- Where Artistry Meets Engineering
Editor’s note
In this edition, we delve into the behind-the-scenes world of the US luxury bath design and construction industry—a remarkable $56.9 billion market.
We’re excited to showcase some of Āsaya Design’s exquisite luxury residential projects while taking you on an exclusive tour of ABG Hospitality’s IMI manufacturing plant. There, we’ll unveil their latest innovation: the Calligraphy collection. Our tour was expertly guided by IMI’s CEO, Dirk De Vuyst, whose philosophy resonates deeply with our values: “We are adamant about sticking to our promises and ensuring we over-deliver and exceed all client expectations. We love to think outside the box on product development and thrive on challenging deadlines. We can increase capacity in hours by realigning our willing and dedicated workforce. I’m also a passionate self-development enthusiast.” This edition celebrates the intersection of visionary design, innovative manufacturing, and unwavering commitment to excellence that defines today’s luxury bath industry.

Conceptualization - The Beginings
At āśaya Design Studio, every project begins with concept creation - our most crucial phase. Whether designing luxury residential spaces or hospitality venues, we develop foundational concepts perfectly aligned with our clients’ vision and stakeholder goals. This essential first step sets the creative direction and ensures project success. Two distinct concepts shown here represent our tailored approach.
Casestudy 1 - River North Luxury Residence
A timeless story
Luxury bathrooms cost $75,000-$150,000, making careful planning of materials, fixtures, accessories, and specialty features crucial. Thoughtful design considers existing infrastructure, future maintenance, and overall vision. These images showcase a layout maximizing windows and natural light while opening the space to create a larger, more expansive feel through strategic design choices.
Casestudy 1 - River North Luxury Residence
A timeless story
Material selection, fixtures, and vanity choices are crucial in luxury bathroom design. This neutral marble palette features gold and neutral accents. When selecting lighter materials, long-term maintenance is essential - here we chose honed finishes for easier upkeep. The detailed wall tile pattern adds visual interest while remaining low-maintenance through strategic wall application.
Casestudy 2 - Andersonville Luxury Residence
Casual rustic
This design embraces casual rustic aesthetics with bold black and white tile patterns. Medium-toned textured gray tiles balance the tall pitched ceiling, while lighter warm wood cabinets add coziness. Handmade rustic blue accent tiles provide the fun color element clients requested. The combination of classic black-and-white patterns creates a timeless yet playful space.

Given the architectural palette’s emphasis on movement and color, the design team selected disciplined black and white plumbing fixtures and accessories. This restrained choice complements the overall design while allowing the accent tile patterns to serve as the space’s focal point, creating perfect balance between bold elements and refined functionality.
