TEAM AT SEA AND BEYOND
WELCOME LETTER
Dear Friends,
Welcome to this new edition of Seabreeze, Simpson Marine’s longstanding annual yachting publication.
This is my second opportunity to introduce the magazine since Simpson Marine joined the Sanlorenzo family in March 2024. Over a year on, our commitment to the Asia-Pacific region is stronger than ever, with 10 offices across the region, the opening of our Sydney facility, and new operations in Vietnam and Japan.
We are living through a pivotal moment for Sanlorenzo. Our journey is one of growth and innovation, driven by a clear vision: to redefine yachting through sustainability, creativity, and excellence.
In 2024, we proudly launched the 50Steel ALMAX, the world’s first superyacht powered by a reformer fuel cell using green methanol. This breakthrough innovation generates 100kW of carbon – neutral energy for onboard hospitality, positioning us as pioneers in sustainable marine technology.
We further expanded our portfolio by acquiring Nautor Swan, the legendary Finnish sailing brand, and delivered two hydrogen-powered BGH tenders by Bluegame to support teams at the 2024 America’s Cup – true milestones in our push for zero-emission propulsion.
Already in 2025, we’ve marked major achievements. At the Sanlorenzo Elite Weekend in Phuket, hosted by Simpson Marine in January, I witnessed first-hand the deep connections our owners share with the sea – and with one another. Just days later, at BOOT Düsseldorf, we announced our partnership with MAN for the first bi-fuel engine to power the 50 X-Space, launching in 2027. This will follow the debut of our hydrogen-hybrid multihull, BGM65HH, in 2026.
These innovations are part of our Road to 2030 strategy: a bold plan focused on sustainable transformation and the preservation of our oceans for future generations.
Our passion extends beyond yachting. In June 2025, we opened Casa Sanlorenzo, a cultural space restored by our Art Director Piero Lissoni. More than a showroom, it embodies our belief that a global luxury brand must also be a force for creativity, design, and culture. It is a home for Sanlorenzo Arts – where innovation and imagination converge.
This year also holds special personal meaning: I celebrate 20 years since acquiring Sanlorenzo from its founder, Mr. Giovanni Jannetti. From 72 employees and €42 million in revenue, we have grown to a team of over 1,600 and revenues nearing €1 billion.
This journey has been one of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering belief – in a dream, and in the people who share it. I am deeply grateful to my family, to those early team members, and to everyone who has joined us along the way. It is your trust, passion, and partnership that fuel our success.
Through the pages of Seabreeze, we hope to share that passion with you – our mission to elevate yachting through elegance, innovation, and responsibility, across Asia-Pacific and the world.
It is with profound honour, and a deep sense of purpose, that I embark on the expansion of Sanlorenzo and its distinguished brands – Sanlorenzo, Bluegame, and Nautor Swan – across Asia-Pacific as the newly appointed regional CEO.
Since 2015, Sanlorenzo has distributed its yachts in APAC through the exclusive partnership with Simpson Marine, the most established player in the region with over 40 years of history. This collaboration deepened in 2024, when Simpson proudly became an integral part of the Sanlorenzo Group, opening an inspiring new chapter in our shared journey.
Since assuming this role in early 2025, I have sought to guide our exceptional team into a dynamic phase of growth in one of the world’s most exhilarating and promising markets. APAC stands at the heart of our global strategy, a region with the greatest growth potential and, in our vision, destined to become one of the Group’s foremost markets by revenue contribution.
The integration of Simpson Marine is set to provide a powerful, client-focused distribution platform, bringing Sanlorenzo’s madeto-measure philosophy closer than ever to Asia’s evolving luxury landscape. The momentum is already evident: since the beginning of 2025, revenues have grown significantly compared to the same period last year, while order intake has expanded exponentially over the whole of 2024.
Beyond these results, recent milestones reflect not only the vitality of the market but, above all, the trust and engagement of our clients: the Sanlorenzo Elite Weekend in Phuket, our strong presence at the Singapore Yachting Festival, our debut at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in Australia, and the regional launch of the Bluegame BGM75 –a symbol of our commitment to innovation and sustainability.
With this edition of Seabreeze, I am delighted to share our vision and the achievements that will shape our path forward. As we strengthen the presence of Sanlorenzo, Bluegame, and Nautor
Swan across the region, Simpson Marine will take on an increasingly central role as the Group’s cornerstone brand, delivering bespoke solutions in brokerage, yacht management, and aftersales service. Through personalised attention and an unwavering commitment to excellence, we aim not only to meet but to exceed our clients’ aspirations.
Guided by Sanlorenzo’s ESG commitments, we embrace ecoconscious technologies to preserve our oceans for future generations – a responsibility woven into every facet of our work. By doing so, we ensure that our clients are recognised worldwide and associated with Sanlorenzo’s values of excellence and sustainability.
To our yacht owners’ community,
You are more than owners of extraordinary yachts; you are ambassadors of a lifestyle defined by timeless sophistication and refined elegance. Each Sanlorenzo yacht is a bespoke masterpiece, reflecting your unique vision and individuality, where artistry and craftsmanship converge in harmony.

Recap of the Strategic year 40 years & Acquisition
A
year of transformation: Celebrating 40 years and new beginnings
2024 was a landmark year for Simpson Marine, marking both a significant milestone and the dawn of a new era. As the company celebrated its 40th anniversary, it also embarked on an exciting journey of transformation and growth, driven by its acquisition by the prestigious Italian shipyard that the company has been representing for 10 years – Sanlorenzo.

A new chapter begins
The departure of founder Mike Simpson for a well deserved retirement paved the way for a new chapter under the leadership of Sanlorenzo Chairman, Massimo Perotti. Sanlorenzo’s acquisition of Simpson Marine reinforced the latter’s position as Asia’s leading company for new yacht sales, brokerage, charter, and services. This strategic move not only facilitated the expansion of Simpson Marine with new offices in Sydney and Vietnam but also set the stage for further growth with upcoming locations. The integration of luxury brands such as Nautor Swan and Axopar underscored Simpson Marine’s commitment to solidifying its presence in the high-end yacht market.
Round-the-region celebrations
As Simpson Marine celebrated its 40th anniversary, the company reflected on four decades of growth, unity, and a shared passion for the sea. The celebrations kicked off with the Group Summit in March 2024, followed by stops at the Singapore Yachting Festival, Taiwan International Boat Show, and the Hong Kong International Boat Show. These events allowed Simpson Marine to celebrate with clients, long-term partners, and fellow industry professionals.

From Asia to Asia-Pacific
The acquisition by Sanlorenzo led to the transformation of Sanlorenzo Asia into Sanlorenzo Asia-Pacific, marking a significant step in our journey. This move aims to meet the increasing demand for luxury yachts in the Asia-Pacific market. A major milestone in this expansion is the opening of a new sales office at Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney, positioning us to cater to the region’s rising number of HNWI individuals. Australia, with its vibrant culture and stunning coastline, offers a key opportunity for growth. It is also already home to several of Sanlorenzo yachts. The country’s superyacht market continues to grow, with Sydney, Melbourne, and the Gold Coast becoming hubs for luxury yachts.
The opening of Sanlorenzo Vietnam, in collaboration with O2H2O, with a showroom located at the iconic Hilton Saigon Hotel, also marks an important step in the expansion. This partnership offers Vietnamese clients exclusive access to Sanlorenzo and Bluegame yachts, as well as a curated selection of private jet brokerage and management services. The opening of a luxury showroom in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 provides an immersive, consultative experience for future yacht owners, showcasing Sanlorenzo’s bespoke craftsmanship and fully custom-made yachts designed to reflect each owner’s unique vision.
Impressive displays at regional boat shows
2024 was also a year of strong presence and remarkable premieres for Simpson Marine. At the Singapore Yachting Festival, we unveiled the Asian debut of the Sanlorenzo SD118 and introduced the new Bluegame BGX73. The SD118, with its impressive design and extensive range, marked a new chapter for Sanlorenzo in Asia, while the BGX73 offered a striking blend of innovation unconventional layout and luxury from Bluegame.
At the Taiwan Boat Show, we showcased the highly anticipated Taiwan premiere of the Sanlorenzo SX88 and Bluegame BGX73. The striking, innovative design of the SX88, with its crossover between a motor yacht and an
explorer vessel, was a highlight for many visitors to the boat show. The SX88 also has a signature bespoke interior and innovative features. The Bluegame BGX73 left just as much of an impression. It has an adventurefocused layout and seamlessly connects the indoor and outdoor space. The BGX73 has great appeal for those looking for a perfect blend of performance and comfort, in an effectively elegant shape.
These events and premieres demonstrated ability to deliver bespoke luxury and cutting-edge designs throughout Asia-Pacific.

WHERE LAND MEETS SEA: SANLORENZO & ROLLS-ROYCE MALAYSIA
Sanlorenzo Asia-Pacific and Rolls-Royce Malaysia recently partnered for an exclusive soirée at St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, uniting bespoke yachting with elite automotive craftsmanship. The event invited guests in the Sanlorenzo and Bluegame lifestyle, showcasing the limitless possibilities yachting has to offer. With Southeast Asia’s stunning cruising grounds as the backdrop, discussions centred on the growing appeal of yachting in Malaysia, ownership opportunities, and the integration of sea and shore luxury.
Rolls-Royce presented a stunning lineup, including the Cullinan, Spectre, and Ghost, each epitomising prestige and performance. With yachting’s growing appeal in Malaysia, this evening celebrated the ultimate fusion of luxury across land and sea.
In January 2025, the tropical beauty of Phuket became the stage for a truly unforgettable celebration – the Sanlorenzo Elite Weekend. Crafted exclusively for Sanlorenzo owners, this intimate gathering was more than an event; it was an immersion into the elegance, freedom, and artistry that define the Sanlorenzo lifestyle.
Over two curated days, guests awoke to ocean views starting with a welcome breakfast at the secluded clifftop haven of Kata Rocks. The guests’ days unfolded in perfect rhythm – cruising in convoy across the glassy, turquoise waters to Koh Racha Yai, diving into hidden bays, and soaking up the sun from the comfort of their yachts. As the horizon blushed with sunset, the tempo shifted to the evening of fine dining at the Racha with its artistic programme and live entertainment beneath a canopy of stars.
The weekend was made even more special by the surprise arrival of Sanlorenzo’s Executive Chairman, Massimo Perotti, whose warm welcome and personal connection with owners embodied the brand’s spirit.
The Sanlorenzo Elite Weekend was a reminder that yachting is not simply about the yacht itself – it is about embracing a world where every detail is considered, every moment is savoured, and every experience is elevated to an art form.

The day began with a spirited convoy of yachts departing South Bay for a scenic cruise to Southern Lantau. Anchoring near Mong Tung Wan’s pristine beach, guests enjoyed light refreshments before gathering on a boho-styled terrace for a barbecue lunch against the backdrop of a turquoise sea, enlivened by music from DJ Jessie Li, a friend of Simpson Marine.

THE CANVAS OF THE SEA: SANLORENZO ARTS
The concept of a custom superyacht as a ‘floating work of art’ is well known within the industry. This is unsurprising when you consider the dedication, skill and, above all, supreme creativity which is poured into crafting each custom creation by scores of skilled artisans and craftspeople in order to realise an owner’s vision. But there is no shipyard for whom this description is more apt than Italian builder Sanlorenzo.
Crunching the numbers, at least 180 people will spend approximately 500,000 hours creating one of Sanlorenzo’s 60-65 metre marvels, each of which will wear its “Made in Italy” badge with pride upon delivery. With every brush stroke on the canvas formed either inhouse or by local craftspeople, Sanlorenzo has already harnessed such artistic talents as Rodolfo Dordoni, Citterio Viel, Piero Lissoni (art director since 2018), Patricia Urquiola and Studio Liaigre for its interior designs.
Indeed, ‘art’ for Sanlorenzo is about so much more than creating a beautiful object on the water, it forms an integral part of the company’s ethos and way of being – as evident from its launching of an entire division dedicated to supporting encounters between art and the world of luxury yachting: Sanlorenzo Arts.
This interactive platform navigates some of the most complex and sensitive issues facing our contemporary world through immersive and thought-provoking creative projects, teaming up with renowned artists in order to bring these to life. A key player in global fine art circuits, Sanlorenzo was the Institutional Patron of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice between 20202022 and Global Host Partner of Art Basel for its annual events in Hong Kong, Basel, Paris, and Miami Beach from 2018 to 2023.
Executive Chairman Massimo Perotti explains more: “Art holds a significant place within Sanlorenzo, deeply intertwined with the company’s identity and philosophy. This connection stems from a shared foundation of creativity, innovation, a mutual pursuit of aesthetic refinement and the creation of extraordinary experiences.”
Milan Design Week 2025
Indeed, one such extraordinary artistic experience was found at this year’s Milan Design Week in April, through Sanlorenzo’s immersive installation at the Interni Cre-Action exhibition, which spotlighted Nautor Swan, the Finnish sailing brand acquired by the company in August 2024.
Set in the beautiful Cortile del Settecento at the University of Milan, the work, named Wind Labyrinth, was curated by Piero Lissoni, artistic director of Sanlorenzo since 2018 and took the form of a labyrinth made of sails unfolding across the central lawn.
Visitors were guided around this intricate maze of sails, mainsails and jib sails – reclaimed via an upcycling process – which harnessed the transparency of the fabric, with their contrasting light and shadows, to evoke the continuous movement of the sea, serving as a potent symbol of sustainable living in harmony with nature.
Through this installation, the unstoppable element of wind became a thread which linked the age-old tradition of sailing with the most cutting-edge visions in the world of luxury and innovation.
As with the immersive SUB exhibition from Milan Design Week 2024, the Wind Labyrinth itself offered guests an invitation to experience the sea differently, serving as a metaphor for the Italian
company’s journey towards a greener future, alongside reinforcing the deep connection between art, design and yachting.
Notably, through this installation, Sanlorenzo demonstrated its willingness to take practical action towards achieving environmental goals, as it also displayed three of its most environmentally-friendly vessels in the current fleet, thus showcasing a sustainable future for pleasure boating by highlighting its latest propulsion technology.
These consisted of the Sanlorenzo 50Steel (equipped with the Reformer Fuel Cell system), the latest, innovative hydrogenpowered zero-emissions chase boat, the Bluegame BGG-HSV, and the Swan 88 DreamCatcher, winner of the Eco Award at the BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards for its diesel-electric hybrid propulsion.
Zooming out slightly, Sanlorenzo will also continue on its ‘Road to 2030’ – a strategic path toward carbon neutrality – with the 50X-Space, the first superyacht featuring a bi-fuel engine powered by green methanol. Developed in partnership with MAN Engines and set to be launched in 2027, this system reduces emissions by up to 70%, marking a major step in sustainable yachting. Part of the LIFE MYSTIC initiative supported by the European Union, the project integrates advanced hybrid propulsion and fuel cell technology.

Sanlorenzo Arts - Venice
Looking to the future, there are many more such encounters between arts and yachting to come from Sanlorenzo. 2025 saw the grand unveiling of Casa Sanlorenzo during the Biennale of Architettura in Venice, which now serves as the headquarters of Sanlorenzo Arts.
Located in the south of the city near the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute, Sanlorenzo Arts will foster intelligent discussions by hosting thought-provoking art, design and architecture exhibitions.
Massimo Perotti explains further: “The most significant example of Sanlorenzo’s deep connection to art is the inauguration of Casa Sanlorenzo in Venice, a visionary cultural centre located in a historic building overlooking the Grand Canal. This space, which will be the headquarters of Sanlorenzo Arts, is designed to be a hybrid venue where art, design, innovation, and culture converge, embodying Sanlorenzo’s commitment to fostering new creative languages and contributing to the production of high-quality culture and design.”
In September 2025 Sanlorenzo Casa launched its maiden exhibition, Breathtaking, a powerful photographic installation by acclaimed Italian artist Fabrizio Ferri. First shown in Milan, the series portrays international figures including Susan Sarandon, Julianne Moore and Willem Dafoe encased in plastic, symbolising the silent suffocation of the oceans. The experience is enriched by immersive soundscapes by Marina Abramović and a central installation filled with seawater.
The exhibition was opened to the public from 2 to 7 September, and then from 11 September to 23 November 2025, following an exclusive VIP vernissage on 1 September during the Venice International Film Festival, where Ferri, Dafoe and other special guests attended and unveiled a new portrait of Sting created especially for the project.
It is clear that Sanlorenzo’s creative canvas still has many brushstrokes left to paint, as it blends art, nature, and technology to craft vessels ready to navigate the future of humanity.

Sanlorenzo Celebrates 20 Years of Massimo Perotti at the Helm
On 9 June 2025, Sanlorenzo hosted a celebration at Florence’s iconic Stazione Leopolda to commemorate 20 years of visionary leadership by its Chairman and CEO, Massimo Perotti. The event brought together employees, key figures from the shipyard, and industry stakeholders to honour two decades of innovation, craftsmanship, and unwavering dedication to excellence, while also looking forward to the promising future of one of the world’s most prestigious yacht builders.
A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE
Founded in 1958, Sanlorenzo has established itself as a paragon of luxury in the yachting industry, specialising in the design and construction of bespoke yachts and superyachts ranging from 24 to 80+ metres. Operating through six shipyards in La Spezia, Ameglia, Viareggio, Massa, Arbatax, and Pisa, the company is known for its ability to blend artistry with cutting-edge technology, delivering tailor-made vessels under the Sanlorenzo and Bluegame brands. Sanlorenzo’s global presence spans Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East and Africa, supported by a network of over 1,600 artisans and an international distribution and service network.
Since acquiring the company in 2005, Massimo Perotti has been the driving force behind Sanlorenzo’s transformation into a global leader. His leadership has propelled the company from a revenue of €42 million in 2004 to €930 million in 2024, reflecting a period of extraordinary growth. Perotti’s strategic vision has expanded Sanlorenzo’s portfolio to include the Bluegame and Nautor Swan brands, as well as the acquisition of Simpson Marine, strengthening its position in the Asia-Pacific market.
CELEBRATION AT STAZIONE LEOPOLDA
The event was attended by employees from around the world, who were treated to a private tour of the Uffizi Galleries, offering them a unique experience in the heart of Florence. This cultural highlight aligned with Sanlorenzo’s commitment to art and design, reflecting Perotti’s passion for creativity and setting the tone for the rest of the celebration.
At the gala dinner, the evening began with an interview with Massimo Perotti, where he reflected on the challenges and triumphs of the past two decades. Guests were then served an enjoyable dinner, followed by a live band performance. The event concluded with a toast to “the legacy of Sanlorenzo – and the many chapters still to come.”
MASSIMO PEROTTI: AN EXCEPTIONAL LEADER
Born in Turin in 1960, Massimo Perotti began his career in yachting at the age of 23, working with Azimut-Benetti under the mentorship of Paolo Vitelli. After two decades at Azimut, where he served as CEO, Perotti acquired Sanlorenzo in 2005, taking on the challenge of leading a smaller boutique shipyard. His transition from manager to entrepreneur was marked by a year of mentorship under Sanlorenzo’s founder, Giovanni Jannetti, which Perotti credits for shaping his approach to leadership.
Perotti’s contributions extend well beyond Sanlorenzo. He has served as president of UCINA (Confindustria Nautica) and is a board member at the Superyacht Builders Association (SYBASS). His accolades include the ‘Cavaliere del Lavoro’ honour in 2017, the EY ‘Imprenditore dell’Anno’ award in 2019, and the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the 2023 Boat Builder Awards, recognising his indelible mark on the yachting industry.
Under Perotti’s leadership, Sanlorenzo has embraced innovation, particularly in sustainability. The company has pioneered eco-friendly technologies, such as hydrogenhybrid boats and foiling catamarans, while maintaining its commitment to craftsmanship and design. Perotti’s passion for art and design is evident in Sanlorenzo’s partnerships with Art Basel, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and the establishment of Sanlorenzo Arts, a cultural hub in Venice officially launched in 2025.
A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
The celebration at Stazione Leopolda was not only a reflection on past successes but also a reaffirmation of Sanlorenzo’s commitment to its core values of innovation, quality, and sustainability. As the company looks to the future, it aims to further expand its global presence, particularly in the emerging Asia-Pacific region, while continuing to push the boundaries of yacht design and technology.
SANLORENZO SUPERYACHTS
THE ULTIMATE SELECTION
50Steel
Sanlorenzo has been building exceptional yachts for more than 65 years. The company’s roots are anything but humble, and when Sanlorenzo was founded in 1958, it was driven by a vision to bring the sophistication of Italian design and craftsmanship to yacht building. With well over 1,000 yachts delivered to date, Sanlorenzo has more than proven its deft ability to do so.
Those early days for Sanlorenzo were primarily focused on smaller yachts, and it wasn’t until 2007, with the delivery of the first Sanlorenzo 40 Alloy, that it surpassed the 40-metre mark. Over the past 20 years under Massimo Perotti’s leadership, Sanlorenzo has completed more than 50 yachts exceeding 40 metres in length for its loyal clients. If you toured its facilities today, you’d find not one but four 50-metre+ superyachts in build, including its forthcoming flagship: the 74 metre Sanlorenzo 74Steel.
Official launch of 50Steel ALMAX at Elite Days, May 2024
“This year,” says Massimo Perotti, Chairman and CEO of the Sanlorenzo Group, “we will reach a new milestone in the shipyard’s growth, continually surpassing our achievements with the delivery of the first 74Steel, an imposing 74-metre yacht featuring five decks and a volume of 1,850 GT. Among its key features is the owner’s deck, a level dedicated to the owner’s suite, embodying the centrality of onboard liveability. The 74Steel also plays a pivotal role in Sanlorenzo’s journey towards sustainability. It is equipped with a hybrid dieselelectric propulsion system, representing the best green technology currently available. This system significantly reduces emissions into the atmosphere and the sea while maintaining a high level of onboard comfort.”
Innovation at Sanlorenzo is not just driven by size; it is embedded in every stage of research, development and design, as Perotti explains. “In the two decades of my ownership, my aim has always been to innovate,” says Perotti. “The first decade was characterised by the introduction of new solutions in design, such as the opening terraces within the hull, the asymmetric concept, and the semi-displacement crossovers, along with the collaboration of renowned designers new to the world of yachting.”
This is still true today. Sanlorenzo continues to work with worldclass designers and is constantly refining the lines and engineering of yachts. Currently in build at La Spezia is the revolutionary evolution of the beach club on the 52Steel, which will feature on the forthcoming 52NEO, as well as units from the X-Space explorer range, which deliver exceptional volume without compromising the sleek exterior lines for which Sanlorenzo is acclaimed. The most exciting developments, though, are undoubtedly found in the company’s commitment to driving a sustainable future. In this regard, Sanlorenzo is a true pioneer.
52Steel NEO
“I believe what sets us apart is the ability to drive industry innovation, embracing cutting-edge solutions not only in design – always elegant and comfortable – but also in the field of technology and sustainability, to achieve the ambitious goals of reducing our environmental footprint,” says Perotti. “By 2030, our aim is to launch the first yacht with zero CO₂ emissions.”
Sanlorenzo has already made great strides towards this goal. Among the bustling piers at the Monaco Yacht Show last year, one yacht in particular drew the largest crowds: the 50Steel, the world’s first superyacht equipped with a green methanol Reformer Fuel Cell system. This groundbreaking system, developed in partnership with Siemens Energy, can generate up to 100kW of power with the main engines and diesel generators completely shut down. As a fully carbon-neutral solution, it dramatically extends the yacht’s ability to remain at anchor without burning a drop of diesel. Given that around 90% of a superyacht’s operational time is spent at anchor, this translates to a significant reduction in fuel consumption and an estimated 20–30% drop in annual emissions – all without compromising performance or comfort.
“Methanol is currently one of the most promising alternatives for the future of maritime transportation: it is liquid at ambient temperature, biodegradable, and easy to handle,” Perotti explains. “It does not require dedicated infrastructure, only the adaptation of existing facilities, and is already available in over 100 ports globally. Additionally, if produced from renewable sources, green methanol is a carbon-neutral fuel, aligning with net-zero goals. Today, the number of vessels with green methanol engines and ‘green corridors’ for its use is increasing, especially in Northern Europe, where this green fuel is already available for passenger ships, but also in the Mediterranean.”
With a Reformer Fuel Cell system, a Type C containment tank for green methanol, and two diesel-electric MAN engines, you’d expect to lose precious real estate. Yet Sanlorenzo, true to its innovative spirit, patented the Hidden Engine Room (HER) system, which consolidates all propulsion and technical machinery onto a single under-deck level. This layout frees the entire lower-deck volume for living areas without altering the yacht’s sleek exterior profile, creating an impression of even greater onboard space. The 50Steel exemplifies this design with its tiered structure featuring five multi-level decks that together create ten unique levels. This spatial optimisation approach was first introduced on the SP110 range, but with the 50Steel’s 499 GT volume, the effect on interior space is even more pronounced.
50Steel
Nowhere is this more evident than on what would be considered the main deck. With a raised saloon aft and a glass-sided staircase leading down to the formal dining area, this lower space benefits from an unprecedented 3.7 metres of ceiling height above the dining table. Once onboard, you’d never believe you’re on a sub-60-metre yacht. She offers a mix of vast open social spaces and intimate retreats, making her an ideal family yacht.
The exterior design is by Zuccon International Project, and the studio beautifully encapsulated the forward-thinking spirit of the 50Steel with refined, futuristic penmanship. Huge deck spaces cascade aft, culminating in the lower deck, aptly named the Ocean Lounge. With the winged bulwarks and transom lowered into open terraces, the space extends to an incredible 135-square-metre beach club, complete with a swimming pool and ample lounging space.
Lissoni & Partners was responsible for the interior design. As a long-term partner of Sanlorenzo – ALMAX represents their fortieth project together – the styling from the Italian design house is in strict harmony with Sanlorenzo’s spirit. The design is modern yet traditional, with rich and vintage materials juxtaposed against a colour palette that is as bold as it is muted. Piero Lissoni has previously described the styling as “classically Italian with a Japanese purity.”
Upper lounge on 50Steel
ALMAX comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests across five staterooms, including the full-beam owner’s cabin, which features an office, an ensuite bathroom, and his-andhers walk-in wardrobes. Other highlights include a glassfronted pool and wet bar on the sun deck and a complete wellness suite on the lower deck, complete with a spa and hammam. There is also space for a 7-metre tender and plenty of water toys in the forward tender garage.
For Sanlorenzo, green is the new black. A concerted effort is being made to research, develop and deliver the most ecoconscious yachts on the market. ALMAX is an early step in this journey, and with many orders already placed, several sister ships will be on the water in the coming years.
Construction has also begun on the world’s first yacht equipped with a bi-fuel green methanol propulsion system, developed in partnership with MAN. Sanlorenzo will pioneer this groundbreaking system on the new 50 X-Space, the largest unit in its explorer series. Innovation within tradition is the Sanlorenzo promise – and every superyacht from its portfolio delivers this in spades.

Key highlights include generous owner and guest accommodations, side balconies, a swimming pool on the aft deck, a vast beach club and wellness suite. The first 50Steel is also the first vessel to host the innovative green methanol Reformer Fuel Cell system, which can provide 100kW for the onboard hotellerie.
The Sanlorenzo X-Space series comprises classic navettas with an explorer’s spirit. They come in two sizes – 45 and 50 metres – and, being spread across five decks, both boast incredible volumes. There is no mistaking the elegance of Sanlorenzo in this range, and with the efficient displacement hull and generous living space, these yachts are highly capable – nowhere is off-limits.
The Sanlorenzo X-Space is voluminous enough for a dedicated owner’s deck, complete with a forward-facing suite, a walk-in wardrobe, a bathroom, a sky lounge, and private al fresco spaces
forward and aft. Accommodation is up to for 12 guests in total, with five en suite staterooms on the lower deck. Other highlights include a huge aft deck with fold-out sea terraces and a pool, as well as a comprehensive beach club.
The 50 X-Space will host, by 2027, a bi-fuel green methanol propulsion system, which is expected to reduce emissions by up to 70%. This groundbreaking innovation, developed in partnership with MAN, is an industry first. There is no other yacht in the world where you can find this technology.

64Steel Panorama Edition
on the spirit of Sanlorenzo MASSIMO PEROTTI
Sanlorenzo has a long history of weaving beauty with innovation to create some of the most sought-after yachts on the water. To date, the Italian shipyard has delivered well over 1,000 yachts. Open the pages of any industry report, and you’ll see that their new build orders outperform every other shipyard. Sanlorenzo is one of the best – by any metric.
But how do they do it? What is the secret to Sanlorenzo? In short: The People.
“In an industry where quality is paramount, having the best people is essential,” explains Massimo Perotti, Chairman and CEO of the Sanlorenzo. “We focus on their expertise and invest in their development. It’s crucial to involve them, delegate responsibilities, monitor results, communicate effectively, and integrate diverse skills. Without our people, the achievements we’ve reached so far wouldn’t have been possible. We conduct business with great care, prioritising people over mere profit or commercial success.”
Across its six shipyards in northern Italy, Sanlorenzo employs over 2,000 highly skilled artisans, directly and indirectly, all committed to the pursuit of excellence. The company deliberately limits the number of yachts
it builds each year, treating every new delivery as a handcrafted masterpiece, carefully curated for each client. Yet what truly sets Sanlorenzo apart is that while creating extraordinary experiences for its owners, it does not overlook the experience within its own shipyards. Sanlorenzo looks after its people, fostering a company culture where a work-life balance is valued as highly as craftsmanship and innovation.
“Our goal is to expand the company while maintaining a balance between volume and revenue, ensuring success for stakeholders and fostering a fulfilling life for our employees,” says Perotti. “I aim to secure the best possible quality of life for my team – encouraging efficient work, financial prosperity, and the enjoyment of family time.”
By looking after its people, Sanlorenzo is looking after its art. Each Sanlorenzo yacht bears the hallmarks of passion and skilled craftsmanship – fingerprints that only a cultured shipyard could create. Commercially, this approach speaks for itself. Under Perotti’s leadership, Sanlorenzo has seen remarkable financial growth, opening possibilities to reinvest substantial capital into creativity and innovation. The company has the resources to experiment – and from these experiments, some of the world’s greatest superyachts have been conceived.
“Even with the exponential growth of the company since 2005, we have always remained true to our origins and philosophy: innovation within tradition,” Perotti explains. “The spirit of Sanlorenzo embodies the drive for continuous innovation across each area of our business while epitomising the Italian concept of ‘beauty’. A blend of elegance, design mastery, quality, and craftsmanship is deeply rooted in our DNA – a knowledge based on competence and experience, which underpins our ability to offer vessels uniquely tailored to the dreams of our clients.”
Striving towards aesthetic and engineering refinement has been central to Sanlorenzo’s success for 20 years. The first decade under Massimo Perotti’s leadership was defined by partnerships with world-class designers, including Rodolfo Dordoni, Citterio Viel, Studio Christian Liaigre, Piero Lissoni (Art Director of the company since 2018), and Patricia Urquiola. Together, they helped Sanlorenzo push the boundaries of yacht design. This period saw the introduction of groundbreaking innovations, such as the asymmetrical layout and terraces within the hull, redefining traditional design rules.
New flagship of the yacht division - SD132
“Today, our focus is marked by a desire to develop and offer sustainable yachting solutions,” says Perotti. “We are shifting our attention to pioneering technological innovations and acting as a positive revolutionary force in yachting. To this end, we have developed a strategic plan, ‘Road to 2030’, with ambitious projects to minimise our ecological footprint. Notable milestones in 2024 include the launch of the 50Steel ALMAX, the world’s first superyacht equipped with a green methanol Reformer Fuel Cell system, and the development of the Bluegame BGH-HSV, a chase boat powered exclusively by hydrogen.”
Even while leading this green revolution in yachting –with sustainability now the primary focus of Sanlorenzo’s business growth – its spirit remains steadfast. However far it pushes innovation, the company has not forsaken tradition or the pursuit of perfection. Instead, it has fused haute craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to create a cleaner, more sustainable way to enjoy yachting.
“Building on the success of ALMAX” Perotti continues, “we are now embarking on an even more pioneering endeavour: the development, by 2027, of the first bi-fuel propulsion yacht, in partnership with MAN, utilising green methanol. This system will be installed on the new 50 X-Space, which aims to reduce emissions during navigation by up to 70%.”
Sanlorenzo is well on track to launch the first carbon-neutral yacht by 2030, as outlined in its ‘Road to 2030’ strategic plan. Sustainable innovation will remain a core driver of the company. With a strong focus on expanding into global markets, such as Asia-Pacific, these next-generation yachts are readily available through Simpson Marine.
Few companies offer the chance to be part of the future while preserving the past. Sanlorenzo does both: delivering smarter, more efficient experiences on the water without compromising the timeless spirit of the heritage excellence.

A Conversation with Mimo Stelitano
In late June, the elegant Sanlorenzo SD90 lay at anchor in Hong Kong harbour, hosting a select gathering of Sanlorenzo yacht owners for an intimate afternoon with a special guest from Italy. Mimo Stelitano, Head of Architecture & Interior Design at Sanlorenzo, joined the group for a relaxed yet engaging conversation. With coffee in hand and the harbour as a backdrop, guests enjoyed a rare opportunity to explore the inspirations, philosophies, and creative decisions shaping one of the most respected names in luxury yacht design.
Designing with Purpose
As the leader of Sanlorenzo’s architecture and interior department, Stelitano collaborates closely with acclaimed designers including Piero Lissoni, Patricia Urquiola, and Style Director Sergio Buttiglieri. His role is to unite the technical and the aesthetic – ensuring that each yacht harmonises engineering precision with comfort and visual poetry.
Guided by Sanlorenzo’s “made-to-measure” ethos, Stelitano approaches every project as a one-off commission rather than a repeatable template. With the shipyard producing only around 60 yachts per year, there is time and space to realise truly bespoke creations – designs that capture the individuality of each owner while reflecting the brand’s enduring elegance.
Shaping Yachts for the Asia–Pacific Lifestyle
Since 2015, more than 80 Sanlorenzo yachts have been delivered to Asia–Pacific clients, many of which bear the hallmark of Stelitano’s sensitivity to regional tastes. Interior adaptations often include round dining tables for convivial shared meals, colour palettes inspired by local aesthetics, and layouts attuned to tropical climates and water-based living.
“These choices are not just decorative,” Stelitano noted. “They speak to deeper cultural patterns – how people gather, how they live aboard, and how they wish to connect with the sea.”

A Design Dialogue at Sea
During the afternoon, guests posed a range of questions – each prompting reflections on Sanlorenzo’s past, present, and future.
1. What is your favourite project?
MS: “The new SL110A is particularly meaningful, it continues the heritage of our flybridge line that began 30 years ago with the first SL100 for the Asian market. What excites me most are its defining features: the clean, refined aesthetic; the asymmetric layout that creates more space; the full-beam owner’s cabin with a private terrace; and the stern pool, which elevates outdoor living. Working with Piero Lissoni on the interior has brought an elegant, timeless sophistication to the entire project.”
2. Which new models will resonate most with Asia?
MS: “The new SL80A is fascinating. It’s the most compact yacht in our range, yet it retains all the craftsmanship, detailing, and philosophy that define Sanlorenzo. For many owners, it offers a first step into our world – a chance to experience our quality and personalisation, often leading to a long-term relationship with the brand.”
3. How will interiors evolve over the next decade?
MS: “For me, design must mirror lifestyle – both on land and at sea. Spaces will become increasingly flexible, able to transform with the moment: a quiet reading nook in the morning, an entertaining space by evening. And crucially, the division between interior and exterior will continue to dissolve. You should feel the sea as part of your living space, not something apart. We began this journey with the SX88, and now the new SX120 refines it further – bringing the marine environment right into the heart of life onboard.”
4. Balancing technology and timelessness
MS: “Technology will always advance, but our elegance comes from craftsmanship and customisation. Every yacht is unique, built around the owner’s vision. That care in materials, proportions, and details ensures that, even as sustainability and innovation progress, each Sanlorenzo remains timeless.”
Design Begins with Listening
This gathering was less a formal presentation than a shared moment of insight between designer and owners. It revealed that beyond performance and innovation, what truly shapes the next generation of yachts is an understanding of how people wish to live at sea.
As the conversation drew to a close and the SD90 gently swayed at anchor, one sentiment lingered: Sanlorenzo’s yachts are not simply built, they are crafted around human stories, regional nuances, and a deep connection to the sea. And in that, they remain forever distinctive.

SPOTLIGHT: NEW MODELS
SL110A
Asymmetric Innovation
Sanlorenzo’s latest evolution of its iconic flybridge series features a distinctive asymmetric layout, offering greater interior volume without compromising the yacht’s sleek profile. A full-beam owner’s suite with a private terrace, expansive social spaces, and a stern pool make this model a masterclass in luxury and connection to the sea.
SL86A
The SL86A’s removed port-side passage creates an open main deck with seamless flow. The hidden stern stairs reveal a generous tender and jetski garage, while full-height windows bathe the space in light and forge a direct bond with the sea. Crafted for owners who cherish expansive living, seamless indoor-outdoor harmony, and quintessential architectural elegance.
The Spatial Maestro SX120
Crossover Flagship
The new flagship of the SX line, the SX120 perfects Sanlorenzo’s open-concept approach. Expansive windows, fluid interior–exterior transitions, and a vast beach club create a yacht designed to immerse guests in the marine environment from every angle.
Dreams aren’t made; they’re built by SANLORENZO
Building a yacht is like being that child again, sitting at the high kitchen table with a thick crayon in hand, scuffing out crude sails on an oversized hull upon a foreground of deep-cut half-moon waves and the odd dorsal fin breaking through the waterline.
Yacht designs, drawn from a child’s imagination. We’ve all created them. But being able to realise this fantasy – and in actual, very real conditions – later in life is nothing short of the ultimate dream.
When we talk yachts, we typically focus on the beauty, the engineering and the freedom that yachting offers. What is rarely spoken about is the excitement of building one. The magic of seeing a sketch come to life. Not just any sketch, yours. It’s a truly personal journey, and Sanlorenzo knows how to make this experience exceptional.
Sanlorenzo is both a semi-custom and custom yacht builder. They have a fleet of tested – and, more often than not, award-winning – models designed by some of Italy’s most acclaimed studios. All unique, yet all truly Sanlorenzo. Nick Stratton, CSO at Simpson Marine/Sanlorenzo APAC, explains how to choose the designer that’s right for you.
“Ultimately,” says Stratton, “it comes down to a single question: ‘What is the envisioned use for the yacht?’ How the yacht will be used dictates most major decisions: hull design, autonomy, and interior layout and styling. If you’re a big entertainer, then you’d want large social spaces. If you plan to travel far and wide with smaller, more intimate groups, range and efficiency become more important.”
While the exterior design is often fixed, the sheer number of customisable options ensures that every Sanlorenzo is bespoke – a true one-of-one. “There’s so much freedom for the client to express themselves when building any of our yachts,” explains Stratton. “Owners sometimes like to work with designers they are familiar with, yet more often than not, most will choose to work with our in-house team, drawing inspiration from previous projects and infusing their personality into the process. It’s a deep dive into individual style and taste, and often the most exciting part of the journey.”
Defining the look and feel is an organic process. Hand-selecting the materials and curating everything on board, from the art pieces to the cutlery, and of course, the tenders and water toys to fill the garage, is part of the fun.
“The team at Sanlorenzo headquarter is excellent,” says Stratton. “They are passionate about the brand and yachting, and they have all the contacts and experience to craft the perfect project every time. The secret to a successful new build is understanding the client and knowing how to work together – this is something Sanlorenzo does exceptionally well.”
From the moment the keel is laid, it typically takes Sanlorenzo between 24 to 36 months to complete a yacht for delivery. This timeline can vary
depending on the yacht size and degree of customisation. The later the construction stage, the less room for personalisation, yet the sooner you can take delivery. It all depends on what matters most to you.
However you choose and irrespective of the type of yacht you decide to build, you can expect an experience like no other. When you build a yacht, you’re not picking something out of a catalogue; you’re bringing a vision to life. There is no greater expression of yacht ownership.
1. CHOOSING THE PERFECT MODEL
Sanlorenzo specialises in yachts from 24 to 80 metres in length. There is a wide selection, with something to suit every type of yacht owner. How you enjoy spending time on the water and what you intend to do with the yacht will determine the right model for you. The commercial and technical terms will then be finalised, and a delivery date will be scheduled.
3. SHOPPING ‘MADE IN ITALY’
Most owners truly embrace the ‘Made in Italy’ appeal that Sanlorenzo offers and often choose loose furnishings from Italian design houses. Representatives will accompany you on a shopping trip to select everything you desire on board, from the furniture to the linings and everything in between.
4. THE FIRST SPLASH
When the yacht is built, painted, and nearing completion, it will be rolled out of the shipbuilding hall and launched into the water for the first time.
This is a major milestone in the yacht’s construction and signals that delivery is approaching.
2. FILLING IT WITH PERSONALITY
Starting with your wishlist, the design team at Sanlorenzo will either work independently or collaborate with your chosen interior designers to develop a general layout that works best for you. Everything will be optimised for how you intend to use the yacht. A mood board will then be created, outlining the overarching theme and philosophy. Materials will be selected, and 3D renderings will be produced. While all of this is taking place, Sanlorenzo will have already begun construction.
5. CHAMPAGNE TOAST
There’s a grand celebration at the Sanlorenzo shipyard when the yacht is complete. The yacht will be launched during an exclusive ceremony, and you’ll be invited to smash a bottle of champagne on the anchor plate. This tradition, which dates back centuries, is a way to bless the new yacht for good luck and safe travels.
6. THE MAIDEN VOYAGE
After delivery, you have two options: enjoy your maiden voyage in Europe, setting off directly from the shipyard, or have your yacht shipped to Asia. Shipping is secure, straightforward, and relatively quick, with regular sailings to Asia. Simpson Marine can help craft the perfect itinerary, wherever you choose to cruise.
7. LIFELONG CARE
Sanlorenzo has one of the largest aftersales networks, strategically located in all major yachting destinations worldwide – including throughout Asia-Pacific. Wherever you choose to base your yacht, you can rest assured that a team of highly experienced, in-house trained Sanlorenzo engineers will be nearby and able to reach you quickly and efficiently.
FLYING FORWARD WITH BLUEGAME
Bluegame is hands-down one of the most exciting yachting brands on the market today. Its commitment to pushing the needle of innovation is truly unsurpassed. Last year was high-octane and hydrogenpowered. It was a white-knuckle, exhilarating ride as the BGH-HSV supported not one but two competing yachts in the America’s Cup. Innovation has never been this fast or this cool.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the performance of our HSV throughout the two months of intense sailing in Barcelona,” says Luca Santella, Head of Product Strategy at Bluegame. “Our BGH-HSV has been recognised among the top-performing chase boats in the fleet, excelling in both pure performance –reaching an impressive 50 knots – and outstanding sea-keeping abilities. Its unmatched stability and safety during flight were equally celebrated.”
Bluegame BGH-HSV support tender for the America’s Cup 2024
With NYYC American Magic making it to the Louis Vuitton Cup Semi-Final, the hydrogen chase boat truly proved its might during the competition. Coming out with little to no war wounds from the battleground, the America’s Cup makes an impressive case for hydrogen as the alternative fuel-sourced holy grail that the superyacht industry is in hot pursuit of. According to Santella, one of the most striking differences they found with the hydrogen powertrain was the comfort of the ride.
“Sailing through the choppy seas of Barcelona at speeds of 30–35 knots felt remarkably smoother and more stable compared to traditional powerboats. Flying steadily at 30 knots in Force 3–4 Beaufort winds was nothing short of incredible,” Santella recalls. “This capability truly highlights the advanced design and engineering of our HSV. It’s a level of performance that exceeded even our own high expectations, demonstrating that innovation and meticulous craftsmanship can deliver extraordinary results, even in challenging conditions. The reduced vibrations and noise levels further elevated the onboard experience, making it a true testament to modern maritime technology.”
While the performance-spec BGH-HSV chase boats we saw glide along the Spanish coastline aren’t intended for commercial release, they did offer a taste of some of the pioneering technology that we can expect to see on Bluegame’s forthcoming yachts, including the very special BGF45, demand for the market.
“From advancements in composite construction and power management systems to hydrodynamics, flying software, and hydrogen power integration, there is a wealth of knowledge ready to be transferred from the BGH-HSV to our future production models,” says Santella. “These innovations allow us to bridge the gap between competition-level technology and customer-ready solutions as we set a new benchmark for what’s possible in the luxury yachting industry.”
The striking images of the BGH-HSV lifting out of the water, cutting through the waves on razor-thin appendages –technically known as hydrofoils – are now a feature available for the leisure boater. Bluegame has taken the advanced technologies pioneered on the BGH-HSV, making minor modifications to ensure it’s easy to use for leisurely usage.
“The BGF45 draws heavily from our expertise in foil design and lightweight composite construction,” says Santella. “While this new model won’t achieve full flight like the BGHHSV, it’s designed to skim effortlessly over the water’s surface with the aft part of the hull. Considering the vessel’s mass, achieving this capability required extensive studies and advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to ensure optimal behaviour and performance.”
Orders are already placed for the BGF45 and, as with all Bluegame models, it incorporates the most forward-thinking innovations without compromising the much-loved userfriendly and intuitive DNA the company stands for. It was for this reason that Bluegame opted for a traditional Volvo Penta IPS drivetrain instead of the hydrogen/battery-powered system used in the BGH-HSV. “These choices were essential to deliver a market-ready vessel that balances advanced technology with user-friendliness and reliability, ensuring it meets the needs and expectations of our discerning clientele,” explains Santella.

Bluegame has also teased other new models, including a new flagship, which will be announced by the end of this year. The BGX83 will not only be the largest model in Bluegame’s crossover range, but upon delivery, it will be the largest Bluegame to date. Specific details are still tightly under wraps, but Santella assures, “Rest assured, it will introduce innovative solutions and layouts under the design principles that define Bluegame DNA.”
Few companies push the boundaries of yachting quite like Bluegame, and with the new power catamaran models unveiled, the coming year is promising to be yet another eradefining year for the Italian builder. “While we continue to explore and implement cutting-edge innovations, our core principles remain unchanged,” says Santella. “We will always prioritise outstanding sea-keeping abilities, functionality, and a deep connection with the water.”

Taking Flight: NAUTOR SWAN Looks to the Future
What springs to mind when you think of the year 1984? The Los Angeles Olympics? The launch of Apple’s first Macintosh computer? The re-election of Republican President Ronald Reagan in the US? If you’re the Finnish sailing specialist, Nautor Swan, the year has even more significance. It marked the first ever partnership of its Swan Cup by the iconic Swiss luxury watchmaker, Rolex, organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) in Porto Cervo.
Fast-forward to the present day and we have seen 22 of these exceptional regattas take place – which is now a firm fixture in every respectable racing calendar – with 101 Swans flocking in from around the globe to northern Sardinia in September 2024
The Rolex Swan Cup sardinia
for this very special 40-year celebratory edition of the Cup. Those in attendance were treated to five days of exhilarating racing in varied weather conditions, celebrating common values, friendship and a passion for sailing.
Naturally, there were too many nail-biting moments to mention, but just some of the many highlights included Freya, a Swan 90 skippered by US owner Donald Macpherson securing four straight race wins in the Maxis and the Swan 60 CR Sea Quill bagging four bullets in the Mini Maxi Class. Macphearson was naturally delighted with the outcome, saying: “I’m as happy as I have ever been in my life. It has been a fantastic week. The Rolex Swan Cup here in Porto Cervo is a premier event in a premier location for sailing.”
PASSING THE BATON
The 2024 edition of the Rolex Swan Cup also served as a major milestone for Nautor Swan, as it presented the opportunity for Chairman Leonardo Ferragamo to pass the baton to Massimo Perotti in his first public appearance at a regatta following Sanlorenzo’s acquisition of a majority stake in Nautor Swan in early 2024.
This not only gave Perotti the chance to explain why Sanlonenzo is a winning choice for the future of the company, but also to rub shoulders with some of the most influential figures in sailing, even taking to the water himself alongside such legends as seven time world champion and Olympian Paul Cayard.
MAXI STYLE WITH ECO-CREDENTIALS
Although there was an impressive variety of Swans of all shapes and sizes on the water in Porto Cervo, this has not dissuaded Nautor Swan from continuing to innovate. Alongside the introduction of the ClubSwan 28 and ClubSwan 43, 2024 saw the debut of the first ever Swan Maxi 88 with diesel-electric propulsion (a system developed with Torqeedo), in a clear nod towards securing a long and sustainable future for the brand. As CEO Giovanni Pomati highlights: “The path toward selfsufficiency through hydrogeneration seems to be the most coherent and secure solution for sailing yachts.”
Notably too, Pomati explains that this offering could also be expanded to other models in the range: “We are building a medium sized boat with different partners – a Swan 51 – and a maxi yacht, the Swan 128 to be launched in 2025,” he highlights. “For a sailboat to be self-sufficient and generate onboard energy with different systems, from solar to hydrogeneration, is entirely possible, minimising the use of traditional fuels as much as possible.”
The Swan 51 (a mid-sized performance cruiser) premiered at Cannes Yachting Festival, and the Swan 128 – the largest vessel in the Maxi range to date; the crowning jewel in the lineup –will make its much-anticipated debut in Monaco 2025.
EXPANDING HORIZONS
Alongside these technical innovations and new launches, last year also saw Simpson Marine become the official representative for Nautor Swan in the Asia-Pacific Region, as it looks to consolidate its presence and strengthen the Nautor Swan brand across established and upcoming Asian markets.
As Pomati emphasises: “The Asian market is important for the entire boating industry, always in search of new owners. The development of new consumption and vacation models, even in Asian scenarios, leads us to believe there will be further growth, and a partner like Simpson Marine is crucial for success.”
For Pomati, it is likely to be the smaller and medium-sized yachts which he anticipates being more popular in these areas, due to their status as being more “manageable and easier to handle”, however, he is certainly not ruling out a potential boost amongst larger vessels, especially if the correct infrastructure is put in place.
Pomati explains: “Every market holds great surprises, and I could be wrong. In Asia, there are regions where sailing is already very interesting and widely practiced, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong and Phuket. Perhaps an area of development is to create a network and support system to make the transition from one district to another smoother, so that boats can move as is their nature, rather than remaining confined to their home ports.
Swan 51
Indeed, it is often examples of the Maxi yacht range from Nautor Swan which turn the most heads on the water, wherever they’re found in the world, due to the beauty, engineering prowess and sheer size of these vessels, which span from the Swan 88 all the way up to the in-build Swan 128. “The range of maxi Swan yachts proves to be the most reliable and established, the result of significant research and experience, and it is a reference for style and quality,” Pomati says.
JOINING THE CLUB
As for prospective owners in the APAC region who are not yet experienced sailors but would like to become involved in the sailing community, the best way is to make a beeline for the stunning coastlines of Porto Cervo, Saint Tropez or Bonifacio and feel the spray on their faces for themselves at a future regatta. “The Swan family is, by definition, welcoming, and our ClubSwan is able to help owners who want to start participating. The first step is to be present and begin to feel the atmosphere. From there, the desire to engage in a Swan project is sure to be immediate,” explains Pomati.

When it comes to booking a charter experience or deciding to charter one’s own vessel in today’s crowded market, it can feel overwhelming. Thanks to the plethora of choices out there, and with a world of breathtaking locations to explore, knowing where to begin can pose a real challenge.
This is where the Sanlorenzo Charter Fleet steps in. For over half a century, Sanlorenzo has been crafting tailormade motor yachts which merge luxury, comfort and contemporary design, raising the bar for quality within the industry through every delivery. As of 2022, the shipyard acquired Equinoxe Yachts, adding its 40 years of charter and sales management and consultancy experience (as well as an impressive 10,000 charter contracts) to its arsenal.
With this expert team firmly in place, Sanlorenzo now offers the yachting sector’s first-ever single-brand charter programme, which is already taking the industry by storm: The Sanlorenzo Charter Fleet. For both prospective charter guests and owners, the advantages of the Sanlorenzo Charter Fleet are numerous. Firstly, a vessel and crew of the highest quality is guaranteed, as these are all vetted through MYBA’s exacting processes and standards.
This offers peace of mind for both owners and charter clients, as they know that the yacht will be maintained in turnkey condition at all times and that the onboard experience will be nothing short of exceptional. Plus, they can benefit from a made-to-measure service which optimises yacht management. Yacht charter offers the opportunity to reduce management costs by obtaining income during the charter period.
Other bonuses for those enrolled include a comprehensive consultancy service which encompasses legal, administrative and management aspects, as well as the guarantee of a replacement Sanlorenzo vessel in the very unlikely event of last-minute unavailability.
So, if you do decide to embark on a Sanlorenzo Charter Fleet adventure, what could you be enjoying? Here, we spotlight a select few vessels to give you a flavour of the unparalleled ‘Made in Italy’ excellence on offer.

As for the client feedback for the Sanlorenzo Charter Fleet, it speaks for itself. We can give the final word to an Italian client who recently chartered a SD90 in the Balearics:
“Our week aboard the Sanlorenzo SD90 was pure luxury. The captain was highly skilled, and the crew was friendly and attentive. The yacht itself was stunning, with impeccable design and endless water toys, making every moment on board exceptional.”
He continues: “The chef impressed us with international cuisine, and the master cabin offered elegance and comfort. Cruising was smooth and relaxing, and despite my high expectations, this experience exceeded them all. It was a fantastic week and an experience I’d repeat without hesitation.”

REGIONAL GROWTH NEW MARKET SPOTLIGHT
A USTRALIA, VIETNAM & JAPAN
Asia-Pacific is truly the world’s ultimate yachting destination. It has it all: jaw-dropping natural beauty, more than 25,000 islands to explore, seas with the richest biodiversity, delicious cuisines, and huge cultural diversity. No two trips are ever the same here; the only thing they share is a journey through paradise.
We’re proud to have served the region for 40 years, sharing the joys of yachting with newcomers and ensuring their time on the water is always unforgettable. Whether it’s by hosting corporate events on yachts, organising private charters, negotiating purchases and sales, or managing daily operations and routine maintenance, we’ve been supporting Asia-Pacific since 1984.
Sydney Harbour, Australia
With the progressive rise in wealth, new emerging yachting hotspots, the relaxation of maritime legislation and infrastructure improvements there is a notable Asia-Pacific expansion of yachting. According to a recent study by SuperYacht Times, 529 yachts over 30 metres were active in Asia-Pacific between 2022 and 2024, including both the local fleet and visiting yachts. The same report indicates that the number of active yachts in the region is growing year-on-year, with a 38% increase from 2022 to 2024.
Over the past four decades, we’ve grown in tandem with the region’s appetite for yachting. Our headquarters in Hong Kong – which remains one of Asia-Pacific’s largest yachting hubs, with an average of 71 active yachts over 24m per year, according to SuperYacht Times – supports the local market. Hong Kong itself is becoming an ever-richer yachting hub, with numerous new initiatives to turn the city into a mega events centre.
Currently, 27 of the 839 Asian marinas are located in the Greater Bay Area, and numerous development plans are in the works to build more and bigger marinas in Hong Kong. Impressive government plans have been drawn up for a yacht club with 100 berths in Hung Hom and marinas in Kau Yi Chau and Tung Chung, yet the largest will be a 600-berth marina at Hong Kong International Airport, which is set to open within the next six years.
Hong Kong isn’t the only growing region, and Simpson Marine has offices across Asia-Pacific to support many regional markets. Since the acquisition by Sanlorenzo, we’ve expanded even further, opening offices in Australia and Vietnam.
“Last November marked a significant milestone for Sanlorenzo and our Bluegame brand,” says Massimo Perotti, Chairman and CEO of the Sanlorenzo Group. “We expanded our footprint by opening an office in Sydney. During the opening event, we debuted the iconic BGX63 in the country. The following month, we inaugurated a showroom in Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with our partners O2H2O. Over the next decade, we anticipate significant expansion in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in Southeast Asia and Australia.”

AUSTRALIA
Australia, the great island continent, is a haven for yachting. With 105 active yachts over 30 metres cruising in the country, it has a higher concentration of yachts than anywhere else in Asia-Pacific. There’s no wonder, either. Renowned for its love of the outdoors, this passion extends seamlessly onto the water. With approximately 200 sunny days per year, peak summer temperatures averaging 27.4°C, and stunning natural beauty, it’s no surprise that Australia is a premier superyacht destination.
Simpson Marine has now established a regional office at the iconic Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney, overlooking one of the world’s most breathtaking natural harbors. The grand opening was a spectacular celebration, featuring the Australian debut of Bluegame’s award-winning 19-metre BGX63 alongside two exceptional Sanlorenzo models – the innovative SX76 crossover yacht and the superb tri-deck SD126 superyacht – all set against the backdrop of Sydney Harbour.
“We are delighted to present Sanlorenzo and Bluegame to the Australian audience”, says Daniele Lucà, Simpson Marine/Sanlorenzo Asia-Pacific CEO. “Australia is an increasingly important market for our brands and the leading destination for superyacht ownership in APAC, with discerning yachtsmen and women looking for bespoke yachts that offer exceptional comfort, innovationdriven performance, and design excellence tailored to the region’s unique cruising grounds.”
For superyacht owners, Sydney offers a perfect blend of luxury, adventure, and cultural experiences. Glide through the city’s iconic harbor, discovering secluded beaches, lush gardens, and hidden coves. Dock at the Sydney Superyacht Marina, minutes from the CBD, or visit the prestigious Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, home to the famed Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

VIETNAM
Vietnam is a hot up-and-coming destination. Its 3,260 kilometres of coastline, 2,800 islands, and world-class cruising grounds have been quietly attracting yachts for years. With “off-the-beaten-track” destinations now in vogue, and increasing numbers of yachts looking beyond the Mediterranean to more remote, adventurefocused destinations, Vietnam has been reeling them in. But the local market is emerging and lacks a robust infrastructure.
We’ve partnered with O2H2O Vietnam and opened a regional office in Ho Chi Minh City, to encourage this growth. Through our new office, we’re offering all services and our entire fleet of yachts. We will work closely with local organisations to combat challenges such as high import taxes and the complex registration processes. In due time, we see Vietnam blossoming into an established market like neighboring Thailand – which has seen a two-fold increase in the number of visiting yachts per year since 2022.
“Together with O2H2O Vietnam, we will unlock the full potential of Vietnam’s yachting industry leveraging their local expertise, experience and passion for bespoke luxury and yachting,” says Nick Stratton, CSO of Simpson Marine/Sanlorenzo APAC.
JAPAN
Japan should be the perfect storm for a major yachting hub: gorgeous cruising grounds with thousands of islands to explore, major world capital cities, and a cultural fusion of tradition and modernity. However, restrictive legislation has held the yachting industry back for some time alongside a lack of berthing for larger yachts. This is beginning to change.
Earlier this year (2025), construction began on Asia-Pacific’s largest superyacht facility in Kobe City. The upcoming Superyacht Base Kobe Marina will feature 1.4 kilometres of usable quays, offices, restaurants, and a yacht club. Services are expected to open as early as next year.
This ambitious project not only reflects significant investment to attract more yachts to Japan but also highlights the country’s growing local interest in yachting. In fact, one of the largest and most innovative yachts to be completed this year will be delivered to a Japanese client. Sanlorenzo APAC has been supporting this increasing enthusiasm from the office in Yokohama, offering a full range of services along with a variety of brokerage and new boats available for purchase.
Yokohama, Japan’s second-largest city, offers a distinctive blend of traditional Japanese culture and global influences. Its prime coastal location not only provides stunning bay views and a mild climate year-round but also makes it a hotspot for yachting enthusiasts. Conveniently situated on Japan’s main island, Yokohama serves as an ideal gateway for exploring nearby destinations such as Tokyo, Kamakura, Kyoto, Osaka and Mount Fuji.

SIMPSON MARINE MAKES WAVES FOR SWIM EDUCATION IN HONG KONG
For eight years, Simpson Marine has been a steadfast supporter of the Splash Foundation, helping to tackle swim illiteracy and provide swimming education to disadvantaged communities in Hong Kong. In 2024, the partnership continued with the “Make Waves for Hong Kong” event, a remarkable 45-kilometre multi-relay swim around Hong Kong Island.
The initiative raised over HK$3.3 million, funding swimming lessons for more than 1,700 children and adults from low-income communities. Beyond the fundraising, the event highlights the ongoing commitment of the yachting and marine community to social impact, combining endurance sport with meaningful philanthropy.

THE IMPACT OF SPLASH FOUNDATION
In a city surrounded by 733 kilometres of coastline and over 260 islands, swimming is a crucial life skill. However, nearly half of Hong Kong’s population does not know how to swim. The Splash Foundation is dedicated to providing free swimming lessons to underprivileged communities, including migrant domestic workers, refugees, and children from low-income families. Through teacher training, programme delivery, and public advocacy, Splash improves access to the water and enables thousands of people to learn a life skill that keeps them safe and enhances their physical, mental, and social well-being.
Since its establishment in 2015, Splash has taught over 8,000 individuals to swim, achieving an 88% success rate after only 20 hours of instruction. The foundation’s programmes are designed to be inclusive and supportive, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to learn this vital skill.
AN ENDURANCE CHALLENGE “MAKE WAVES FOR HONG KONG“
Against the breathtaking backdrop of Hong Kong’s coastline, five relay teams representing a cross-section of Hong Kong’s diverse community undertook the unique challenge of swimming 45 kilometres around Hong Kong Island. Each team had six members swimming in 30-minute increments, starting at 2 am from Sandy Bay near Cyberport.
Despite Typhoon Yinxing edging closer to the city, the event proceeded smoothly with thrilling overtakes and lead changes throughout the day. Swimmers navigated Victoria Harbour, reached Chai Wan at sunrise, and passed through the Lamma Channel to complete the circumnavigation. The event featured a diverse range of participants, including Olympians and business leaders. Geoff Cheah, an alumnus of Stanford University and a representative of Hong Kong in the Rio Olympics, and Hannah Wilson, a Physical and Health Education Teacher at King George V and a three-time Olympian for Hong Kong, were among the notable participants.
Inspired by the incredible dedication and spirit of the swimmers in the 2023 edition, Marko Stojanović, Head of Service for Northeast Asia at Simpson Marine, joined Team Blue as one of the swimmers this year. Marko has been a pivotal figure at Simpson Marine since 2020, leading the service team with long-term expertise and dedication. His commitment and passion made him a perfect candidate to participate in this mission to make swimming accessible to all. Team Blue completed the relay swim in 12 hours, 4 minutes, and 51 seconds, and raised over HK$986,000.
“We are honoured to contribute to this meaningful cause, reflecting our ongoing commitment to the community and the transformative power of swimming,” said Marko.

COMPREHENSIVE LOGISTICAL SUPPORT
Simpson Marine, as a long-term partner and supporter of the Splash Foundation, provided four safety boats, a dedicated team to support overnight duties, and seamless logistical support to ensure swimmers’ safety in the water. Their presence on the water was more than just a precaution; it reflected the company’s unwavering dedication to the cause, reinforcing the sense of security and teamwork that defines the Splash Foundation’s community-driven approach.
CONTINUING THE MISSION
Beyond the physical endurance and fundraising success, “Make Waves for Hong Kong” was a celebration of unity, resilience, and the transformative power of swimming. It was a night where personal triumphs met collective impact, where every stroke in the water echoed the belief that swimming is not just a sport, but a vital skill that should be accessible to all. With eight years of collaboration behind them, Simpson Marine and the Splash Foundation are already looking ahead to the future, determined to continue making a difference, one wave at a time.

EMBARKING ON NEW SEAS: MEET DANIELE LUCÀ, SANLORENZO APAC/ SIMPSON MARINE’S NEW CEO
Sanlorenzo’s strategic expansion in the Asia-Pacific region enters a defining chapter with the appointment of Daniele Lucà as regional Chief Executive Officer, shortly after the acquisition of Simpson Marine. The largest subsidiary within the Sanlorenzo Group, Simpson Marine combines unmatched business scale with the widest territorial footprint, standing as Sanlorenzo’s strategic anchor in Asia-Pacific.
In this role, Daniele is entrusted with driving the Group’s growth strategy in APAC while overseeing the integration of Simpson Marine, acquired in 2024. As one of the region’s most established yachting players, Simpson is a multifaceted organisation comprising ten companies, operating in more than ten countries and supported by nearly one hundred professionals. Bringing this extensive platform into Sanlorenzo’s global structure represents
both a managerial challenge and a strategic opportunity: to unlock synergies, foster cohesion, and align diverse teams under a shared vision of excellence.
With over two decades of international leadership across the luxury, energy transition, and automotive sectors, Daniele brings a distinctive blend of M&A expertise, global business development, and operational execution. His career spans Europe, Asia, and the Americas, where he has successfully led large-scale transformations in complex, multi-market environments. Most recently, as Head of Global Sales at Sanlorenzo, he gained a profound understanding of the brand’s DNA, positioning, and client expectations – insights that now guide his mission to accelerate growth and reinforce the leadership of Sanlorenzo and Bluegame across Asia-Pacific.
PROFESSIONAL TRAJECTORY
What drove you to transition from the automotive sector into the yachting world?
The automotive industry was an extraordinary training ground. It gave me the chance to work across continents, within highly structured organisations, and alongside exceptional professionals. It was there that I learned how to lead transformation, manage scale, and deliver results in highly competitive environments.
The real turning point, however, came when I joined Sanlorenzo. For the first time, I was working directly with the entrepreneur and major shareholder, Massimo Perotti, rather than career managers. That proximity to instinct, vision, and long-term purpose was both inspiring and transformative.
Joining yachting was not simply a career step, but a deliberate decision to embrace a company that represents the highest expression of Made in Italy — a unique blend of craftsmanship, innovation, and soul. The opportunity to bring my international experience into such an entrepreneurial context is what ultimately convinced me to embrace this challenge.
How did your previous roles shape your approach to leadership that you apply to Simpson Marine and Sanlorenzo APAC?
My leadership philosophy is the sum of experiences across industries and continents. Early in my career, investment banking in New York instilled discipline in finance, strategy,
STRATEGIC DIRECTION FOR
ASIA-PACIFIC
and execution under pressure. An international MBA broadened that foundation, exposing me to multicultural perspectives and bridging theory with practice in global contexts.
Leading large-scale teams in the automotive and later in the energy transition sectors taught me to integrate cultures under a common vision, remain agile through transformation, and balance rigorous data-driven decision-making with entrepreneurial instinct.
What consistently drives me is clear, inclusive communication, the ability to seize opportunities quickly and decisively, and a relentless focus on the client experience. These are the principles I bring today to Simpson Marine and Sanlorenzo APAC as we navigate an ambitious expansion phase.
What excites you most about the current state of Asia-Pacific’s yachting scene?
Asia-Pacific is undergoing a remarkable transformation. We are witnessing a wave of new marina developments and a new generation of yacht owners who view their yachts not only as status symbols, but as platforms for exploration and discovery. What excites me most is the region’s diversity. Mature markets such as Hong Kong and Singapore are evolving with increasing sophistication, while emerging cruising grounds like Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines are opening entirely new horizons.
Our clients are curious, bold, and culturally attuned. They seek authentic encounters, remote islands, and bespoke journeys that cannot be replicated elsewhere. Asia-Pacific is a cruising canvas where tropical archipelagos meet untamed coastlines, and where every voyage becomes a story worth telling.
What are the expansion plans for Sanlorenzo APAC and Simpson Marine for the coming years?
Our strategy is to reinforce the distinct identity of each of our three brands – Sanlorenzo, Bluegame, and Swan – while progressively moving further upmarket. Each speaks to a different type of owner, with a unique relationship to the sea and to design, yet all are united by timeless elegance, technical mastery, and bespoke excellence.
Geographically, we are expanding our direct presence across AsiaPacific, with selective partnerships only where local specificities demand it, such as in Thailand and Vietnam. We maintain strong roots in mature markets like Hong Kong and Singapore, while intensifying efforts in high-potential territories across Southeast Asia. At the same time, we are pursuing ambitious objectives in Australia and Japan, two mature yet dynamic markets that will become long-term pillars of our growth strategy.
We are also seeing a rising engagement from Chinese clients, whose growing affinity for craftsmanship and individuality aligns perfectly with the DNA of our brands. We are committed to cultivating this relationship with dedication, cultural sensitivity, and a long-term perspective.
Finally, our marketing vision is not simply about visibility but about building community. We aim to strengthen the bond between owners and our brands, enrich the ownership journey, and cultivate a region-wide Sanlorenzo ecosystem that reflects the aspirations and sensibility of those who choose to sail with us.
INSIGHTS & PERSONAL PERSPECTIVES
Your very first impressions of Asia?
Asia struck me with its unique blend of ancient traditions and rapid innovation. Everywhere I went, I felt an extraordinary sense of possibility and energy. And then, of course, came the unexpected humidity and heat.
What’s one story or moment so far in Asia that made you feel at home in your new role?
Being welcomed by the Simpson Marine team across the region has been truly energising. Traveling to various events together and witnessing their dedication and professionalism firsthand reaffirmed my confidence in the team’s ability to deliver exceptional experiences for our clients.
What are your bucket list destinations to visit in Asia-Pacific?
The list is long, but some highlights include Thailand’s Phang Nga Bay and the Andaman Sea islands, Indonesia’s Raja Ampat for diving, Japan for cultural immersion, and Australia’s West Coast with the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef.
Favourite cruising destination?
The Italian Riviera and our national island jewel, Sardinia, hold a timeless charm for me, steeped in natural beauty, heritage, and effortless elegance. That said, I am increasingly intrigued by the unexplored allure of Southeast Asia. Vietnam’s coastline and the scattered islands of Thailand are destinations I am eager to discover, drawn by their cultural richness and the promise of remote, unspoiled cruising grounds.
The Asia Yachting Awards held during Singapore Yachting Festival
What is your life philosophy?
I hold the conviction that the highest expression of excellence lies in the bespoke. There is no greater privilege than seeing one’s vision, taste, and passion for detail materialised through the hands of a master craftsman. It is in this encounter between imagination and savoir-faire that individuality becomes timeless and unique.
This philosophy finds its fullest expression at Sanlorenzo, where every yacht is conceived as a creation that reflects the singularity of its owner. Yet customisation goes beyond the product itself. What truly defines excellence is the ability to shape the entire yachting experience around the individual – from design to service, from the way a journey unfolds at sea to the moments of beauty and intimacy it creates. Every detail is considered, every choice is personal, so that ownership becomes not just about having a yacht, but about living an experience that is unrepeatable.
Such a vision is only possible through the convergence of diverse talents and disciplines – designers, engineers, artisans, and professionals who accompany the client in bringing an idea to life and in tailoring the journey that follows. From this stems my belief that lasting achievements are never solitary. They are born from shared goals, mutual trust, and the richness that emerges when cultures, perspectives, and skills converge. In that encounter, creativity flourishes, challenges are mastered, and the horizon of excellence is continuously expanded.
What are your hopes for the coming year?
Coming to Asia already feels like a dream fulfilled. For my family and myself, I hope for the joy of discovering new cultures and exploring the richness of this extraordinary region together.
Looking ahead, my ambition is for APAC to become an even stronger engine of the Group’s global growth. The Sanlorenzo brand must further consolidate its presence across all major markets, in both yachts and superyachts. Bluegame should continue to assert itself as the true challenger brand in the sub24m segment, while Swan expands its reach, becoming a catalyst for sailing’s growth across APAC.
At the same time, Simpson Marine should remain a symbol of excellence and passion, strengthening its leadership in brokerage, services, and customer experience — and perhaps, in time, evolving beyond Asia into a brand with global resonance.
And, on a lighter note, a few more sunny days and fewer typhoons in the summer would be most welcome.

LAND AND SEA
NICK STRATTON Chief Sales Officer
This past year has been a busy one, with Sanlorenzo’s acquisition of Simpson Marine and numerous deliveries of yachts to both Asia and the Mediterranean. After what can be a very long build period, it’s always satisfying to witness owners enjoying their yachts for the first time. This summer saw the delivery of some notable models, including the stunning Alloy, several SD118s and the jaw-dropping SP110. So, there was a lot to look forward to!
On the personal side, as well as plenty of Hong Kong boating, I enjoyed a fabulous week sailing in the Greek Islands. I try to sail in the Med for a week every year and hope for a longer stint one day.
This year, I started from Athens and cruised the Saronic Gulf, exploring well-known islands such as Poros and Spetzes and many lesser-known
quaint towns and villages. I met many people on mini adventures of their own, sharing stories with them over cold beers.
Following Greece, I promptly travelled to Barcelona to sail the new Swan 51 and explore the impressive Nautor Swan facilities at their full-service Badalona base.
Before the spring and summer months I had a winter break in South America. I enjoyed a guided horse-riding trip through Patagonia’s lakes and mountains, which I had to book two years in advance due to its popularity. The scenery blew my mind: the vastness is so inspiring, and it offered a total disconnect from everyday life. I’ve already booked my next trip for 2027: the Namibia Desert, no wifi, no phone signal, just thousands of acres of riding, camping, campfires and incredible food and wine.

10 YEAR MILESTONE
This was a very special year for both myself and the Simpson Marine team: our 40 years of partnership between Simpson Marine and Sanlorenzo, and my 10 years with the company.
To start the year with a splash, we hosted our first overnight Sanlorenzo Elite Weekend for our yacht owners and their families and friends in beautiful Phuket, Thailand.
The event was held in January, and it took us several months to plan. It was a pleasure to see yachts belonging to Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, Singaporean and Hong Kong owners all gathered together for a weekend of celebrations. Some carried on celebrating their holidays together, while others had already met before for Christmas in Thailand. Having worked for 10 years on building the Sanlorenzo community in Asia, it was truly rewarding to see.
Overall, the event itself was a wonderful experience for our guests and the team, even if it was logistically challenging at times. Long nights and pre-sunrise wake-ups, sweat and tears (both fatigue and joy) were all part of it, but there was a true sense of gratitude and pride by the end, as well as many happy times shared together. Since then, I have met some of the owners on other occasions. It is always a pleasure to reconnect and hear their many inspiring cruising stories.
We are already planning our next owners’ RDV for next year –cast your votes: Hong Kong, Sydney, Indonesia or Singapore?
Aside of the Sanlorenzo flagship event, I also had the chance to spend the afternoon cruising through Sydney Harbour on the occasion of our office launch and exploring the spectacular city seascape, fully appreciating the immense potential of this market for us in APAC.

LIVING THE DREAM: A FAMILY’S WINTER WONDERLAND IN FINLAND
Last Christmas, I embarked on a dream trip to Finland with my family. It had been my childhood dream to see Santa Claus during Christmas, and this year, it finally came true. Our adventure began in Helsinki, a city that glows with festive lights and the cheerful spirit of the season.
After exploring the vibrant Christmas markets, indulging in local delicacies, and marvelling at the stunning architecture, we set off for Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus. The journey through the snow-covered landscapes felt like stepping into a winter wonderland, filled with anticipation and excitement.
Arriving in Rovaniemi, we made our way to Santa Claus Village, a magical place where Christmas comes to life. The look of awe and delight on my daughters’ faces as they met Santa was priceless. It was a joyful moment, as they shared their Christmas wishes and received a warm embrace from the jolly old man himself.
One of the most thrilling moments of our trip was crossing the Arctic Circle. As we approached the invisible line, the excitement and wonder were palpable. It was a truly magical moment.
One evening, we ventured out to witness the starry night sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Although the lights were not as strong as we had hoped, the experience was still breathtaking. The delicate hues of green and purple danced across the sky, creating a mesmerising display that left us in awe.
Our trip to Finland was a dream come true, filled with cherished memories and magical experiences. From the enchanting streets of Helsinki to the heartwarming encounter with Santa Claus in Rovaniemi, every moment was a reminder of the wonder and joy that Christmas brings. Crossing the Arctic Circle and witnessing the Northern Lights, though subtle, added a touch of magic we will never forget.

FROM ONE SWIM TO LIFETIME IMPACT
Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to represent Simpson Marine at the charity swim “Make Waves for Hong Kong”. Held by the Splash Foundation, the event brings swimming education to those in need. It was an experience I’ll never forget.
In the 2023 edition, I was driving one of the safety boats, watching the swimmers push through the waves with determination and grit. Their dedication inspired me so much that I knew right then and there that I had to be a part of it. So, I signed up and very soon started training with my teammates.
Every week, in the early morning chill, we practised swimming in the sea. It was tough – really tough. The cold water was biting, and there were days when I just wanted to stay in bed. But the shared goal kept us going. We were all in this together, and that made all the difference.
The event itself was a 45km multi-relay swim around Hong Kong Island, starting at 2 AM from Sandy Bay. Our team swam in 30-minute shifts, navigating through Victoria Harbour and witnessing the sunrise at Chai Wan. Despite the approaching Typhoon Yinxing, we managed to complete the relay in 12 hours, 4 minutes, and 51 seconds, raising over HK$986,000!
Crossing the finish line was an indescribable feeling. I was exhausted, but the sense of accomplishment and pride was overwhelming. I felt a deep connection to my team and everyone involved. It was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a common cause.
Being part of this event was not just a physical challenge but also a chance to contribute to a cause that means a lot to me. The funds we raised will provide swimming lessons to over 1,700 children and adults from low-income communities. The support from Simpson Marine, with safety boats and our dedicated team of 10 pax, was crucial in ensuring our safety and success.
This journey was more than just a swim; it was a celebration of unity, resilience, and the belief that swimming is a vital skill that should be accessible to all. I’m so proud to be part of this mission and look forward to continuing our efforts to make a difference, one wave at a time.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
After twenty years away, in June 2025, I finally returned to New England, the corner of the United States that I call “home”. Not only is that where I grew up, but more specifically, it’s where my I learned everything I know about boating, where my passion for boating was forged, and where I formed countless memories on and near the water.
From childhood to my university years, my family had a house on the coast of Maine, tucked away on Southport Island near the better-known town of Boothbay Harbor. In both emotional and practical senses, summertime in Maine were extremely formative, and so much of what I felt, experienced, and learned flows directly from days spent on those crisp Atlantic waters.
Having lived in Hong Kong for the last ten years, and being accustomed to life moving quickly and the cityscape changing constantly, driving the rental car down Route 27 on the Boothbay peninsula, my sense of nostalgia was on high alert. As we passed familiar intersections and crossed familiar bridges, I looked at my girlfriend Stacy, smiled and said “it’s amazing to be back – even after twenty years, so much is still the same.”
Over the next few days, Stacy and I wandered all over my old hometown, and our day on the water was the highlight that I want to share with my Simpson Marine family. Very keen to show Stacy where I learned to sail and learned to drive a powerboat, I searched far and wide for a small boat
to rent. Booking a last-minute boat rental during the peak of summer is not an easy task, but I was very lucky to find a small company which was willing to rent us a small powerboat for the day. After signing my life away on the indemnity waiver, we cast off and headed out onto the waters of Boothbay Harbour. Over the next few hours, Stacy and I drove up to my old house, cruised up and down the Sheepscot River, tucked into the aptly named Cozy Harbor (where I learned to sail), and cruised over to a stunning place called Five Islands, tied up to the Visitor’s Dock and enjoyed delicious Maine lobster-rolls with a beautiful view. Once again, so little had changed – I even remember driving past various boats on their moorings, stunning Hinckley yachts next to workhorse lobster boats in their classic “Downeast” shapes, and remembering the same boats on the same moorings twenty years ago.
While this day on the water was truly memorable and enjoyable, my main message for our valued Seabreeze readers is, “if you have the opportunity, rent a boat and explore.” Even if you are accustomed to being driven by your captain on a much larger yacht, I urge you to rent a small powerboat and enjoy feeling the steering wheel in one hand and the throttle in your other. Many countries allow people to rent a small boat with little-to-no formal rules or qualifications, and for just a few hundred US dollars you’ll be guaranteed an amazing day of fresh air and fun – just be sure to brush up on your knot-tying (cleat and bowline are a must) before setting off!

NAVIGATING A NEW CHAPTER
I joined Simpson Marine as the Axopar Brand Manager in August 2024. With seven years of experience in the yacht industry, I’ve had the opportunity to work in various areas such as marketing, operations, projects, sales, and customer relations.
As a true ocean enthusiast, I absolutely love freediving around the world. Tropical weather is my favourite, and I often find myself travelling to places like Cebu and Bohol to explore vibrant coral reefs, swim with majestic whale sharks, and observe graceful sea turtles. The sun, sea breeze, and salty water are much more appealing to me than city life.
Living in Sai Kung, often referred to as the “back garden” of Hong Kong, I enjoy hiking with friends and my dogs. My favourite trails, Tai Long Sai and Ham Tin, offer the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Spending quality time with family and friends is what I look forward to on weekends.
During festivals, I love camping with friends at secluded beaches or campsites. All I need for a perfect holiday are coffee, cooking, and campfires. There’s something magical about those moments.

BEYOND THE FINISH LINE
I am a yacht broker who loves challenging myself. I’m always looking for new goals to conquer and for ways to continue my ongoing sailing journey. These activities not only keep me active but also give me a sense of accomplishment and help to refresh my mind.
Last year, I took on one of my biggest challenges yet: the Oxfam Trailwalker, a 100 kilometre trail running race. The weather was harsh during the event, making the course even more gruelling than we had expected. My friends and I initially aimed to complete the race within 33 hours, but the conditions slowed us down, and it ultimately took us 44 hours to cross the finish line. Despite the setback, the experience was still remarkable. It certainly tested our determination!
Later that year, I also embarked on a different kind of adventure: a trip to Indonesia that took me more than 20 hours from Hong Kong to a small island called Labuan Bajo. From there, we set out on a boat for seven days of diving and exploring the nearby islands. Swimming alongside manta rays, reef sharks, and countless coral fish was an unforgettable experience, and those days living on the boat brought a sense of calm and renewed energy.
Whether I’m closing a yacht project at work, exploring trails, or facing new adventures, I live for the challenges that push me to grow and improve. In 2025, I will follow my colleague from the Service division, Marko Stojanović, and will be one of the swimmers for “Make Waves for Hong Kong”, the annual relay swim of the Splash Foundation, who we have been supporting for nearly a decade.

NAVIGATING PARENTHOOD AND NEW PURSUITS
Over the past year, it all began with the joy of caring for my newborn daughter, who’s now 16 months old and has already mastered the art of expressing her feelings – complete with walking and a talent for playful complaining!
This year I managed to go on a ski trip with my family in Tomamu, Japan, where I skied solo without a coach – I feel like it’s a thrilling achievement for someone who’s not known for being sporty! Bringing my little one there wasn’t easy, but we made it. I’m still not sure whether skiing or taking care of her was easier! But everyone was blessed to have her company on the trip.
Also, this year, I spent more time boating with friends and family, where we braved the chilly air to enjoy stunning fireworks over the water; the beauty of the moment made the cold worthwhile.
After a period of limited socialising because of the little one, I was very happy to attend the Oxbridge Ball with my colleague Kevin, where we had a fantastic time meeting new people.
What a year it has been! 2025 might have been challenging, but in this industry, we are always ready for the next wave.

AN ITALIAN SUMMER AT SEA
This summer was a first for me in many ways. I was part of the handover of a Sanlorenzo SD118 in the Mediterranean Sea, and it also happened to be my first time cruising there. Joining my client and their family on this journey was a rare occasion, and I felt honoured to experience it alongside them. It was the perfect chance for the owner to try out the yacht in the Med before heading to Asia.
A lot went into getting everything ready. Finding good crew, sorting the itinerary, and making sure things ran smoothly took some serious planning. A handover is about more than the yacht—it’s about making sure the trip runs smoothly and meets the family’s needs. I couldn’t have done it without the support of the shipyard and the crew, whose expertise made everything possible.
Our time on the water was truly unforgettable. We sailed along Italy’s stunning coast, from Portofino and Portovenere to the island of Elba. Each stop had its own charm—colourful villages, hidden swimming spots, and views that made you pause and take it all in. The journey then continued to Capri and Positano, where the dramatic coastline looked straight out of a postcard. Seeing the family enjoy these moments together, knowing it was just the start of their adventure with the yacht, was the highlight for me.
The Mediterranean showed me why it’s so loved: crystal blue waters, endless sunshine, incredible seafood, and the simple joy of being on the water. Experiencing all this from the deck of the SD118 was unforgettable. It was the perfect introduction to cruising in the Med, and the start of a longer adventure as the yacht continues her journey to Asia.

A WEEKEND YACHT ESCAPE DISCOVERING JIAJING ISLAND
I recently took part in a trip to Jiajing Island, a tropical paradise island just off the coast of Wanning, Hainan. We boarded our vessel at Shimei Bay Yacht Club before enjoying a smooth half-hour cruise to the island.
One of the best aspects of Jiajing Island is its underwater wonderland. The clear waters are perfect for divers and are home to coral gardens teeming with colourful marine life. The island itself offers fascinating contrasts – rugged rock formations dominate its eastern side, while the western shore has a pristine white sand beach that magically shifts position with the changing seasons, earning the island its nickname of the “Spiritual Isle.”
Reflecting on my professional life, my decade-long journey in yacht sales has shown me that more people than ever before are embracing the yachting lifestyle. There’s genuine joy in helping clients find their perfect vessel and ensuring their experience exceeds expectations at every turn. At its heart, yachting represents more than just a mode of transportation: it’s a gateway to unforgettable experiences, a connection with the beauty of nature, and a lifestyle that celebrates freedom on the open water.
Each journey, like our adventure to Jiajing Island, creates lasting memories and deepens our appreciation of the marine world.
LIVING THE DREAM
TONY CHEN Country Manager, Taiwan
From my 15+ years in the yachting industry, I’ve had the privilege of being more than just a broker to my clients—I’m their trusted friend and sailing companion. Over the years, I have seen many owners realise their ambitions on the water, creating lasting memories with family and friends as they embrace the yachting lifestyle.
Since becoming an official Sanlorenzo subsidiary in the Asia-Pacific region, we have evolved from a dealership into the direct voice of the shipyard. This allows us to offer clients a seamless experience and ensures that every yacht continues to deliver the highest standards of performance and reliability.
I had a client who, after months of exploring different shipyards and weighing up every detail, ultimately chose Sanlorenzo. Although it represented a significant investment, for them, Sanlorenzo’s design,
innovation and customisation embodied their family’s aspirations. As they explained: “This is not just buying a yacht for us, it is a dream come true.”
Beyond the technical and professional aspects of yachting, it is the human connections and shared experiences that resonate most deeply with me. My own sailing companion, Toto the Border Collie, has accompanied me on many voyages and has become something of a familiar face at Taiwan’s marinas. He has been part of many of my best moments at sea.
For me, it is this feeling of warmth that captures the essence of Sanlorenzo. These yachts are not simply vessels but sanctuaries on the water, places where people reconnect, recharge, and create their most enduring memories.

LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD
Before writing this year’s story, I scrolled through nearly a decade of old photos on my phone. It’s amazing how social media now neatly organises our memories – no more digging through boxes and dusting off old albums to reminisce. I grew up in a transitional era; it wasn’t until after high school that I got my first smartphone, and since then, I’ve been capturing every beautiful moment.
These photos document my journey with the ocean: in the early years, I was passionate about surfing, wakeboarding, and diving – even swimming with whale sharks in the Philippines. Later, I became involved in sailing races and fishing. More recently, I have found joy in simply being at sea, watching the sunset in peaceful contentment. My experiences have changed with age, mindset, and circumstances, but the ocean remains just as breathtaking – boundless and free.
A milestone in 2024 was earning my first-class yacht captain’s license, deepening my connection to the sea. As for 2025, I aim to master snowboarding – I can’t wait to see my snowboard photos featured in Seabreeze magazine next year!

SAILING UNDER THE STARLIT SKY AT THE TAIWAN RYUKYU REGATTA
In the midst of our busy lives, finding the time to set sail is a precious luxury. This year’s Taiwan-Ryukyu Regatta was not just a race for the yacht owners – it was a journey to be remembered by all of us. We set off from Keelung in northern Taiwan, crossing 140 nautical miles to reach Ishigaki Island, Japan. Beyond the exhilarating competition, we had also arranged for a potential buyer to join us, allowing him to experience the charm of sailing.
At the break of dawn, the race officially began. With the sails tightened and the wind in our favour, every crew member held their breath in deep focus. The helm and ropes became the vital connections between us and the vast sea.
“Trim the sails! We’re sprinting toward the starting line!”
As night fell, the wind at 15 knots pushed the ship forward gracefully. The vast ocean was cloaked in darkness, with only a sky full of twinkling stars reflecting on the water. Standing on deck, the sea breeze brushed against our faces. The gentle rhythm of waves lapping against the hull whispered the story of the voyager.
At that moment, the yacht owner gazed at the endless night sky and softly said: “I’m really enjoying this moment – I don’t want to sleep.” The wind roared as the yacht sliced through the waves, surging toward the finish line. We battled shifting winds and course selection challenges, and in the end, we had a great result! In that victorious moment, the yacht owner and crew smiled at one another and high-fived, celebrating our achievement.
The owner who had joined us for this journey had experienced the thrill of racing and the freedom of sailing. Back on shore, he excitedly told us, “I’ve made up my mind – I’m going to buy my own yacht!” His eyes sparkled with anticipation, filled with dreams of future voyages.
This Taiwan-Ryukyu Regatta isn’t just a competition, it’s a tribute to the spirit of sailing. The tranquillity and magnificence of night sailing, the thrill and challenge of racing, the decisive moments and courageous choices – all intertwined to create an unforgettable memory. Sometimes, the meaning of life isn’t found in relentless busyness, but in whether we can pause and truly appreciate the present moment. When the starlit sky reflects upon the sea, when the ocean breeze brushes against your face, when the yacht glides effortlessly through the waves, at that moment, do you, too, feel the call to set sail and chase your own sailing dream?

Sanlorenzo SD132
SANLORENZO 74STEEL
SANLORENZO’S LARGEST YACHT EVER CRAFTED, WHERE STRENGTH BECOMES SERENITY.
The 74Steel is Sanlorenzo’s most ambitious flagship, challenging the idea that size equals excess. The steel and aluminium hull, powered by a dieselelectric system engineered with Siemens Energy, frees technical spaces to create an expansive beach club of nearly 290 m² at sea level, including gym, sauna, hammam, massage room, and plunge pool. The dedicated 300 m² owner’s deck offers exceptional privacy and sophistication. Designed by Zuccon International Project with refined interiors by Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini, the 74Steel embodies Sanlorenzo’s philosophy of elegance over excess, emphasising balance and restraint. With multiple hulls sold pre-launch and extensive customisation options, it is a landmark in steel yacht building.
TECHNICAL DATA
SANLORENZO 50STEEL
FIRST OF ITS KIND.
POWERED BY GREEN
METHANOL
This revolutionary superyacht sets new standards in sustainability and luxury. It features a modular ReformerFuel Cell system that transforms green methanol into hydrogen and then into electricity, powers hotel equipment and recharges batteries without storing hydrogen on board. This allows the 50Steel to cover around 90% of typical usage time with zero emissions. Additionally, the hidden engine room (HER) design optimises space and enhances the yacht’s sleek profile, combining cutting-edge green technology with the highest levels of comfort and luxury.
SANLORENZO SD132
A NEW FLAGSHIP FOR THE FUTURE
As the new flagship of the semi-displacement SD range, the SD132 is a yacht that feels both timeless and forward-thinking – a beautiful blend of classic proportions and modern innovation. At 40.8 metres, the SD132 offers generous volume while maintaining a sleek, balanced silhouette. Her graceful lines echo the romantic era of ocean liners, but her design is completely in step with today’s luxury lifestyle. One of the standout features is the owner’s suite, located forward on the main deck. It is a true private retreat, complete with panoramic views, exceptional space, and direct access to a private foredeck lounge. This unique layout allows for a rare sense of privacy and connection with the sea.
SANLORENZO SX120
INNOVATION TAKES THE HELM
With the SX120, Sanlorenzo once again proved its ability to push the boundaries of design while maintaining its unmistakable Italian style and elegance. With a strong, modern profile and large, open spaces, she feels less like a traditional yacht and more like a luxurious floating villa – one designed for long days at sea and relaxed, informal living. From the moment you step on board, you’re welcomed by light, air, and an uninterrupted connection to the water. The aft deck is a standout feature – vast and uncluttered, with fold-down terraces that expand the space to create a true sealevel beach club. This open platform flows seamlessly into the main salon through full-height glass doors, allowing guests to enjoy a single, fluid living space that blurs the line between inside and out.
SANLORENZO SL110
ASYMMETRIC
ASYMMETRY FURTHER REFINED
Sanlorenzo’s new SL110A is a bold yet elegant evolution of the shipyard’s acclaimed Asymmetric line. At first glance, the yacht’s asymmetrical design may seem subtle – but it unlocks an entirely new onboard experience. By shifting the side deck on one side and incorporating it into the interior, Sanlorenzo has created significantly more internal volume, wider sightlines, and a stronger sense of flow between spaces. The result is a yacht that feels open, balanced, and beautifully connected to the sea.
One of the most distinctive features of the SL110A is the expansive full-beam owner’s suite, which includes private access to a foredeck lounge and pool. It’s a peaceful retreat, completely separate from the guest areas – offering privacy without isolation.
SANLORENZO SL86 ASYMMETRIC
ENTRY TO THE WORLD OF ASYMMETRY
The SL86A represents a new evolution of the asymmetric concept, eliminating the portside passageway to maximise interior and exterior space. This design enhances usability, offering innovative and optimised living solutions. The unique concealed staircase at the stern and the absence of a staircase between the cockpit and the flybridge increase available
space, allowing the entire main deck to be dedicated to guests’ enjoyment. This results in a large open-plan layout, where a spacious stern area connects via a port-side passage to a unique forward dining area. This standout space is highlighted by large windows that connect the yacht with the sea from stern to bow.
SANLORENZO SP92
SPEED, STYLE, AND SUSTAINABILITY IN PERFECT HARMONY
The SP92 is a sporty performer with a green conscience. It features an expansive aft beach area of nearly 45 square metres, which is customisable with a retractable garage door. The main deck is closer to the water, enhancing the connection with the sea. The SP92 incorporates a unique hull geometry that optimises resistance at common speeds and a photovoltaic system with high-efficiency monocrystalline cells. These features, along with composite materials and aeronautical technologies, reduce its environmental impact and consume approximately 12-13% less fuel at cruising speed than conventional methods.
SWAN
128
OCEAN-GOING PROWESS, MAXI ELEGANCE
This next-generation flagship marries Germán Frers’ race-bred carbon hull with a semi-raised saloon silhouette, delivering thrilling polars while cocooning guests in a three-zone cockpit that flows from shaded lounge to sun terrace. SWAN 51
HERITAGE REBORN FOR MODERN SAILORS
Reviving the iconic 1980s Swan 51, Germán Frers shifts the mast aft and refines the hull lines to give today’s owners a sweeter helm and a broader performance envelope. Let skippers move from push-button ease to regatta-ready agility, while four interior palettes blend oak, walnut and soft textiles under sweeping hull windows. Offshore pedigree remains intact through a deep keel, robust structure and Category A certification, ensuring this 50-footer can cross oceans as confidently as she chases coastal sunsets.

LEAN, LIGHT, AND LIGHTNING-FAST
The ClubSwan 43 stands at the intersection of performance and comfort, offering a unique blend of racing prowess and cruising ease.
