The faculty of the various major programs of study are entitled to designate one graduating senior as a Distinguished Scholar. While each program may consider a variety of factors and variables in the selection process, eligibility for all programs requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40.

The Faculty Award

The Faculty Award is presented to the graduate magna cum laude or summa cum laude who, in the estimation of the faculty of the University, has evidenced exemplary devotion and commitment to the life of the mind.

Taylor Bell graduates with honors with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. While at WWU, Taylor was a member of the softball team, Omicron Delta Kappa, student alumni council, Psi Chi and Alpha Chi. Taylor completed three research projects resulting in five national conference presentations. She also completed two internships in the field of mental health. She is a 3x AMC academic all-conference, 2x NAIA scholar athlete, 3x NFCA scholar athlete and she participates in the champions of character program with the softball team. In addition to being a highly motivated and hardworking student, Taylor is a very personable and respectful individual.

Academic Service-Learning Award

The Academic Service-Learning Award is presented to the graduate with a 3.40 grade point average or above who, in the estimation of the faculty of the University, has best exemplified an exceptional commitment to service-learning.

Grace Mauzy graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Advertising and a minor in Spanish. She has served in significant leadership roles on campus including President of the Campus Activities Board, Co-President of Student Assembly, Peer Educator Chair, University Ambassador, Orientation Leader, and as a Veritan. Grace has used the skills developed in her academic disciplines to serve as Social Media Coordinator for the Sexuality and Gender Alliance, Marketing Coordinator for the Campus Activities Board, Event Planning Officer for DECA, Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing for Alpha Chi Omega, and as a COVID Vaccine Student Ambassador.
