Colorado Blue Spruce Book Award Since 1985, the Colorado Blue Spruce Award has let the teens of Colorado nominate and vote on their favorite books. Only teens are allowed to nominate and vote on the books, so while adults may disagree about the titles on the list, they do represent what teens are reading and responding to. Please encourage students to read at least 3 books on this year’s list (see hall display) and vote anytime before January 13, 2011. Bookmark ballots are available in the library

I can make one for you too—of you, your family or students. Pick a book, pick a background, email me a photo or I can take one. Then I’ll use the poster software and Photoshop to create a personalized appeal to get students to at least think about reading.

Student Book Club Thank you for the feedback on the student book club. I think student choice is a good thing, so the first book club meeting will be October 25 with the theme of scary books—students should read a scary book and come share with the

group. I will provide pumpkin juice or pumpkin cookies or something like that. Spread the word!

Look for posters soon.
