The Strong Seam® paneling insula on system reduces maintenance and installa on costs, thanks to its durable design and high-quality materials. It is engineered for long-term performance with minimal upkeep, providing cost savings across the lifespan of the tank. Straight Line’s exper se ensures an efficient and reliable solu on, offering seamless installa on that doesn’t require scaffolding or hot work permits. This results in improved safetyandreduceddown me.

MACHINE FORMED STANDING SEAM CONTOUR
The Strong Seam® system features a robust, machine-formed standing seam that joins adjacent panels, extending the full height of the tank. This secure seam incorporates reten on clips that fasten the panels to steel cables, which are ghtly wrapped around the tank’s perimeter. The double-locking seam ensures longterm stability and ease of installa on, crea ng a durable and effec ve insula on solu on for the tank.

Our tank design features the Strong Seam® insula on system, which comprises ver cal panels secured by cables around the tank wall. The Strong Seam® panels are a ached to anchor cables with “T” clip fasteners. These “T” Clips extend outward at the seams, which are machine rolled with the “T” Clips to lock the panels together and secure them to the anchor cables, elimina ng external banding.

SULPHUR, HOT OIL OR ASPHALT TANKS
When the tank opera ng temperature exceeds 275˚F, the tank will expand or retract during the course of the tank start up or shut down, causing the insula on system to crack which will require a replacement at your own expense. In cases like this, we highly recommend an expansion joint for the roof to help deal with this issue. An expansion joint of the tank insula on serves a purpose to absorb the lineal mo on caused by the heat expansion. We recommend a two layer applica on for side-walls and roofs.

ENGINEERED STEAM TRACING SOLUTIONS
Heat tracing is the practice of heating piping to maintain a constant material temperature and compensate for heat loss. For steam tracing, the heat is generated using excess steam from other processes.
TYPES OF STEAM APPLICATIONS
•Conven onal Tracing
•Single & Double Insulated Tube
•Bare Tube with HTC
•Snap Trace
•Contro Trace
•Hot Oil

STEAM TRACING
Steam Tracing is described as the a achment of a tube (Copper or Stainless) containing saturated steam, also known as the “tracer”, parallel to the process fluid pipe. The two pipes are then insulated together with the appropriate insula on and jacke ng. Although Steam Tracing is more intensive compared to electrical heat tracing, there are fewer risks associated with it. The temperature of the tracer cannot surpass the maximum satura on temperature of the steam, as it operates at specific steam pressures.
Straight Line offers manifold installa ons and designs, including full packages of steel Forge Manifolds. The MSC forged steel manifolds centralize steam distribu on and condensate collec on for up to 12 sources. These manifolds feature various connec ons, making them ideal for tracing applica ons. Their compact design allows easy access for trap maintenance and monitoring, while the moun ng arrangement ensures quick installa on. The condensate collec on manifold includes an internal siphon pipe to promote even temperature distribu on and ensure single-phase discharge of condensate. Straight Line's quality systems provide a reliable and easy-tooperate solu on that is plant-friendly and meets everyday process demands.

At SLIS we know that at the heart of every trace hea ng system is thermal insula on and our experience gives us the advantage. Our specialists have been installing and maintaining heat tracing systems for over 17 years. We offer turn-key solu ons, with control & monitoring systems. We manufacture Forged Steam and Condensate Manifolds along with install to ensure quality. We are a Cer fied Contractor for all ControTrace Systems, design and installa on. So, whether you need Electrical Heat Trace, Steam Trace or ControTrace for your next project or need confidence in your plant’s ability to operate efficiently through the winter, contact: SLIS Proving Experience in the ART OF RELIABLE HEAT TRACING.
AMBIENT

The demands placed on heat tracing systems vary based on the design parameters specific to each applica on. To meet these needs, Straight Line Industrial Services, Inc. uses Thermon® manufacturing as its supplier who has the widest variety of electric hea ng cables and control systems in the world.
ELECTRIC TRACING
Similar to steam tracing, but instead a hea ng cable that is constantly transmi ng wa age is a ached to the process fluid pipe. This system is monitored by a Microprocessor-Based Control Unit which permits on-off heat tracing control with numerous capabili es such as readings of the hea ng and temperature of cables. The heat cable and the pipe are insulated together with the specified insula on and jacke ng. Electrical heat tracing is less work labor than steam tracing.

Insulated blankets and/or pads can easily be removed for periodic inspec ons or regular maintenance, and replaced as required.
Straight Line Industrial Services, Inc. can also build blankets with acous cal barriers to support & assist with noise control.
PERSONAL PROTECTION
Pads are malleable, pulse resistant, and can be used with any equipment, whether it is ver cally or horizontally mounted. Piping and equipment at any high temperature ought to be insulated in order to reduce heat loss and enhance safety. As a general rule, any surface that reaches temperatures greater than 100°F should be insulated to protect personnel.

A key a ribute of thermal insula on material is its ability to minimize heat transfer between surfaces in thermal contact. The insula ng efficiency of a material is quan fied by its thermal conduc vity; lower thermal conduc vity indicates higher insula ng capacity under specific condi ons.
CONVENTIONAL INSULATION
• Conserve energy by reducing heat loss or gain.
• Control surface temperatures for personnel protec on and comfort.
• Facilitates temperature control of a process.
• Prevent vapor flow and water condensa on on cold surfaces.
• Increase opera ng efficiency of hea ng, venla ng, cooling, plumbing, steam process and power systems found in commercial and industrial installa ons.
• Prevent or reduce damage to equipment caused by exposure to fire or corrosive atmospheres.
• Assist mechanical systems in mee ng USDA (FDA) criteria in food and cosme c plants.
