CAHRMembership
Thereleaseofour2016AnnualReportmarks twoyearssincetheinceptionoftheCAHR.Aswe continuetoexpandwithinthecommunity,the CAHRisfulfillingitsmandatetosupportresearch andevaluationactivities,andcreate/share knowledgerelevanttoSt.Joseph’sCareGroup.
Overthepastyear,weincreasedawarenessof theCAHRbrandthroughthelaunchofour website(cahr.sjcg.net)andaseriesofopen housesandpresentations.Asaresult,the demandforinternalsupportisontherise,and CAHRmembershiphasnearlydoubled. Our growingmembershipbasesecuredover$8 millioninexternalresearchfundingin2016, presentedat30nationalorinternational conferences,andpublished28articlesinpeerreviewedpublications.
I,alongwithallCAHRmembers,amproudofthe achievementshighlightedinthisreport.Ilook forwardtobuildinguponthesesuccessesaswe
moveinto2017.

2016markedthe11th anniversaryoftheAnnualShowcaseofHealthResearch,andthe firsttimethenewlyformedCAHRhostedtheevent.OnFebruary5,nearly200 healthcareprofessionals,studentsandresearchersfromavarietyof organizationsgatheredtosee8oraland30poster presentationsmadebyhealthresearchers.

RebeccaScott isaResearchAssistantatLakehead University,andthemostrecentgraduateoftheCAHR’s internshipprogram.“Theexperiencefromthisopportunity hasenhancedmyacademic,careerandpersonal development.Itallowedmetospecificallyapplytheideas taughtinuniversityandprovidedabridgebetweenschool (i.e.criticalthinking,writingresearchreports,data analysis,oralpresentations)andtheprofessionalworld.”
