Be Safe This Holiday Season! Safe Rides If you have safety concerns while moving about campus as night, please use this free service offered by the UC Davis Police Department! Read more about this great service on the UC Davis Police Department website!

Travel Reminders The holiday break means that you may be traveling outside of the United States. Remember to get your I-20 signed if the current signature will be more than one year old at the time that you reenter the United States. You can receive a travel signature at the SISS office (University House) during the following times: 3 Day Processing Time: Monday – Friday, 9am-12pm & 1pm-4pm Same Day Service: Next available date is Tuesday, December 9th If you plan to travel outside of the United States during the winter holiday, but not to your home country, please: 1) Contact the country you plan to visit to see if a visa is required for your visit. You can do this by doing an internet search (examples: “how to visit Canada”, or “Mexican consulate”, or “visa for France”) 2) Note that processing time for these travel visas can take several weeks. 3) Come to SISS if you have any travel questions.

DO NOT WAIT until the day before you travel to obtain your signature

Announcements EDU 98 Seminar: Exploring Your Interests In Issues

Winter Quarter option for new international students! Enroll in the Student Academic Success Center's 2-unit EDU 98 Seminar: Exploring Your Interests in Issues. New topics, more great resources! You will study and discuss the issues that challenge all of us and explore your interests in making a good quality of life for yourself, your community, and your world. Plus, you can practice important student skills, including how to:  do basic research, group projects, and presentations  develop critical thinking and study skills  understand and deal with cultural adjustment  find volunteer and community service opportunities

find resources and answers for all kinds of questions ✓ Small class size (20 students per section) with a focus on student interaction and activities ✓ 2 units of P/NP course credit ✓ Lots of individual attention in office hours; introduction to campus resources ✓ No pre-requisites

The seminars are offered Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday at 10am, 11am, 1pm, and 2pm. Please check your @ucdavis.edu e-mails for messages from Sally Teaford Alexander with the CRNs. (Academic Counselors in the colleges also have the CRNs.) *When registering, be sure to enter "2" for unit value. This course does not appear in the Course Search Tool because it has been reserved especially for new international students only. This course does not apply to the minor in Education. For more information, please visit the Student Academic Success Center, 2205 Dutton Hall, (530) 752-2013. SASC hours are: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Announcements Continued The Craft Center Do you love crafting? Are you interested in learning a new art? Or do you just want to try something new? Then check out the Craft Center!

The Craft Center is the perfect place to develop your creative skills. We provide a comfortable atmosphere that encourages beginners as well as more experienced crafters. The Craft Center offers 10 different fully-equipped studios, including ceramics, woodworking, screen printing, glass, flame working, jewelry, welding, photography, textiles (sewing, weaving, and dyeing), and arts & crafts. The Craft Center offers more than 90 classes each quarter, ranging from one-day workshops to seven-week courses. The classes are small so you get an abundance of one-onone attention. After developing a skill, you may purchase a day or quarter pass to use the studios whenever our classes are not in session.
