SHN Hospital Heroes

Page 1

“As President and Chief Executive Officer of Scarborough Health Network, I definitely have the best job in the world, managing the care of people. We are one of the largest community hospitals in Ontario, taking care of lots of people of all ages. Everyday we help sick people to get better and we deliver lots of babies too. The other great thing about my job is that I get to work with amazing people. We have hundreds of different jobs in our hospital but we are all part of the same team, working together to help our community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our team worked extra hard to keep our patients safe. Everyone on our team is a health care hero. That is why we made this book. So that you can see a few of the awesome people that work at Scarborough Health Network. One day, we would love for you to work here too.” Elizabeth Buller President and Chief Executive Officer

“As a Vice-President at Scarborough Health Network, I look after the needs of our staff who look after our patients. Our staff come from a variety of backgrounds. Some were born in Canada and others from countries around the world. Some of our staff speak English at work and a different language at home with their families. At our hospital, different religions, races and customs all come together as one team. We call this ‘diversity’. And when everyone feels like they belong, we call this ‘inclusion’, which is one of the things we value most at our hospital. In this book you will see diversity in our wonderful health care heroes. One day you can be a Scarborough health care hero too!” Michele James, Vice President, People and Transformation
