RANMASU UYANA CONSERVATION Anuradhapura Sri

PROJECT SUMMARY

History is a foundation of the future and it works as a key for future applications. Ranmasu uyana is known as a Royal park in Anuradhapura period and it had dedicated to Maha sanga by king Devanampiyatissa According to Mr Paranawithana; Ranmasu Uyana had functioned as a Royal garden in 7-8th centuries The site is located next to Isurumuniya and below the eastern bunt of the Tissa Wewa and approx area is about 40 acres The site is fulfilled with ruins such ponds, swimming pools, carved stone tables, seats , artificial peaks and elements.

The Project purpose to provide conservation method to protect the ruins and its function and to support Sri Lankan economy by adding a value to the site and function it as people attracted location

Design Proposal

Within the conservation proceeding, the functional arrangement of the site will be based on the function of the stargate. The Stargate is known as a door for the universe, hence it still functions for meditation purposes, but people who visit do meditation to experience the universe, but they do not get enough time for meditation The purpose of meditation cannot be achieved within a few minutes People should have enough time to experience the meditation process. Hence, there should be an accommodation for visitors who are visiting to improve meditation. Also, meditation rooms along the northern vila to support meditation programs and other meditation rooms will be program as souvenir shops and the proposed number of buildings in the schematic design proposal will be reduced to support future conservation developments

HOUSING FOR WANATHAMULLA

PROJECT SUMMARY

The slums are known as residential area where dwellings are not suitable due to poor infrastructure, overcrowding, lack of ventilation or lack of sanity and other facilities. the project is to propose a housing units for Wanathamulla (Dematagoda) to identify there living environment and to provide best space for them. The project is focusing on educated people who are living in Wanathamulla slums The project has selected the users of the design through searching on their income, educational level and jobs. Creating a good environment for educated people at the same living context will be a good example for new generation to keep hoping for better life. Creating a educational environment with the educated society will help low income people to develop their education and lifestyle. The design has provided three house types considering the income of them, also, it has focused on creating community space, public gathering for each building floor and family gathering space and balconies for each houses. Each building have connected through bridges and the vertical transportations have connected to each floor by make people walk through buildings. Each building has two staircases with the center courtyard. Each building ground floors have arranged for community and commercial purposes and the middle building fourth floor has arranges for commercial purposes.

House Units

All Houses have same floor area but vertically it change as 2 or 3 or 4 bedroom units. Each house has a private Balcony, Family Balcony and linked with Community Gardens, Living Kitchen and Dining spaces are created in a one spaces and Bedroom environment separated from living to protect privacy, large sliding door were used for living and ones it opened the Living space will become as a balcony space. all Balconies were done as garden space. toilets were done open to sky for ventilate with providing privacy. the Family Garden can use as mulity purpose area such it can used as working spaces, it can be a bedroom, storage or as a office room. the family lobby is actually providing a extra additional spaces to extend the house.
