Mayor Harold Rainwater Letter

Already signs of the coming Christmas season are visible in Wilmore – the occasional glimpse of a tree in a residential window, city employees hanging banners, lights being strung, the City tree being decorated, Christmas music being played. Within a few short weeks, we will be in full Christmas mode in Wilmore! Be sure to check out the calendar of events for Wilmore in this issue of Jessamine County Living.
Our retail district is thriving with over twenty shops and businesses ready to help you select that perfect gift Moving in and out of shops, up and down the streets in Wilmore will take you back to the pre-mall days. You will greet neighbors and friends, shop an amazing variety of items, saving gas, time and frayed nerves perhaps! You will find these shops warm and inviting with business owners who will give the attention and time not always found in the big box stores By shopping “local and small”, you will be supporting businesses who put money back into the local economy.
You will want to include in your schedule time to take in some of the cultural events scheduled throughout the months of November and December. Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary will be offering services of the season and are open to the public Many churches will feature plays, musical presentations and more. These events provide the much-needed balance to what can be an overwhelming and stressful time. Lastly, opportunities to be a “neighbor helping a neighbor” are available by contacting area churches or the Community Service Center. Sharing is always a blessing!
Wishing you a Joyful Christmas!
