The Faculty Award
The Faculty Award is presented to the graduate magna cum laude or summa cum laude who, in the estimation of the faculty of the University, has evidenced exemplary devotion and commitment to the life of the mind.

Lainey Rutter is an Honors student from Grove, Oklahoma that has spent her entire undergraduate career at William Woods University. She is a Political/Legal studies major and has represented William Woods in Washington DC twice: once for a Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law conference and once during an internship with Wilkinson/Barker/Knauer LLP. She has also represented William Woods back home in the Oklahoma District Attorneys Office. With a minor in Criminal justice, Lainey has also volunteered at multiple first responder and active shooter enactments. On campus, Lainey is a Residential Advisor, Peer Educator, and takes part in many clubs on campus. She has taken part in over 10 theatrical productions and performed in the first musical on campus since 2011. Lainey has also represented William Woods as an equestrian at Brownland, the National Equestrian Center, and the World Equestrian Center for the Hunter/Jumper discipline. Throughout all of these extracurriculars, she has maintained a 3.98 GPA and prioritized her studies as shown through her many Dean’s List honors. Lainey is most proud of her Indigenous People’s studies and research for her Senior Seminar and Honors Thesis which was awarded the Outstanding Senior Symposium Award. To further her education after William Woods, Lainey will be attending the University of Michigan Law School in the fall.
