Portrait Miniature on Ivory of a Gentleman Wearing a Powdered Wig, Anglo/American School, 18th century, unsigned. watercolor on ivory, oval portrait, 1 3/8 x 1 1/8 in., in a later black lacquered composition frame with brass liner, (paint loss on bottom edge). $200-250 253. Portrait Miniature of Mary Wanton Saltonstall Coit, American School, c. 1835, unsigned, watercolor on ivory, half-length oval portrait, 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 in., in a period molded wood frame with gilt-brass mat, (very good). Note: Mary Wanton Saltonstall was born March 14, 1767, in New London, Connecticut, the daughter of Winthrop and Ann Saltonstall. She married Dr. Thomas Coit, Jr. (b. 1767), on November 29, 1789, and resided in New London. They were the parents of Dr. Thomas Winthrop Coit, D.D., a noted Episcopalian minister who was among the foremost of scholars in the Episcopal church, and author of several works in defense of its doctrines and position. $200-250 254. Portrait Miniature of a Clergyman, with Memorial on Reverse, Anglo/American School, 18th century, unsigned, watercolor on ivory, oval bust-length portrait depicting the gentleman wearing a powdered wig, black coat with white collar, the reverse showing a watercolor on ivory with applied hair memorial depicting a young woman grieving beside an urn-topped monument, 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 in., in a gilt-brass brooch. $600-800 257 (with mark detail below)

Memorial Ring, c. 1792, navette-shaped 14kt gold ring with seed pearls surrounding sepia inkwork on ivory with an image of a lady mourning beside an urn-topped monument, the border inscribed “SACRED WILL I KEEP THY DEAR REMAINS,” the band with chased inscription “JANET BUTLER OB. 11 JAN. 1792 AE 24,” size 11 1/2. $600-800 256. Small Enamel and 14kt Gold Hairwork Memorial Pendant, probably Philadelphia, 1825, round with chased floral surround and hanging ring, one side with black enamel band inscribed “IN MEMORY OF” and engraved “George B. Lownes/OB August 16, 1825,” the other side set with a circular plait of brown hair, dia. 7/8 in. $300-500 257. Paul Revere, Jr. Silver Cann, Boston, c. 1780, pearshaped body with molded flared rim on molded circular splayed foot, double scroll hollow handle with sprig on upper handle and scroll terminal on the lower; the base with engraved monogram “G/AM,” maker’s mark “P. REVERE” in a rectangle struck below rim near handle, and on base, (minor scratches, reinforcement to handle terminals), ht. 5 1/8 in., approx. 12 troy oz.
