21st Anniversary Optometrist Mohammed Bhojani celebrated 21 years practicing in the Loughborough area by inviting three of his first ever patients back to his Quorn practice with a celebratory cake, some drinks, two beautiful bouquets and even a complimentary pair of glasses! For over two decades, ever since he opened the doors of his first eye care practice called Eye Check Opticians on Market St. Loughborough in 1991, Mrs Jennifer Baggaley, her husband James, both from Loughborough and her sister Mrs Shirley Taylor from Castle Donington have been regular clients of Mohammed’s. His original branch quickly expanded into the largest and fastest growing independent opticians’ chain in Leicestershire with eight practices employing over fifty full time staff including six optometrists. In 1999, Mohammed received an offer from a larger national firm to acquire all his branches; however, he retained his quietest practice on the High Street in Quorn and then opened a second optometry practice in Barrow upon Soar (called Visual Answers Opticians) where he continues to see his patients even today. Over 21 years, Mohammed has personally tested the eyes of over 30,000 people living in the Loughborough area with some clients coming from further afield travelling regularly from Sheffield, Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester and London just to see him. ‘We have one patient who comes to see us every two years from the Bahamas - I always offer her the option of a personal home visit if ever she can’t make it,’ joked Mohammed. ‘We’ve followed Mr Bhojani from his original Market Street practice in Loughborough to his branches in Quorn & Barrow. He is a very caring professional with a personable attitude and absolutely up to date equipment.

The care and attention he gives makes us feel like a member of the family. We’ve had no cause for complaint in over 21 years!’ said Mrs Taylor. Mohammed is also involved in a variety of other related activities: as sessional optometrist in the Corneal Laser Centre at the Spire Hospital Leicester for 10 years, he worked closely with one of the top local eye specialists, Mr Ray Chaudhuri. More recently, he was asked to give lectures and presentations on aspects of contact lens and practice management to fellow optometrists in the UK and Europe at venues such as The Royal Society of Medicine. He is currently a faculty member of The Academy of Eye Care Excellence, which is part of Novartis Healthcare one of largest medical healthcare companies in the world. In 2007 he was even invited to the Queens Garden Party for services to charity. To celebrate 21 years, his practices at Quorn and Barrow are offering full eye examinations at the original 1991 price of just £10 to anyone who mentions ‘21Year Celebration’ when making their appointment.
