On Thursday, April 28th, Hundreds gathered at the Bert Ogden Arena to celebrate Edinburg Assistant Chief of Police Peter De La Garza’s retirement after 43 years of service to the community. De La Garza began his career as a patrolman in December of 1978 and was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police in 1994. De La Garza is the longest-serving police officer and assistant chief in the history of the Edinburg Police Department.
