Cue Mariah's "All I Want for Christmas is You" and let's get this season started, shall we? If you've followed along so far, you'll know that fall is my favorite, but mainly because cooler temperatures are welcome after a blistering summer But, Christmas and winter? Oh, I LOVE The warmth of the Christmas spirit helps to combat the frigid air whipping through the Bluegrass this time of year
But, what exactly, is the "warmth" of Christmas spirit? I think it's love. Love is at the center of gift giving, donation giving (p 16), family dinners, and classic movies (p. 28) on the couch under the softest blanket in the house Love is the cup of hot cocoa with tiny marshmallows, while not thinking about calories, and just admiring the festive mug that hugs it This year, I want to stress how imperative it is to shop local in Jessamine County for your family and friends. The local businesses who followed their hearts and started something here at home need our support Remember to visit our local stores first before going to big box stores, because our local business owners will use that money to shop for their own Christmases Throughout this edition, you'll find advertisements from local businesses who would love to see you and earn your business, make sure you tell them hi from Jessamine County Living!

It's basketball time for our local high schools (p 32-33) and there's so much to do and see this season! So, get out there and enjoy all Jessamine County has to offer Spend a day at the St. Nich Fest and Wilmore's Old Fashioned Christmas. Spend a day journaling out those New Year's Resolutions (p 36), and let sweet letters to Santa (p. 42) warm your heart all winter long Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
