The Warwick Gardens Galore Redbacks took on the South Toowoomba Bombers in their round 2 AFL match at WCU Oval on Saturday April 29 and continued their winning start to 2023 with a comfortable 10.11.71 - 7.8.50 victory.
South Toowoomba won the toss and were first to hit the scoreboard with Troy Rissman using his pace to break through the middle.
The Redbacks bounced back with an unbelievable banana from the pocket to Lintenbrink putting the home side in front at quarter time by four points.
The Redbacks piled on three goals to one in the second quarter and looked to take the game away from the Bombers with full forward Tom Allison finding form and slotting his 2nd goal.
Josh White was building into the game with his ferocious attack and Andrew Politch wound back the clock in defence, repelling the Bombers forward entries at will guiding the Redbacks to the main break with a 17-point lead over last year’s grand finalists.
The Bombers came out flying in the third quarter blasting four goals to three and threatening to take the game from the home side.
Robert Blood kicked two goals and Sam Platz chipped in with one of his own to keep the Redbacks on top heading into the last quarter, 11 points in front.
Will Jamieson found plenty of footy and used his speed to get out of trouble and debutant Alex Dwan was very handy, taking a few strong marks, spoils and nail- ing his passing.
The last quarter, possession was dominated by the Reddies however the conversion inside 50 was of concern kicking two goals, five behinds, for the quarter.
