Benefits Of Good Oral Hygiene If you have a good oral health, it will affect your life positively in many ways. Good oral health includes not only healthy teeth, gums, and jaws but also the overall oral hygiene. It is not that difficult to maintain a good dental hygiene if you follow good oral habits in your routine. However, below are a few tips on maintaining your oral health in a good way.

BRUSHING It is advisable that you brush your teeth at least twice a day for maintaining dental health and keep any germs or bacteria from forming in the mouth. To increase oral hygiene you can also brush your teeth after every meal. Moreover, brushing in the morning will remove the plaque formed in your mouth and likewise, brushing in the night will help to wash away the cavity that will be formed due to the drying up of saliva.

BRUSHING WITH CORRECT TECHNIQUE It is important that you brush your teeth placing your toothbrush at an angle of 45 degrees against the gums and gently move it back and forth. Brush the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces deeply. Clean the inside surfaces of your front teeth using the tips of your toothbrush with a gentle up-and-down stroke.

PICK THE RIGHT BRUSH It is again important that you choose the right toothbrush for your teeth. Always look for the brush whose head and bristles are small enough to reach the inner area of your teeth. This will be more effective in cleaning your teeth and removing the food particles and bacteria.

WHITE-TEETH DIET Avoid having dark beverages and food that can stain your teeth and tongue. Some of these are black tea, cigarettes, red wine, colas and dark juices which should be avoided as much as possible.

CHANGING THE TOOTHBRUSH It is very important that you change your brush every two to three months. This is because your toothbrush will hold onto old bacteria. Moreover, the bristles become bent and break leaving less bristles overall to brush your teeth. So, it is advisable that you change your toothbrush at regular intervals.

USE OF MOUTHWASH It is advisable to use a mouthwash after brushing your teeth to remove any leftover bacteria. Your mouthwash should be free from alcohol.

CLEAN YOUR TONGUE It is vital to clean your tongue so as to remove the formed plaque. It also helps in removing the bad breath.

USING BAKING SODA You can use baking soda as a natural teeth whitener once in a while or once every two days. This will act as a natural bleach for your teeth and will also clean your mouth.

USE A TOOTHPASTE WITH FLUORIDE It is important that you choose not only a good toothpaste but it should also contain fluoride which will strengthen your enamel and make it tougher for the bacteria to break down. It will also prevent the formation of plaque and will further help to keep your teeth white.

FLOSSING Flossing is an important part of dental health. It is necessary that you floss your teeth regularly just as you brush them. This will remove the extra bacterial formation of food particles which is not removed by the brush.

REGULAR VISITS OF YOUR DENTIST It is important that you take a visit to your dentist at least twice a year to check your dental health and to ensure there are no oral issues. If there will be any issues, they may be handled in advance. HEALTHY DIET A healthy diet is vital for not only your oral health but also for your overall physical health. Try to avoid junk food as much as possible as they contain the ingredients that are acidic by nature which can affect your oral health. In order to maintain your oral hygiene, it is important that you follow good dental habits and make them your routine.
