The Blue Sweater
Zoe is in a shop in London. She’s found a sweater that would fit Fiona, her cousin, so well. But the size is not right. She goes to the shop assistant to ask for a smaller size.
Shop assistant: Hello. Is there something I can help you with?
Zoe: Yes, do you have this sweater in a size smaller, do you think?
Shop assistant: Let me see. This is L for large. What were you thinking of? M or S?
Zoe: Well, it’s for my cousin. She’s about my size, I should think.
Shop assistant: Well, that would be small, don’t you think? Or do you like your sweaters a bit baggy?
Zoe: A bit baggy, I think.
Shop assistant: OK, it’s medium, then. But would another colour do? I think I’ve just got blue left.

Zoe: That’s wonderful. I love blue. How much is it?
Shop assistant: You’re in luck. We have a special offer on those. It’s 20 % off right now. So that’ll be ... £15, alright?
Zoe: OK, this will make Fiona very happy, I think.
Shop assistant: I hope so. Would you like it gift-wrapped or should I just put it in a bag?
Zoe: Gift-wrap, please.
Shop assistant: Ok, just a minute. There it is! Thank you and have a nice day! Next, please!

Chapter 15 Zoe’s English Christmas Celebration
Zoe is going to spend Christmas with her family in England this year. It will be her first time. She is very excited and can hardly wait!
Fiona, her cousin, wrote an e-mail telling her about their Christmas traditions. She thought it would be a good idea for Zoe to be prepared.
Fiona wrote:
Hello Zoe!
How are you? I can’t wait to see you!
I thought I’d tell you a little about our family’s Christmas celebration, because it might be a bit different from what you are used to in Sweden.
On Christmas Eve we usually stay in the house doing the last Christmas preparations. It is always a bit hectic! Mum puts up our Christmas stockings by the fireplace, for Father Christmas to fill up with presents during the night. I will make sure she remembers your stocking as well!
Daniel and I usually spend some time wrapping up presents before we go carol singing with friends and neighbours. We also put out mince pies and milk for Father Christmas and his reindeers. Every year, Daniel and I try to stay awake to see him drop off the presents, but we always fall asleep!
On Christmas Day we usually wake up quite early and head downstairs to the living room to open our presents. Oh, it’s a thrill! It’s so exciting! Daniel always tears off the wrapping on his presents. – And can you imagine, Mum and Dad let us eat chocolate before breakfast! Let me tell you, it is the best day you can wish for!
After breakfast we get to play with our presents and later on Dad plays board games with us. He is, by the way, a bad loser!
For dinner we have turkey with chestnut stuffing! Mmmm! I love it!
Get ready for your English Christmas celebration, Zoe! And see you soon!
Lots of love, Fiona
