Tips for Preventing Periodontal Diseases Periodontal diseases are common oral conditions that affect people of all ages. And the reason it affects children, adults and older adults alike is that we ignore our oral health. Until you face a serious issue with your teeth and gums you do not visit a dentist, which is the biggest problem. Your teeth and gums need equal attention like other crucial parts of your body. However, most of us fail to realize that until and unless we face a serious issue. Periodontal diseases are nothing but the infections that affect your teeth and gums.

Gingivitis and periodontitis are two common periodontal conditions that affect a large number of people. Both these conditions stem from poor oral hygiene so, if you want to treat them you pay close attention to your oral hygiene. If you talk particularly about gingivitis, it is characterized by swollen, dark red and bleeding gums. In addition to that, bad breath, and receding gums are other crucial signs of gingivitis. It is the first stage of gum disease - which is nothing but another name for the periodontal disease. It is a progressive disease, which means if left untreated it can progress to a severe stage called periodontitis.
