GREETING TO WORSHIPERS

Dr. Chris George Senior Pastor

ORGAN PRELUDE Prelude on the Hymn Tune THAXTED Anna Laura Page

OPENING LITANY

Praise the Lord!

Praise, O servants of the Lord; praise the name of the Lord!

From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised. The Lord is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens.

Let us worship God together.

INVOCATION

Rev. Bart McNiel Associate Pastor

McNiel †HYMN 345 When Morning Gilds the Skies LAUDES DOMINO

PSALM 5

1Give ear to my words, O Lord; give heed to my sighing.

Rev. Rebecca Caswell-Speight Minister of Families and Faith Formation

2Listen to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I pray.

3O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch.

4For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil will not sojourn with you.

5The boastful will not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.

6You destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful.

7But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house, I will bow down toward your holy temple in awe of you.

Rev.

8Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.

9For there is no truth in their mouths; their hearts are destruction; their throats are open graves; they flatter with their tongues.

10Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of their many transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against you.

11But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, so that those who love your name may exult in you.

12For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover them with favor as with a shield.

The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God!

CHORAL MUSIC

Give Me Jesus Arr. Robert Sterling

In the morning when I rise, in the morning , give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus. You can have all this world, but give me Jesus. And when I am alone, give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus. You can have all this world, but give me Jesus. And when I come to die , give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus. You can have all this world, but give me Jesus.

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION WITH OUR LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING

Galatians 6:7-10

Rev. Bart McNiel

Associate Pastor

7Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow. 8If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit. 9So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest -time, if we do not give up. 10So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.

For the word of God in scripture, for the word of God among us, for the word of God within us, Thanks be to God!

CHORAL MUSIC Eternal Life

Prayer of St. Francis of Assi si

Olive Dungan

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace: where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
