Memorable Moments

through the years...

During the 2011-2012 season, violins were found not only in the orchestra. To celebrate Sinfonia’s fifth season, ArtStrings: A Painted Violin Exhibit was launched to raise funds and awareness for the Emerald Coast’s only fully professional orchestra. Using real violins as their canvas, 24 local, regional, national and international artists created original works of art, which were displayed at the Grand Boulevard Town Center before being auctioned off. Proceeds benefitted The James A. Fuller Memorial Fund for Music Education, an extension of Sinfonia’s music education initiatives throughout the community. PITCH PERFECT PATTI LUPONE On March 27, 2014 at a lavish fundraising dinner hosted by Tim Krueger and Jill Cadenhead at their Destin home, Broadway powerhouse Patti LuPone, the guest of honor, shared why she was supporting Sinfonia Gulf Coast, saying, “I went through the public school system on Long Island and when I was growing up in the ‘50s, music education was as important as science, math, history and English. Music is the soul of a nation.”

CELEBRATING WITH SOLE A cadre of Sinfonia Gulf Coast supporters celebrated the 10th anniversary season early by attending Festival del Sole’s opening weekend in Napa Valley in July 2013. Festivities during the 10-day event included exclusive winery tours, al fresco dinners, a world premiere of Gordon Getty (yes, from that Getty family) by the Russian National Orchestra, and a courtyard concert by soprano Nadine Sierra in Calistoga’s Castello di Amorosa, one of Napa’s top destinations. A highlight of the wine, food and fun-filled weekend was a gala headlined by stage and screen star Kevin Spacey. A SUPREME EVENING Mary Wilson of The Supremes was exactly that when her magnificent Motown vocals and moves transformed Seagar’s Prime Steak & Seafood restaurant into a swank, intimate supper club on October 21, 2010 in honor of the orchestra’s 5th anniversary season. After a gourmet meal by Chef Bruce McAdoo, music lovers were on their feet dancing and singing (yes, even on stage with her) to time-tested classic ‘60s hits Stop in the Name of Love, Can’t Hurry Love, and, of course, I Hear a Symphony. sinfonia gulf coast | 47
