s there such a thing as too much snow ? For this issue, Skipresseâs Publisher and General Manager Pat Wells and our intrepid world traveler, Evans Parent, headed for the hills in a search for the answer to that question. Pat set out on a trip to Revelstoke, in the heart of Canadaâs snowiest region in eastern British Columbia. Via helicopter, snowcat, and lift, he spent several days experiencing what was essentially one, continuous face shot. But he also spent time with avalanche experts to learn that within that deep snow we all love and live for can reside a phantom demon we hope will never be awakened. In the mountains of Japan, where annual snowfalls exceeding 20 metres are not uncommon, Evans went even deeper than Pat. He encountered such an exalted level of deep-snow bliss that he concedes he might have experienced the best single run of his life. Coming from a guy who has traveled to all corners of the globe in order to put skis to snow, that is really saying something. As Pat learned, deep can mean danger. But for all of us as skiers, deep dreams inhabit and invigorate our spirit. With the dawning of the new year, hereâs hoping that your 2014 will be filled with face shots and that you, too, may experience a single run that will take your skiing life to a blissful new level. But bearing in mind the incredible talent of the young Zuckerman, itâs worth betting that in the next few years he will be making a name for himself. A MontrĂ©al native, Leo left the province of QuĂ©bec a little over two years ago to take up residence in Vancouver, BC, where he is currently a university student studying film. Although he still needs to complete a few courses to earn his degree, heâs already considered by many ski-film insiders to be one of the most promising sports-movie directors of the next generation. You just have to see his breathtaking images to understand where people are coming from when they call him âthe next Warren Miller.â

y dad, with a smile playing on the corner of his lips, was trying to climb the snowbank. âI canât get anywhere,â he said with delight. âThe snowâs too soft.â I had already been in Japan for over two months and had skied more than my share of powder, but his enthusiasm was contagious.

I was more than halfway through a three-month trip through Japan when my father came to join me. I was happy to share the experience and discover, with him, the best that Japan had to offer. Almost 15 years earlier, my dad had first taught me how to telemark and then initiated me into the pleasures of off-piste skiing in western Canada.
We parked the car at the foot of a mountain pass rarely visited by skiers. And yet powder-covered slopes stretched upward on both sides of the road. Je descends de quelques mĂštres afin de me positionner pour prendre des photos. Je me retourne et je crie Ă mon pĂšre : « Prends de la vitesse et donnes-y ! » AprĂšs quelques mĂštres, les skis pointĂ©s directement dans la ligne de pente pour prendre un peu de vitesse, mon pĂšre sculpte un virage qui envoie tellement de neige dans les airs que je suis persuadĂ© quâil a chutĂ©. Mais, toujours sur ses skis, il continue Ă descendre, traçant de longs virages profonds, envoyant danser des millions de flocons dans son sillage.

My dad disappeared and reappeared into and out of the enormous cloud of snow surrounding him, until a huge whoop of joy told me he had finally reached the bottom. I put away my camera and prepared to enjoy my own run. I was hard put to contain my excitement. Hands trembling,
I made sure that all my zippers were closedâŠand then I took off. I tried to pick up speed, but the snow was up to my chest. I felt engulfedâswallowedâby the snow that was pushing against my whole upper body. It was the best run of my life ! Just like in the movies, I felt as if everything was moving in slow motion, and yet all my senses were hyper-tuned. Iâve had a number of memorable days of skiing in my life, but at that exact moment I felt like I was shooting my personal version of perfect skiing, as if in a dream. It was

Je range mon appareil photo et me prĂ©pare Ă en profiter Ă mon tour. Jâai du mal Ă contenir mon excitation. Les mains tremblantes, je mâassure que toutes mes fermetures Ă glissiĂšre sont bien fermĂ©es, puis mâĂ©lance. Jâessaie de prendre de la vitesse mais la neige sâentasse jusquâĂ ma poitrine. Je me sens alors englouti, la neige crĂ©ant une pression sur tout lâavant de mon corps. Câest la meilleure descente de ma vie ! Comme dans les f ilms, jâai lâimpression que tout se dĂ©roule au ralenti alors que tous mes sens sont en Ă©tat dâalerte. Jâai connu plusieurs journĂ©es de ski mĂ©morables, mais Ă ce moment prĂ©cis, jâai lâimpression de rĂ©aliser mon propre film de ski idyllique, comme dans un rĂȘve. Comme toute bonne chose a une fin, je fais mon dernier virage, tout en bas de la pente. Mon pĂšre et moi tentons alors de se parler mais, nos yeux brillant de bonheur, nous ne parvenons quâĂ faire des bruits primitifs dâexcitation. Partager un tel moment avec mon pĂšre, celui qui a fait de moi le skieur je suis, mâemplit de bonheur. Nous fixons nos peaux dâascension puis remontons aussi rapidement que nous pouvons pour une autre descente⊠et une autreâŠjusquâĂ ce que nous soyons complĂštement Ă©puisĂ©s. Bien que chacune semble ĂȘtre « la meilleure descente Ă vie », aucune ne parvient Ă recrĂ©er lâeuphorie de la premiĂšre. Alors que nous virages disparaissent dans le rĂ©troviseur de la voiture, je prends lentement conscience que des journĂ©es comme celle-ci et les sentiments ressentis ne pourront jamais se reproduire. Ă ce moment prĂ©cis, rien ne pourrait me combler davantage : je suis au Japon, je skie, et jâai la chance de pouvoir partager cette expĂ©rience unique avec mon pĂšre. PrivilĂ©giĂ©, je profite Ă fond de la vie.

My dad and I tried to speak but, our eyes shining with joy, were only able to make a few primitive sounds of excitement. Sharing this kind of experience with my father, the person who made me the skier that I am, filled me with happiness. every run felt like âthe best run of my life,â none was able to recreate the pure euphoria of the first. As our tracks slowly d i s ap p e a r e d f r om t he c a r âs rear-v iew m ir ror, I g radually became aware that days like this and the emotions we had felt could never be reproduced. At that precise moment, nothing could have made me happier or more fulfilled : I was in Japan, I was skiing, and I had been lucky enough to be able to share this once-in-a-lifetime exper ience with my father. he South Island of New Zealand is known for towering mountain peaks and a network of mountain huts which, while hard to reach, are amazing to see. The heart of the Southern Alps is reserved for mountaineering and ski-touring buffs equipped for glacier travel and, more importantly, assisted by professional guides. There are two ways to access these areas : by helicopter or by ski plane (very rare), as found in Mount Cook National Park, home to the countryâs highest peak.

Ă bord de notre avion suisse Pilatus, bien chargĂ© pour le sĂ©jour, nous dĂ©couvrons dâabord le glacier Tasman du haut des airs. Nous atteignons ensuite notre cabane qui nous servira de refuge pour les prochaines nuits. Long de 27 kilomĂštres, le Tasman, le plus grand glacier du pays, est devenu une victime Ă©vidente du rĂ©chauffement climatique. Fondant un peu plus chaque annĂ©e et se jette maintenant dans un Ă©norme lac terminal qui lui, ne cesse de sâagrandir.
Quelques minutes aprĂšs notre arrivĂ©e â et aprĂšs avoir pris les traditionnelles photos de groupe â lâavion repart, nous laissant au m i l ieu de cet te i mpressionnante mer de glace de plus de 500 mĂštres dâĂ©paisseur. Mais lâexcitation vĂ©cue en avion se transforme rapidement. Les premiĂšres consignes des guides donnent le ton Ă lâexpĂ©dition : p ou r se dĂ© plac er en toute sĂ©curitĂ© prĂšs du refuge, on doit absolument chausser les crampons de glace. Deux jours avant notre arrivĂ©e, un homme a perdu la vie suite Ă une chute mortelle. En transportant de lâĂ©quipement vers sa cabane perchĂ©e sur un Ă©peron rocheux, il perdit pied. Une chute de mille pieds lui donnant aucune chance de sâen sortir. Le territoire skiable autour de la Tasman Hut nous fait dĂ©couvrir le plaisir et lâintensitĂ© de skier en plein cĆur du plus imposant glacier de la Nouvelle-ZĂ©lande. La peur se transforme alors en

in the ocean, mean that New Zealand is hit by a large number of weather systems. We were on a Swiss Pilatus plane, well-laden for the trip, and first saw the Tasman glacier from the air. Before long we reached the cabin that would be our home for the next nights. The Tasman, 27 kilometres in length, while the largest glacier in the country, is a clear victim of global warming. Melting a bit more each year, it now flows into a huge, ever-growing terminal lake. A few minutes after our arrivalâ and after we had taken the traditional group photographsâ the plane departed, leaving us in the middle of this impressive sea of ice more than 500 metres thick. But the excitement we had felt on the plane was immediately transformed. The first advice the guides gave us set the tone for the expedition : to move around at all, even close to the cabin, it
is imperative that you wear ice crampons on your boots. Two days prior to our arrival a man had died in a fall. As he carried equipment to his cabin perched on its rocky spur, he lost his footing. A 1,000-foot fallâŠand he hadnât had a chance of surviving. T he sk iable ter rain around the Tasman Hut allowed us to experience the pleasure and intensity of skiing on the very heart of New Zealandâs biggest glacier. Fear was transformed into an adrenaline rush. We made the most of this opportunity, leaving our tracks through the seracsâhuge blocks of iceâas we wended our way across the crevasses. It was a four-day expedition Iâll never forget. The west coast of the South Island provided a completely different experience. Located only 31 kilometres from Mount Cook, the Fox glacier is accessible only via a twisting coastal road. For us, travelling in a van, it was a 600-kilometre detour ! www.skipresse.com

When we arrived at Fox Village, the countryside was completely different. Due to the prodigious snowfall on the western coast, Fox is one of few glaciers in the world that continues to grow. The temperature difference between the alpine heights and the coast is so enormous that over the years, nature has had to adapt. Fully 13 kilometres long and composed of thick layers of ice, the glacier is always active, stretching along the valley right down to a dense tropical forest, after which it becomes a river that rushes headlong into the ocean.

ArrivĂ©s Ă Fox Village, le paysage est complĂštement diffĂ©rent. GrĂące aux imposantes chutes de neige de la cĂŽte ouest, le Fox est lâun des rares glaciers de la planĂšte qui continue Ă sâaccroĂźtre. La diffĂ©rence de tempĂ©rature entre ses sommets alpins et sa cĂŽte est tellement grande quâau fil des ans, la nature a dĂ» sâadapter. Long de 13 kilomĂštres et composĂ© dâĂ©paisses couches de glace, il est toujours trĂšs actif â sâallongeant dans la vallĂ©e jusquâĂ une dense forĂȘt tropicale, il se transforme ensuite en riviĂšre qui elle, se jette dans la mer. Quant aux conditions de ski, elles sont fortement influencĂ©es par la mĂ©tĂ©o et lâhumiditĂ© crĂ©Ă©e par la proximitĂ© de lâocĂ©an. Ă cette pĂ©riode de lâannĂ©e, on y trouve encore de la belle poudreuse sur les faces sud et ombragĂ©es (eh oui ! tout est Ă lâenvers sur l â hĂ©m i sphĂšre sud. ) M a i s la chaleur et les vents violents la transfor ment rapidement en neige printaniĂšre. Notre expĂ©dition en NouvelleZĂ©lande nous aura permis de skier et de naviguer sur les flancs du glacier Fox dans un un dĂ©cor Ă couper le souffle. Pouvoir vivre une telle aventure dans une carriĂšre de skieur est un privilĂšge, et avoir accĂšs Ă ce genre de territoire, une expĂ©rience unique. GrĂące Ă la culture de plein air nĂ©o-zĂ©landaise et Ă lâentĂȘtement des Kiwis Ă vouloir sans cesse explorer le territoire et Ă dĂ©velopper des cabanes de hautes montagnes, les sportifs en quĂȘte dâadrĂ©naline et de paysages magnifiques ont accĂšs Ă ces merveilles. The ski conditions are highly influenced by the weather and the humidity created by the oceanâs proximity. At this time of year there is still good powder on the south and shaded slopes (and yes, everythingâs upside down in the Southern Hemisphere). While the heat and violent winds rapidly changed the powder to spring snow, we still managed to make some nice turns on our runs down the mountain. Our New Zealand expedition allowed us to ski and travel the sides of the Fox glacier in breathtakingly beautiful surroundings. For a skier, living this kind of career
adventure is a great privilege, and having access to this territory a unique experience. Itâs because of New Zealandâs outdoor culture and the fact that âKiwisâ never cease to explore their land and to develop cabins in the high alpine. Sports buffs looking for an adrenaline rush and magnificent panoramas have access to these wonders. For my team and me, it was a winning combination : helicopter or plane access, huts perched high on the cliffs, runs down fields of ice and snow with the sea in the background. Yet again, we returned home satisfied and with heads bursting with images.

Snow is not only a substance to ski on, it can be an artistic medium, too. Using snow to create stunning sculptures is an art practiced in many places. But perhaps the king of sculpting competitions is the annual Budweiser International Snow Sculpting Championships in Breckenridge, Colorado. This winterâs event will be held January 21 through February 2.

ecember seemed perfect for a trip to Revelstoke, in the heart of Canadaâs snowiest region. The town itself receives an average of more than 110 centimeters in December alone, and the snowfall in the surrounding mountains is far greater. In fact, Fidelity Peak, in Glacier National Park just east of Revelstoke, is officially the snowiest place in Canada, with an average annual snowfall of 1,388 centimeters. I met the AST course conductors A ngus Mclean-Wilson and Tomoak i Fujimura at t he Revelstoke Outdoor Center. Angus and Tomoâs knowledge was impressive, and their passion for the science of avalanches quickly revived memories of Verbier, Switzerland, where I was once triggered a pretty big avalanche, luckily emerging unscathed. This two-day course gave me enough knowledge to realize that in all the wild places we had skied some 20 years ago in Verbier, I had been courting danger much of the time. skipresse | 27

16 We met for our day of heli-assisted alpine touring at the Hillcrest Hotel, just minutes from downtown Revelstoke. Revelstoke is a pretty little town, heavily populated with skiers and riders from around the world. There are also many people from Ontario and Québec who come for a week, are mesmerized by the beauty and the snow, and never leave.

Dans ces conditions de vol extrĂȘmement difficiles, Lenny Martin, un pilote trĂšs expĂ©rimentĂ©, mâa vraiment impressionnĂ©. In these difficult flying conditions, my admiration for Lenny Martin as a master pilot only grew.
Pour notre journĂ©e de randonnĂ©e a lp i ne hĂ© l ip or t Ă© e, on sâe s t rencontrĂ©s Ă lâhĂŽtel Hillcrest, Ă quelques minutes du centre-ville de Revelstoke, un charmant petit village oĂč habitent des skieurs et des planchistes de partout dans le monde. De nombreux Ontariens et QuĂ©bĂ©cois viennent y passer une semaine et, charmĂ©s par la beautĂ© des lieux et la quantitĂ© de neige, dĂ©cident dây rester. Larry Kelly et Pierre-Etienne Gagnon (le guide en chef) â on a parlĂ© de lui lâan passĂ© dans lâune de nos publications â Ă©taient nos guides pour la journĂ©e. En dĂ©barquant de lâhĂ©lico, PierreEtienne nous Ă©loigna de la zone alpine, trop risquĂ©e et flatlight, et nous dirigea dans la limite forestiĂšre, oĂč les conditions de neige sâavĂ©raient superbes. Our guides for the day were Larry Kelly and my friend Pierre-Etienne Gagnon (the lead guide), whom we featured in a story last year in Skipresse. It had been snowing quite a lot, and the bitter cold that had gripped the entire western part of the country was thing of the past. After my avalanche course, I was now well aware of the considerable dangers that come with backcountry skiing. I had total faith in Pierre-Etienneâs experience and decision-making skills, but we still took the time to review rescue procedures and familiarize ourselves with all the equipment. After a 15-minutes drive, we gathered our gear in an open field, and within minutes the sound of the heli rotor blade awakened a child-like giddiness within me. A Bell 205 chopper charged toward our location and landed as softly as
a feather. Lenny Martin is a pilot of great skill, having worked for Selkirk Tangiers for the past 27 years. As I looked around me, all I saw were clouds and no mountain. Question marks started to pop up in my head as we took off, but even in these conditions, my admiration for Lenny as a master pilot grew. Now the real fun was about to begin. Out of the chopper, Pierre-Etienne took us from the alpine zone, which was too hazardous and in the flat light, into the treeline zone, where we found great snow conditions. Screams of joy and exhilaration filled the air. After skinning back uphill, PierreEtienne turned to us and said, âGuys, Lenny is offering us an heli-bump.â In other words, a bonus lift from the chopper to make our dayâs work easier. We ended up getting a few heli-bumps and logged considerable vertical for heli-assisted touring. We finished our day at the Hillcrest Hotel bar, and as I reflected on my day, I could see why Selkirk Tangiers has repeat customers year after year â the service was exceptional, with attention given to every detail. I felt like a king.

Notre petit groupe de six skieurs a pu profiter de conditions exceptionnelles. On a enfilĂ© les descentes tellement rapidement quâĂ lâheure du lunch, on avait dĂ©jĂ huit descentes Ă notre actif. Et avec AndrĂ© et Cece, des guides vraiment incroyables, expĂ©rimentĂ©s et tellement gentils, on a fait 10 descentes, cumulant un total de 6250 mĂštres de dĂ©nivelĂ©. On a ensuite partagĂ© nos meilleurs moments au bar du Hillcrest, Ă©videmment !
Our six-skier group was blessed with perfect conditions on every run. We banged out runs so fast that by lunch we had already logged eight laps. André and Cece were incredible, so knowledgeable and nice, and we ended up doing 10 runs totaling more than 6250 vertical metres, followed, of course, by sharing memories of the day at the Hillcrest Hotel bar.
Back to Selkirk Tangiers for a full heli-skiing experience. Lenny was again our pilot, with our group led by AndrĂ© Normandeau and Cecelia âCeceâ Mortenson. AndrĂ© has been guiding for 27 years and is the lead guide in the organization, while Cece has guided in many places, including Antarctica.

Taking a day off from skiing on a snowy day, I sat down with Eriks Suchovs, Selkirk Tangiers general manager, to learn more about the business of flying people into remote places to ski powder. Eriks started guiding with Selkirk Tangiers in 1983 and never left. After a change in ownership, Eriks made the move from senior guide to management. He now oversees as many as 30 guides.

Lâun des dangers quand on skie en neige profonde dans la zone forestiĂšre (treeline), câest de tomber dans le trou qui se forme naturellement autour des troncs dâarbres. Il est trĂšs difficile dâen sortir et on peu y mourir asphyxiĂ©. Denis Leclerc, un bon copain Ă moi, skiait devant moi. Il perdu lâun de ses skis et tomba dans lâun de ces trous. AprĂšs lâavoir aidĂ© Ă sortir de lĂ , il semblait encore secouĂ©. Ă ce moment, on a rĂ©alisĂ© que skier dans cette zone avec un partenaire peut vraiment vous sauver la vie !

StĂ©phane et Cece nous ont guidĂ©s Ă travers la plus belle neige de la semaine et, avec le Soul 7, je planais au paradis de la poudreuse.
We were led by Stéphane Poirier from Québec and my favorite guide, Cece. T he snow was phenomenal, but on the first run I got to put my new AST 1 skills to the test. A great danger when skiing in the trees is falling into a tree well, an empty pocket in the deep snow that can form around a tree trunk. Tree wells
are hard to climb out of, and it is possible to die of suffocation. My good friend Denis Leclerc, skiing in front of me, lost a ski and fell into a tree well. After I rescued him, I could see Denis was kind of shocked. But all was fine ; doubling up with a ski partner when in the trees can be a life-saving safety measure. I was grateful that a group from Rossignol allowed me to join them for the day. They were a bunch of great and genuine guys, and great skiers. Thanks to them, a highlight of the day was trying the new Rossignol Soul 7 ski, which was made for this kind of skiing. Stéphane and Cece led us to some of the best snow of the week, and the Soul 7 made me feel like I had been given entry to powder heaven.

On mâavait dit quâil fallait rĂ©server des mois Ă lâavance pour le ski en chenillette. Comme par magie, une place juste pour moi sâĂ©tait libĂ©rĂ©e ! Jâavais hĂąte de skier Ă nouveau avec Larry, notre guide absolument gĂ©nial de lundi. Lâambiance du ski en chenillette (catski) est complĂštement diffĂ©rente de celle en hĂ©liski ; plus abordable, elle attire davantage les skieurs plus jeunes qui cherchent Ă sâĂ©clater en terrain difficile. Selon nos guides, notre groupe Ă©tait lâun des plus rapides quâils avaient vu depuis des annĂ©es. Jâai vraiment apprĂ©ciĂ© le confort douillet de la chenillette, et le lunch quâon nous a servi. Le terrain Ă©tait incroyable et la poudreuse nous montait jusquâaux genoux presque partout. Mais en se
dirigeant en territoire plus difficile, dĂ©valant un couloir assez Ă©troit, jâai accrochĂ© la tĂȘte dâun sapin et jâai fait une mauvaise chute. En tombant, jâai senti une douleur atroce dans ma botte gauche. AprĂšs une attente pĂ©nible Ă l â hĂŽpit al de Revelstoke, le diagnostic est tombĂ© : dĂ©chirure complĂšte du tendon dâAchille. MalgrĂ© cette fin plutĂŽt abrupte, jâai vĂ©cu Ă Revelstoke une expĂ©rience de ski inoubliable, le pĂ©riple dâune vie ! MĂȘme si ma saison sâest terminĂ©e prĂ©maturĂ©ment, jâai lâimpression d âavoir compressĂ© une saison complĂšte en une semaine. Une chose est certaine, jây retournerai lâan prochain !

I was told that for cat skiing you need to book months in advance, but luckily a spot was left open for me. I was looking forward to skiing again with Larry, our leader on Monday and one very cool guide, with a promising career ahead of him. Cat skiing has a different atmosphere from heli skiing ; because it is more affordable, it is more likely to attract keen, younger skiers looking to shred challenging terrain. We had one of the fastest groups that the guides had seen in years. I also enjoyed the warmth and comfort of the snowcat cabin, with time for a leisurely lunch.
Revelstoke had been more than fair to me, giving me the adventurous week of a lifetime. My ski season might have ended prematurely, but I had compressed a full winter into a single week. A return to Revelstoke next year is on my list.

The terrain was amazing, with knee-deep powder most of the time. As we progressed into more difficult territory, I clipped a tree and tumbled down a narrow couloir. he key to any successful trip, especially into the backcountry, is having the proper equipment. Here is a list of items that I chose to use in Revelstoke. Some of the gear I bought for the trip ; some I was able to rent while there (e.g., skis, rescue equipment). Although some components have the versatility to work in all four types of skiing I did, other items were suited specifically for situations to be encountered in either alpine touring, heli-skiing, cat skiing, or resort skiing.

The combination of climbing and descending in alpine touring makes controlling body temperature crucial. You need light apparel to go up and warm materials after you reach the top of an ascent for heading down. It is critical that your outerwear remain dry and free of sweat.
You will be warmer when heli-skiing than during resort skiing, but you will still be exposed to cold weather. You will also be crouched in the deep snow for helicopter landings and takeoffs many times during the day. Hence, youâll need waterproof and breathable outerwear. When resort skiing you can leave some gear behind, but even in-bounds, the mountain is big and the weather sometimes harsh. Be prepared !

f he had been faithful to his California upbringing, Ian Coble may have started his career as a photographer on the sandy beaches of the West Coast. However, although he took up surfing and played beach volleyball as a teenager as most of his countrymen, strangely, this Southern California native made alpine skiing his obsession. Based in Seattle, in the American state of Washington, this image hunter now spends a great deal of his work capturing snowy peaks. When he was still only knee-high to a grasshopper, Ian was racing down the slopes of Mammoth Mountain in California. It was located just a few hours from the family home, and his parents got into the habit of taking him along skiing as often as possible. âMy dad was an excellent skier. He taught me how to ski when

courses Iâd taken in high school, in black-and-white photography. Iâd loved those classes and I always liked taken photos on vacations, so I decided to experiment with it.â Ian experimented for a while, for maybe a year or so. But he quickly came to the conclusion that being a photographer was the kind of job that suited him best. âThe year after I graduated from college, I was working as a bartender at nights and I was skiing every day. I carried a Minolta SLR in my pack and shot as much as I could, just to see if I really liked it. At the end of the year, I came to the conclusion that not only was I having a lot of fun but also, that my images were really good. At the end of that winter I decided it was what I really wanted to do for living.â Self-taught, Ian learned almost everything by actually doing it, observing others and gleaning tips and tr icks wherever he could. Bit by bit, he managed to garner a reputation for his work. After several years of establishing himself in the photo industry, he was finally able to quit his temporary job in the restaurant industry to devote himself fully to photography. Today, and for the past eight years, he has made a living from his images.
With a view toward diversifying his output, Ian started capturing all kinds of images beyond just the ski industry. He was particularly gifted in sports photography, and today immortalizes numerous athletesâ from skiers to swimmers by way of basketball players or cyclists. âThere are a lot things I love to shoot, but skiing is still what I love the most. And I think it will always be that way.â Ianâs style is tough to pigeonhole. Sometimes, it is dark and moody ; at other times bright and ethereal. âI think I try to shoot what the environment or moment is telling me. I donât try to tailor my images to a predetermined look necessarily. Every job and subject is unique, and I try to let that moment determine the best way to shoot it.â There is one constant, however : in both colour and black-and-white â whether itâs portraits, landscapes or athletes in actions â his shots always reveal unusual beauty. You just have to look at his images to be convincedâŠ

RĂGLE #2 â Les mythes Ă propos de la poudreuse ? Oubliez ça !
