The Strong Seam® paneling insulation system reduces maintenance and installation costs, thanks to its durable design and high-quality materials. It is engineered for long-term performance with minimal upkeep, providing cost savings across the lifespan of the tank. Straight Line’s expertise ensures an efficient and reliable solution, offering seamless installation that doesn’t require scaffolding or hot work permits. This results in improved safetyandreduceddowntime.

MACHINE FORMED STANDING SEAM CONTOUR
The Strong Seam® system features a robust, machine-formed standing seam that joins adjacent panels, extending the full height of the tank. This secure seam incorporates retention clips that fasten the panels to steel cables, which are tightly wrapped around the tank’s perimeter. The double-locking seam ensures longterm stability and ease of installation, creating a durable and effective insulation solution for the tank.

Our tank design features the Strong Seam® insulation system, which comprises vertical panels secured by cables around the tank wall. The Strong Seam® panels are attached to anchor cables with “T” clip fasteners. These “T” Clips extend outward at the seams, which are machine rolled with the “T” Clips to lock the panels together and secure them to the anchor cables, eliminating external banding.

SULPHUR, HOT OIL OR ASPHALT TANKS
When the tank operating temperature exceeds 275˚F, the tank will expand or retract during the course of the tank start up or shut down, causing the insulation system to crack which will require a replacement at your own expense. In cases like this, we highly recommend an expansion joint for the roof to help deal with this issue. An expansion joint of the tank insulation serves a purpose to absorb the lineal motion caused by the heat expansion. We recommend a two layer application for side-walls and roofs.

ENGINEERED STEAM TRACING SOLUTIONS
Heat tracing is the practice of heating piping to maintain a constant material temperature and compensate for heat loss. For steam tracing, the heat is generated using excess steam from other processes.
TYPES OF STEAM APPLICATIONS
•Conventional Tracing
•Single & Double Insulated Tube
•Bare Tube with HTC
•Snap Trace
•Contro Trace
•Hot Oil

STEAM TRACING
Steam Tracing is described as the attachment of a tube (Copper or Stainless) containing saturated steam, also known as the “tracer”, parallel to the process fluid pipe. The two pipes are then insulated together with the appropriate insulation and jacketing. Although Steam Tracing is more intensive compared to electrical heat tracing, there are fewer risks associated with it. The temperature of the tracer cannot surpass the maximum saturation temperature of the steam, as it operates at specific steam pressures.
Straight Line offers manifold installations and designs, including full packages of steel Forge Manifolds. The MSC forged steel manifolds centralize steam distribution and condensate collection for up to 16 sources. These manifolds feature various connections, making them ideal for tracing applications. Their compact design allows easy access for trap maintenance and monitoring, while the mounting arrangement ensures quick installation. The condensate collection manifold includes an internal siphon pipe to promote even temperature distribution and ensure single-phase discharge of condensate. Straight Line's quality systems provide a reliable and easy-tooperate solution that is plant-friendly and meets everyday process demands.

At SLIS we know that at the heart of every trace heating system is thermal insulation and our experience gives us the advantage. The demands placed on heat tracing systems vary based on the design parameters specific to each application. To meet these needs, Straight Line Industrial Services, Inc. uses Thermon® manufacturing as its supplier who has the widest variety of electric heating cables and control systems in the world.
ELECTRICAL HEAT TRACING
Electrical heat tracing uses specialized heating cables attached directly to process pipes to maintain or raise their temperature. Unlike steam tracing, these cables deliver controlled, consistent heat and are managed by a microprocessor‑based control unit that monitors system performance, temperature levels, and overall operation. Once installed, the cable and pipe are insulated together to ensure efficient heat retention. This approach offers a cleaner, more efficient, and lower‑maintenance alternative to traditional steam tracing, making it ideal for modern industrial applications.

Electrical heat tracing is widely used in industry to prevent pipes, tanks, and equipment from freezing or losing critical process temperature. It keeps fluids at the right viscosity, protects instrumentation, and ensures reliable operation in harsh or cold environments. Across sectors like oil and gas, chemical processing, and power generation, it’s essential for safety, uptime, and process stability.

EQUIPMENT HEATING
EHT ensures critical components such as pumps, valves, filters, and transfer systems are at the proper operating temperatures needed for safe and efficient performance. By applying controlled heat directly to the equipment, electrical heat tracing prevents cold‑related issues like thickened fluids, blockages, or mechanical strain.
FREEZE PROTECTION
Electrical heat tracing plays a key role by preventing freeze‑ups, maintaining fluid flow, and protecting critical instruments from low temperatures. When combined with proper insulation and weatherproofing, winterization ensures that industrial operations stay safe, efficient, and uninterrupted throughout the winter season.

Our removable insulation blankets are custom-built and manufactured for each individual item that is needed. A close contour fit is indispensable for a precise appearance and proper thermal performance. Blanket covers are frequently designed in segments to fit most applications.

PERSONAL PROTECTION
Insulated blankets and/or pads can easily be removed for periodic inspections or regular maintenance, and replaced as required.
Straight Line Industrial Services, Inc. can also build blankets with acoustical barriers to support & assist with noise control.
Pads are malleable, pulse resistant, and can be used with any equipment, whether it is vertically or horizontally mounted. Piping and equipment at any high temperature ought to be insulated in order to reduce heat loss and enhance safety, any surface that reaches temperatures greater than 100°F should be insulated to protect personnel.

Most of the Straight-WRAP heated covers contain a Self Regulating Heat Trace cables they are placed in a strategically pattern to avoid cold spots over the body that will be covered.
SELF-REGULATING CABLES

• HTSX - for freeze protection or temperature maintenance to 121°C (250°F)

• BSX - for freeze protection or temperature maintenance to 65°C (150°F)

• RSX - for freeze protection or temperature maintenance to 65°C (150°F)

• VSX - for freeze protection or temperature maintenance to 149°C (300°F)
CABLE HI-TEMP BLANKETS
For HI-Temp applications, we offer mineral insulated cable heat blankets. These blankets use mineral insulate cable or “MIQ Cable” as for the heating element. This is very high temperature cable that can maintain up to 932 F. Note that these blankets are more ridged and are limited in flexibility.

HEATED BLANKETS

Straight-WRAP EHT blankets are designed to the specific need of each customer. Heat Covers can be fabricated to fit any equipment for maintain temperature and freeze protection. Factors such as ambient conditions are taken into consideration in the design process.

Mechanical services cover the installation, modification, and testing of piping systems and mechanical equipment that keep industrial processes running safely and efficiently. This includes fabrication, tie‑ins, equipment setting, and system verification to ensure everything operates as designed.

Mechanical services play a hands‑on role in keeping refineries and chemical plants running smoothly. They come into play during turnarounds, equipment swaps, process improvements, and new construction anytime a facility needs to adapt or upgrade.
