a piccola isola di Giannutri è un paradiso naturale che già in età romana era stato individuato come un luogo ideale per il relax e l’otium. Non è un caso, dunque, che tutta la parte orientale del suo territorio sia occupata dai resti di una imponente villa senatoria, costruita dalla famiglia dei Domizi Enobarbi di cui Nerone fu un discendente, durante il I secolo d.C. Il sito archeologico è stato riaperto nel 2015.

he small island of Giannutri is a natural paradise, already identified as an ideal location for relaxation and otium in Roman times. It is therefore no coincident that the entire eastern side of the island is occupied by the remains of a massive senatorial villa, built by the Domitius Ahenobarbus family (forebears of the Emperor Nero), in the 1st Century CE.
