Visual Thesis steal the show

Karachi (Laila): Visual studies have been on forefront when it comes to represent the creative capabilities of students. In Feb two consecutive shows were arranged constituting Final thesis show and mini thesis shows. In these events final year students of textile, graphics & fashion designing , visual studies department , displayed their final thesis. Total 49 students occupied 49 stalls. Thesis show was headed by Ms. Shahla, Ms. Sorash, Sir Maqsood & Ms. Saima. Thesis displayed at exhibition hall of JUW. Chief guest included Akram Dost Baloch an artist & Mr. Wasim Arora. Juery conducted by Ms. Maria from Gul Ahmed, Asim Baig from Asim Baig Collection, Farhan Sheikh (digital designer at Sana Safinas & Sarah Baloch from Gul Ahmed. Karachi (Laila Ali): India can’t hold Kashmir against the will of its people, for indefinite period. These views were expressed by MPA Madam Methab Akhbar Rashidi was invited as Chief Guest. She was addressing a speech session organized by Communication Skills & Professional Grooming Committee, held at Muhammad Uzair Auditorium JUW on On 6th February 2019. The event was organized in connection with Kashmir day and the topic of speech was ‘Youth’s Intellectual Opinion About Kashmir Day’. Six students from different departments Khadija, Kainat Saif, Yumna Zahid,Rabiya Kaleem , Hijab e Zainab& Syeda Tasveer participated in speech session. Ms Mehtab Rashidi said that Kashmir should be independent & also she appreciates the quality of speech of participants. Pro Chancellor said that we should have to make strong ourselves. Students got more motivation from the guest’s views. Event timings were from 1pm-3pm, each participant was given 3-4 minutes. Microbiology students visit Poultry Research Institute

Karachi (Hareem Shabbir) Department of microbiology arranged a visit for the students of microbiology final year to Poultry Research Institute (PRI) under the supervision of Dr.Saira Kamal, Ms. Maheen Nadeem and Ms.NimraSaqib. The institure is Sindh government initiative with responsibilities for research and identification of poultry animal and their livestock. Students in their visit observed different techniques used in microbiology and in professional labs that we already practiced in our university. In the clinical department, students witnessed different machines like PCR used for the DNA sequencing and ELISA for antibody-antigen detection as well as Hemagglutination. Students also experienced the live and the dead embryo by doing candling. Students witnessed centrifuge machine, biosafety cabinet 3,cold storage techniques like nitrogen and advanced refrigerators that could store samples for up to months, In bacteriology section, visitors

Political Science Department Participates in an International Conference on new trends in sociology.

Karachi (Laila Ali) The staff members & the students of the political science department, attended the 2 days international conference on ‘New Trends in social sciences & humanities in Contemporary world: With Reference to World Peace Order’ held in the Arts & Social Sciences Auditorium, of university Of Karachi. On this occasion, the latest trends related to world peace order were brought under discussion. Dr.Hasan Askari, the guest of honor, also shared his thoughts. Certificate of appreciation was handed to the teachers & students who attended the conference from JUW. The Conference was held on 5 & 6 December 2018 and was organized by the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, of Karachi University.

Karachi (Laila Ali) Professor Dr. Hameeda’s book on the factors impacting female teachers’ competencies is published by German publishing company “LAMBERT”. It published in Dec. 2018. The book is about her research on the factors and problems that female teachers face. The book also presents proposals to solve them and to evolve our education system by integrating different teaching methodologies. Dr. Hameeda is serving as professor since last 27 years in Education department. Talking to this scribe she told that this book is not only helpful for teachers but also may assist the students as well. An online version of this book is also present on the website of LAMBERT.
