WELCOME TO THE LEADING EVENT for

GROCERY & CPG INNOVATORS Groceryshop launched in 2018 with a staggering 2,200+ attendees and immediately became the leading event for innovation in grocery and CPG. Feedback on the event was phenomenal with a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of over 50. Companies that attend Groceryshop include both established and startup CPG brands, supermarkets, c-stores, drug stores, discount stores, ecommerce players, warehouse clubs, grocerants and non-traditional grocery retailers. These organizations join tech companies, real estate operators, investors, media and analysts to understand the disruptive new trends, technologies and business models they must now embrace to win in a rapidly changing industry. Groceryshop brings together the industry’s community of leaders from across a wide range of job titles, including digital and ecommerce, marketing, technology, merchandising, supply chain and store operations. Groceryshop addresses shared challenges and opportunities relating to the evolution of how consumers shop for products ranging from food and beverage to health, beauty, personal care, household and pet supplies. Join the Groceryshop community to get critical insights to bring back to your teams by: Learning about and gaining exposure to the latest innovations and best practices through keynotes, breakout sessions and Techtalks, and Interacting and networking in the exhibit hall, at receptions and Peer Dinners, and during Hosted Program meetings and Tabletalks. Groceryshop will be held on September 15-18, 2019 at the Venetian, Las Vegas. Qualifying individuals from retailers and brands get free tickets and a $750 travel reimbursement by joining our Hosted Retailers & Brands Program, which facilitates eight mutually selected 15-minute meetings. Groceryshop was founded by the team that created the world’s largest retail conference, Shoptalk. — Anil, Simran, Zia, Caroline and the rest of the Groceryshop team

1:15pm - 1:55pm | Panel | Leveraging Product Content Brands have long struggled to maintain a consistent image across all their different retail partners and to ensure every partner has reliable, up-to-date product information. At the same time, consumers are demanding more information on the products they’re buying—from specifics on product sources to details on ingredients. The most forward-looking brands are using product information as a strategic differentiator, embracing new digital options to provide shoppers with detailed information and authentic feedback from other consumers. This session will feature three industry leaders who will discuss how they ensure that shoppers have access to compelling, accurate product information. • • • •

Brands increasingly seek to create direct relationships with shoppers while still maximizing sales through retail partners. At the same time, retailers are being presented with a variety of new product options from emerging brands—they’re also giving more shelf space to their own brands and allocating more of their marketing budget toward these private label products. In this session, brands and grocery retailers will discuss how their relationships are shifting in the digital era, what they need most from each other to succeed and what changes both can anticipate as the grocery and CPG landscape changes. • • • •

Workshop: The Future of the Industry 1.

8:45am - 9:45am | Panel | The Future of CBD-Based Products The legalization of hemp in December 2018 marked a turning point for the commercialization of cannabidiol (CBD), a nonpsychoactive compound derived from the cannabis plant that is becoming increasingly popular among consumers for its health benefits. Touted as the next multi-billion dollar ingredient for the CPG industry, branded manufacturers and grocery retailers are exploring the ways they could incorporate CBD oil into the products they create and carry on their shelves. This workshop will address the opportunities and challenges CBD products present the grocery and CPG industries, ranging from regulation and quality control to marketing and manufacturing. • • • • •

2.

Bethany Gomez | Managing Director, Brightfield Group Jeremiah McElwee | SVP Merchandising & Product Development, Thrive Market Anthony Saniger | Founder & CEO, Standard Dose Benjamin Witte | Founder & CEO, Recess Interviewer: Dave Donnan | Partner Emeritus, A.T. Kearney

9:50am - 10:50am | Panel | The Future of Food The United Nations predicts the world’s population will reach 9.7 billion by 2050. As a result, the ways in which food is produced, sold and consumed will look dramatically different than they do today. Indoor farms and plant-based meats promise to make food production more efficient and sustainable. New ingredients will be incorporated into products to promote biodiversity and satisfy changing consumer tastes, while enhanced versions of popular plants and vegetables will be created to offer added nutritional benefits. There will also be changes to how food is bought and consumed: for example, the availability of 3D food printers could enable a new wave of personalized meals and in-home purchasing. Join us for this interactive workshop to discuss how businesses are preparing for the future of food. • Marc Oshima | Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer, AeroFarms • Carle Stenmark | Partner, VMG Partners • Interviewer: Mike Lee | Founder & Co-CEO, The Future Market / Alpha Food Labs

3.

10:55am - 11:55am | Presentation | Deep Dive: The Biggest Takeaways from Groceryshop The previous three days included insights from almost 200 speakers on dozens of topics, from how products are sourced and produced to how they’re marketed and distributed. Sadly, it’s impossible to have attended every session or to have heard every speaker, so this interactive workshop will provide an overview of what you may have missed. It will provide a summary of the most critical insights from speakers and offer takeaways for brands and retailers looking to understand the disruption of grocery and CPG. The audience will also have an opportunity to share their biggest learnings from Groceryshop, as well as other topics they’d like to see addressed in the future. • Ken Cassar | VP, Research, Groceryshop • Krystina Gustafson | VP Content, Groceryshop • Joe Laszlo | VP Content, Groceryshop

Workshop: Marketing 1.

8:45am - 9:45am | Panel | Using Influencers Effectively Influencers enable marketers to connect with customers authentically by tapping into the personality and style of the influencer. But embracing influencers can be risky: hasty deals based on an influencer’s reach alone may not pay off in a world where audience loyalties can shift quickly and a single questionable action can reduce the appeal and impact of the influencer. This workshop will offer insights into how companies select, evaluate and partner with influencers today, as well as how they are measuring the outcomes of their influencer campaigns.

SESSION DESCRIPTIONS

9:50am - 10:50am | Panel | Reaching Gen Z Shoppers Consumers in every new generation seek brands that reflect their worldview and demand shopping experiences that cater to their unique needs. As the oldest members of Gen Z begin to enter the workforce and do their own grocery shopping, CPG companies and retailers alike are examining the characteristics of this generation. While some qualities that define Millennials, like diversity and a strong sensitivity to authenticity, are likely to characterize Gen Z as well, important differences around politics, economics and shopping behavior are also emerging. In this workshop, executives from three youth-oriented companies will discuss their understanding of this new generation of consumers, and how it will shape product and marketing decisions over the next few years. • Talia Halperin | VP, Brand Management, BuzzFeed • Manish Vora | Co-Founder & President, Museum of Ice Cream • Interviewer: Erinn Murphy | Managing Director & Sr. Research Analyst, Consumer, Piper Jaffray

3.

10:55am - 11:55am | Panel | Best Practices in Content Marketing Content marketing forms an increasingly essential part of retailer and brand digital strategies. Succeeding at content marketing requires more than simply creating compelling, interesting stories, however. Content marketing also requires that stories be told in formats that resonate with consumers, and published in places—including branded media, content aggregators and social platforms—that reach a desired audience. Retailers and brand marketers in this interactive workshop will share tactics they have developed in creating and executing content marketing campaigns that produce results. • • • •

Workshop: Digital Transformation 1.

8:45am - 9:45am | Presentation | Deep Dive: Organizing for Omnichannel Most traditional retailers and brands have embraced digital transformation initiatives—these initiatives range from adding ecommerce capabilities to digitizing supply chains and physical retail locations. Digital transformation also mandates reassessing organizational structures, processes and culture. In this session, a management consulting firm will present research on the key questions companies must ask themselves as they reorganize for omnichannel. The presentation will provide specific examples of how different types of businesses, from regional grocery chains to multibillion-dollar CPG companies, have successfully reorganized, and address the unique challenges facing each type of company. • Rob Wilson | Partner & Managing Director, L.E.K. Consulting • Noor Abdel-Samed | Managing Director, L.E.K. Consulting
