ST. MARGARET’S COMMONS

St. Margaret’s Commons

Project Summary

The St. Margaret’s Commons is a critical project outlined in the school’s masterplan. It features a 30,000-square-foot state-of-the-art, two-story building serving all Tartans’ nutrition, fitness and well-being. A from-scratch kitchen will be at the center of the Commons, serving the entire campus with on-site chefs preparing fresh, nutritious meals throughout the day. A Great Hall and complementary spaces for dining, community gatherings and collaboration are located throughout the building. The Commons will also include a modern, equipped strength and performance fitness center, more than three times the size of the school’s current facilities, to support the expanding personal fitness and wellness program for all Tartans. In addition, the Tartans Thrive campaign will also contribute to St. Margaret’s Endowment, a pool of funds invested for the longterm, where the corpus of the funds are perpetually used to generate capital gains and interest income to support the annual operating budget.

“The St. Margaret’s Commons would provide St. Margaret’s students not only a place to feel at home on campus, but also a space to decompress and foster a healthy school-life balance.”

“We know that human thriving is built over a lifetime of healthy habits of mind and body, positive purposeful engagement and community, and the quality of our relationships. Research informs us that social, emotional and physical health are key factors impacting learning and development in children. It is essential for us to create programs and environments that are geared toward healthy living and positive social engagement for our students.

“All of these things are intentionally nurtured and practiced here at St. Margaret’s, and will be further explored and enhanced by the St. Margaret’s Commons.”

The Power of the Pledge

PLEDGE GIFTS: A multi-year commitment spread out over the time period chosen by the donor. Pledges can be made to multiple initiatives simultaneously.

• Pledge gifts are given in an intentional way –spreading out the tax deduction over multiple calendar years.

• Pledge gifts allow the project to move forward immediately before the pledge payments are all collected – shrinking the project timeline and possibly avoiding normal inflationary pressures.

• Pledge gifts allow the donor to be recognized for the gift immediately for the full amount of the pledge before all of the payments are made.

Other Ways to Give:

CASH OR CREDIT CARD : The school accepts cash in the forms of checks; credit cards; or domestic or international wire transfers.

GIFTS IN-KIND : Gifts inkind are non-monetary items of tangible property such as equipment.

MATCHING GIFTS : Some companies offer an employee matching gift program that could help you double or even triple your support.

SECURITIES: Donors may be able to realize substantial tax savings by making a gift of stock or other appreciated securities.

ALTERNATIVE ASSETS: From time to time, donors may choose to donate real estate or other alternative assets to the school. Please contact us to begin a conversation about these types of gifts.

PLANNED GIFTS : A variety of charitable planned gift structures are available with tax advantages that may be realized immediately or for a future generation of your family. Please contact our office for more information.

Gifts to St. Margaret’s are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. All gifts and/or pledges to the campaign will be promptly acknowledged, applied to the donor’s stated purpose and recognized according to the policies and practices established by the Board.
