious Council on Accreditation, is highly qualified to address this growing crisis and is passionate about “championing families” for these vulnerable children.

Who we are: Serving more than 3,100 children each day in Indiana, The Villages champions every child’s right to a safe, permanent and nurturing home. Established in 1978, The Villages has grown into a nationally-known, fully accredited, statewide organization that offers a diverse array of programs and services for abused, neglected and at-risk children and their families.

What we do: The Villages of Indiana provides a comprehensive array of family services including: • Adoption: The Villages offers private, international and special-needs adoption services, providing preparation, education, placement and support to families throughout their adoption journey.

• Children’s Village Child Development and Education Centers: Quality, accredited child care and early childhood development services for children ages six weeks through kindergarten are provided through our Level 4 “Paths to Quality” centers in Indianapolis and Bloomington, with Early Head Start and “On My Way Pre-K” Programs are provided at Children’s Village Indianapolis.

• Dads Inc.: Support and education for fathers is provided to help them develop healthy relationships and positive engagement in their children’s lives.

• Family Services and Community Partners: The Villages strengthens individuals, families and communities through counseling, education, mentoring and support services.

• Healthy Families: Education and training is offered to firsttime, at-risk parents to help strengthen the parent-child relationship and is provided in each family’s home, assuring a safer, healthier and more nurturing beginning for babies.

• Kinship Care: The Villages Family Connection Network supports grandparents and kinship caregivers who are “parenting” their grandchildren, empowering families and enabling them to achieve and sustain a stable, positive family experience.

• Older Youth Services (Transitional Living): Vulnerable teens aging out of the foster care system are provided with extensive life skills training in a community-based living environment to help them become self-sufficient and achieve success educationally and vocationally.

• Therapeutic Foster Care: When children are removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect, they are placed in nurturing and loving foster care homes licensed through The Villages.

How we affect the community: Annually, 89% (9 out of every 10!) children served by The Villages foster care program are in only ONE home, providing stability while in care … and far exceeding state and national averages. In 2019, The Villages prioritized the recruitment and training of qualified, nurturing foster parents to address the growing need for additional foster homes. The Villages is also very proud that 93 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to services for the children, youth and families we are privileged to serve. More than 11,000 vulnerable children and families are impacted by the wide array of programs and services The Villages provides each year.

How you can help: The Villages would be unable to provide enrichment activities to our children, youth and families without the support of generous donors.

Contributions help provide after-school tutoring for foster and kinship children; driver’s education classes for an Older Youth Services client; summer camp experiences; and trips to the zoo, museum or other summer activities — common things that many people take for granted but not The Villages children! Who we are: Women for Riley (W4R) is a group of women dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and their families treated at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. Riley Children’s Foundation is the fundraising arm of Riley Hospital for Children and the founding organization that opened Riley Hospital in 1924.
