guest countries as well as the Hungarian shows have been presented next to each other with the precise aim of triggering visual interaction and a dialogue between all the choices of subject and forms of expression that the young artists of the Visegrád Four have adopted. Additionally, the festival will also be presenting over 40 satellite exhibitions.

shows in the same venue will show how photos are able to bridge age gaps and decades of technical differences. Traditionally, photography has had a strong presence in Central Europe and has been instrumental in reflecting social change. For this reason the following exhibitions by groups of artists from various Visegrád countries will be on display: New Slovak Photography (curated by Vaclav Maček), Fresh and Polish (curated by Marta Szymanska), FRAME – Contemporary Czech Photography (curated by Vladimir Birgus and Evzen Sobek). An exhibition by the Association’s Studio of Young Photographers will run alongside these shows. Studio members attend the show each year with a new set of artwork intending to represent the latest trends in contemporary Hungarian photography. To curate their works for this year’s show, Horst Kloever will be in attendance, nurturing his fascination for Central European artists. The three exhibitions on display by

The festival intends to facilitate dialogue by showcasing a selection of contemporary photographic trends. It also aims to increase domestic publicity for photography; a branch of art regarded as the most progressive form of expression on the international scene. The main exhibitions hosted in the upstairs halls of the VAM Design Center will display two significant photographic trends as part of Dialogue: some shows will present archive materials while others offer collections of photographs that represent innovations in a visual language. The exhibition Drawers Reopened by the Hungarian Press Agency (MTI) reveals the previously unknown photographic work of famous artists. These pieces of art have been screened and arranged by photographer Éva Keleti, who is also curator of the exhibition Forever Young by the Senior Creative Group of the Association. offered by the Association for the duration of the event. The festival is a founding member of Photofestival Union (www.festivalunion.com) which connects 33 esteemed photographic festivals in more than 20 European countries. The events of this year’s Month of Photography organized in Budapest, Vienna and Bratislava will be presented to the world’s leading photo-theoreticians as members of the Oracle Conference of Rotterdam, who will spend several days touring the festivals. Photographers and photo fans should make their way to one or more of the more than 50 exhibitions that make up the festival!
