TIPS FOR KIDS 2 AND UNDER

Healthy baby teeth are very important for early facial development, eating, and speech. They also help permanent teeth arrive in the correct positions.
Cavities can start as soon as teeth appear. They can cause pain and infections that can lead to long-lasting health problems.
Cavities (or tooth decay) are one of the most common diseases among children in the U.S.
“Good health must include good oral health. Preventing cavities early will lead to a lifetime of better health for your child.”
—Dr. Ben Danielson, Pediatrician
CAVITIES ARE PREVENTABLE!
You can protect your child’s baby teeth and give them a bright, healthy smile with these 3 tips:
• Wipe babies’ gums with a clean, soft towel after feedings.
• Once they have teeth, brush twice a day with a small, soft toothbrush and warm water. Use fluoride toothpaste once your child can spit.
• Help kids brush until they are at least 6 years old.
• 0-12 months: Choose soft fruits and vegetables. Avoid food with added sugar.
• 1 year+: Choose fruits, vegetables, nuts, cheese, eggs, and other proteinrich foods.
Find a dentist and schedule an appointment by your baby’s first birthday or when they get their first tooth.
