LET ME TELL YOU A STORY: HOW TO TURN YOUR TRUE EXPERIENCE INTO A COMPELLING TALE WORKSHOP

This 90-minute group interactive workshop explores how storytelling enriches our personal and professional lives, provides an overview of how to craft a story, and offers some tools that help to mine your own life for the stories only you can tell. Using simple but impactful improv exercises that demonstrate the storytelling concepts teaches techniques that can be used to shift into a creative mindset. You will leave with guidelines for how to look at life through the storytelling lens, at least one idea of a story to develop, and an experience of the community-building currency of storytelling. LET ME TELL YOU A STORY: UNLOCKING THE POWER WITHIN THROUGH STORYTELLING SERIES

True personal stories have the power to inspire, inform, influence our sense of the world, and shine a light on what is possible. This 4-part series is an opportunity to learn how a compelling, well-told true story is developed out of true lived experiences. We will discuss story structure, the building blocks of stories that connect with a listener, and techniques that help to find and express our authentic voice. There will be opportunities to share drafts of the story as it comes together, cultivating creative confidence and building bonds between group members in a powerful and unique creative shared process. We will explore story-mining: using written and interactive exercises to look at ordinary life through a storytelling lens; the 5-beat story structure and why it is so effective; the power of sensory and emotional details; and how authenticity makes a storyteller magnetic. The price of the workshop will be deducted for attendees who register for the series. Details to follow.
