fter a night out with friends, Katie came home to her boyfriend Matthew; to her surprise, the living room was decorated with candles and rose petals! Her friends were in on the plan as if it were a surprise party, for when Matthew popped the question, and Katie said yes, a magnificent party began to evolve. Just like their engagement, Katie and Matthew’s June wedding was great fun from beginning to end. On June 18, 2016, The Breezy Bend Country Club was transformed into an elegant blush and ivory toned ballroom. The room was bursting with stunning flower arrangements, sophisticated decorations and plenty of friends and family. With a guest list of 170, the wedding was large yet intimate with a close family friend officiating the ceremony and family performing the first dance song. The day began with an incredibly fun photo shoot that, as promised by the photographer, was truly “the most fun you’ll have in a day.” “The weather was perfect and we had lots of fun during our amazing photo shoot!” Katie says as she remembers her special day. The fun continued well into the night with an everoccupied dance floor and a late-night snack featuring a poutine bar, hot dog station and candy buffet! Katie and Matthew enjoyed a honeymoon at a family cabin in Florence Lake, Manitoba – their favourite place in the world. shley and Jason met as teenagers while camping with their families one summer in St. Laurent. The two instantly hit it off when they were introduced by a mutual friend. “We spent the entire evening and late into the night talking to each other,” Ashley recalls of the night they met. But after their family vacations were over, Ashley didn’t hear from Jason for weeks. Fortunately, Jason went out of his way to get Ashley’s phone number from a friend, and the two have been together ever since! Years later, when the couple went on a date to see a ballet performance of Romeo and Juliet, Jason’s friends were busy secretly decorating the couple’s hotel room. Ashley arrived to a room adorned with rose petals, a slideshow of the couple’s fondest memories and tea lights laid out to spell “Marry me?” to which Ashley certainly said “Yes!” The August wedding began with an intimate ceremony at the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, attended with love by family and friends. The essence of the garden translated into the couple’s gorgeous reception at The Viscount Gort Hotel. The room was decorated with coral roses, dainty bouquets of baby’s breath, organic textures and tones of rose and gold. The sweet cake was topped with an even sweeter customized cake topper, which featured a silhouette of the happy couple. am and Kevin met in high school after being introduced by a mutual friend. The couple was inseparable and spent eight and a half years travelling the world together. When the two world travellers found themselves in Queensland, Australia, Kevin got down on one knee on the shore of Whitehaven Beach and proposed. Sam said “Yes!” and wedding plans immediately began to unfold. By the time the couple returned home to Canada, the wedding social was already booked. Sam considers herself an avid planner and had dreamed of her wedding ever since she was a young girl. The wedding theme was inspired by two epic love stories: The Great Gatsby and Cinderella. Perfectly reflecting Sam’s vision, the romantic colour palette consisted of white, black, gold and a soft pink floral accent in the beautiful bouquets, corsages and boutonnières designed by House of Silk. “I found a dream that I could speak to, a dream that I can call my own,” Sam recites this quote, explaining that her wedding went perfectly. The wedding took place July 16, 2016, marking the exact date of Sam and Kevin’s ten-year anniversary. The two tied the knot with an imperial ceremony at the breathtaking Convocation Hall at the University of Winnipeg. The glamorous reception at the Four Points by Sheraton South was truly fit for a princess. The room was cast in a violet glow and decorated with white roses. Gatsby-worthy gold-dusted leaves were incorporated throughout the décor, gracing both the bouquets and wedding cake. The enchanted soiree was everything Sam and Kevin hoped for. SEPTEMBER 3 & 4 2016 WINNIPEG acha and Sohan met at a wedding at which Sacha was a design coordinator with Events by Emma and Sohan was the DJ. Sacha and Sohan worked together on many Winnipeg weddings, often spending their entire weekends together; no wonder they fell in love! With great support from his family, Sohan proposed to Sacha. She said yes, and soon the wedding planning was in full swing! First, a trip to Punjab introduced Sacha and her parents to the brilliant culture, and served as a bonding experience for both families. “Our theme throughout the whole wedding was #fromParistoPunjab. We wanted all our guests to experience the French side and the Punjabi side,” Sacha shares. The wedding took place over one week and had multiple gorgeous venues. The Sangeet included a dinner party at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg. The Maiyan and Jago took place at Sohan’s residence in Winnipeg. The stunning wedding ceremony was held at the Sikh Society of Manitoba and was officiated by a Giani who translated parts of the ceremony to English for Sacha’s family. The reception at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg was magical. The night began as a Paristhemed cocktail party with Parisian wine and appetizers. Halfway through the night, a stewardess’s voice announced to the guests that is was time to depart to Punjab. Everyone travelled through a tunnel to a colourful room decorated with photos of India. The week-long party was filled with Bhangra, dancing, French pastries, laughter and love, thus perfectly uniting the two families. Photos: Banga Studios

arnjeet and Bunty met through mutual friends and instantly clicked. The two knew right away that they had something special and they were engaged after just ten months of dating! Two years later, they tied the knot in July 2016. Sarnjeet and Bunty planned a beautifully traditional Indian wedding, with each day of the event decorated in a different style. The décor was very important to the couple, and although they did not revolve around a certain colour or theme, they wanted the entire celebration to be meticulously and heavily decorated. The brightly coloured ceremony at the Gurudwara would be as decorated as the elegant, cool-toned reception at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. It was important to Sarnjeet and Bunty that every one of their 1,000 guests had tremendous fun. “A memory that really stands out for us is looking at the dance floor at 2:00 am and seeing it was still packed,” Sarnjeet shares, confirming that the wedding was great fun for everyone involved. The couple thanks their trusted wedding planner, Emma, for helping them to be so detail-oriented and organized. Although the wedding was large and energetic, the day went off without a hitch. Guests adored the gorgeous venues and noticed the attention to detail in the flowers, linens and ornaments. The day was everything Sarnjeet and Bunty hoped it would be.
