Mission Honors 'Speedy' Espericueta at 6th Annual 5k

The City of Mission proudly partnered with the Speedy Memorial Foundation to host the 6th Annual Speedy 5K at the Mission Event Center. More than 2,000 runners joined Mayor Norie Gonzalez Garza, the Mission Police Department, and the Espericueta family to honor the life and legacy of Cpl. Jose Luis “Speedy” Espericueta Jr.—a true hometown hero. This powerful community tradition brings people together in remembrance, unity, and hope. Proceeds support scholarships for local students, ensuring Speedy’s legacy lives on through every step taken. The City of Mission is honored to support this meaningful cause.
