2017-18 Skyline Conference Champions

Women’s XC


With a score of 654 at the Skyline Conference Championship, the men’s golf team finished fourth, 68 strokes behind champion Farmingdale State. Freshman Joseph Tantillo shot a 150 (+10) on the weekend, good enough for fourth place and Skyline Rookie of the Year honors. Junior Patrick Standard (161) finished ninth.

Women’s Tennis

A strong regular season yielded a 5-1 conference record as the Golden Eagles began play in the Skyline Conference playoffs as the second seed. Despite defeating Mt. St. Mary 6-3 during the regular season, SJC suffered a 5-4 loss to the Knights in the semifinal round of the championship. Victoria Panicola (First-Team), Nora Burnett (Second-Team) and Lindsey Charrier (Second-Team) were Skyline All-Conference selections.

Women’s Soccer

Averaging 2.89 goals-per-game, the women’s soccer team compiled an 11-7-1 overall record and a 6-3 mark in conference play. After squeaking by fifth-seeded Purchase, 1-0, in the first round, SJC drew 0-0 with top-seeded Mt. St. Mary in the semis but were defeated in penalty kicks. Skyline All-Conference First-Team selection Christina Gagliardi broke the program’s record with 19 goals in a single season.

Women’s Volleyball

The Golden Eagles competed at the NJAC Championships where senior Erin MacDonell broke the SJC record in the 3,000-meter with a time of 10:46.27 to qualify for the ECAC Championships. Also qualifying for the ECAC’s finishing at 1:33.49 and breaking the school record was the men’s 4x200 relay team of Brandon Linbrunner, Daniel Antonawich, Brandon Phan and Anthony Figorito.

After starting the season with a 2-9 record, the women’s volleyball team righted ship and won 11 of its final 16 games and entered the conference playoffs as the third seed with an 8-2 record. After shrugging off Maritime in the first round, SJC fell to second-seeded USMMA in the semis. Women’s Swimming

Women’s Basketball

Senior Andrea Iavarone highlighted a 9-16 (6-12 Skyline) season for the Golden Eagles when she was named Skyline Conference and ECAC Player of the Year. The forward led the Skyline 521 points, 20.8 ppg, 420 rebounds, 16.8 rpg and 2.4 blocks per game. Outdoor Track & Field

A successful 2018 season saw the Golden Eagles compete at the Skyline, NJAC and ECAC Championships. Freshman David Maitre placed third and earned NJAC All-Conference Honorable Mention in the 110-hurdles with a school record of 15.49. Junior Jennifer Holownia set a new program record and qualified for the ECAC’s in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.51. Joining her at the ECAC’s were Maitre, Daniel Antonowich (400-meter hurdles) Gabrielle-Ada Mason (pole vault) and Brandon Phan (triple jump).

Women’s Lacrosse

The Golden Eagles finished the season at 8-9 (5-2 Skyline) advancing the Skyline Conference Tournament Finals for the fifth consecutive year. Baseball

After finishing the 2018 regular season with a record of 22-14 overall with a 13-5 conference mark, the Golden Eagles entered the Skyline Championship Tournament as the #2 seed behind Farmingdale State. SJC opened the tournament with wins over #3 seeded Mt. St. Mary College and Farmingdale and began Championship Sunday unbeaten. After falling to #4 USMMA 5-4, the Golden Eagles rallied to beat the Mariners 6-5 and capture their second championship in three years. St. Joseph’s advanced to the NCAA Division II New York Regional as the #7 seed where they finished 1-2 earning the program’s second NCAA Tournament win with a 2-1 victory over Amherst College. Four Golden Eagles landed on All-Conference teams with first baseman Paul Britt and pitcher Joseph Murphy earning All-Region nods..

Men’s Tennis

Softball

After a slew of weather-related postponements and cancelations, the softball team compiled a 20-10 overall record and a 14-2 Skyline Conference mark. Entering the double-elimination tournament as the second seed and tournament hosts, SJC posted a 2-1 record before falling to champion Mt. St. Mary in game eight. Eight members of the team appeared on Skyline All-Conference teams including Theresa Cardello, who was Pitcher of the Year. Kristen Arbiter and Lyndsay Smocer scooped up All-ECAC honors.

Men’s Volleyball

In the program’s second-ever season, the Golden Eagles posted an undefeated 10-0 record in conference play and went on to defeat Mt. St. Vincent 3-0 in the Skyline Conference final to earn the program’s first-ever championship. SJC went on to compete in the NCAA Tournament but were defeated by #4 Kean in the first round. Sophomore Kyle Biggers hit .454 on the year and was named Skyline Player of the Year and was included on the All-ECAC First-Team.

Men’s Lacrosse

For the second-straight season, the men’s lacrosse team finished with a 7-7 overall record and missed out on the conference playoffs by one game. Five players were named to the Skyline All-Conference Second-Team, including Casey Hickey who led the team with 28 goals and 45 points.
