An Art Square and Public Space at Jaleb Chowk, Jaipur Design Dissertation (Sem - X)

Plot Area: 40,930 SQ.M. | BUILT-UP AREA: ~15,000 SQ.M.

The present condition of Jaleb Chowk is one that makes it seem like a utilitarian area ra-ther than a main public square. The area has slowly lost its charm over time and is discon-nected from its neighbouring heritage sites. The design should focus on re-establishing the place as a main public square while also adapting it to the present scenario. The adaptive reuse scheme is a mixed use project catering to both the tourist and locals. The objective would be to provide spaces for both the micro as well as macro-level interventions that gives a comprehensive solution to its revitalization.

Proposed Mall at Vashi, Navi Mumbai Architectural Design (Sem - IX)

Plot Area: 15,500 SQ.M. | BUILT-UP AREA: 65,000 SQ.M.

The plot consists of two individual rectangular sites that has a pleasant view of the Palm Beach Road. The main idea is to break the typical introverted planning of a mall into iterations that result in different circulation in an attempt to give the visitors a sense of openness in a conventionally indoor space.

Affordable Housing at ONGC Colony, Belapur

Architectural Design (Sem - VII)

Plot Area: 12,000 SQ.M. | NO. OF UNITS: 150 | BUILT-UP AREA: 11,730 SQ.M.

Understanding the need and concept of affordable housing to desige a more holistic living experience for the users at the existing ONGC Colony at Belapur was the main aim of the design studio. Creating a staggered arrangement of the built mass leads to various niches and edges provides many small pockets of open spaces for the people. With the homes staggered at the periphery, the central open space allows for a panoramic view of the site, giving a sense of visibility and coomunal living to the users.

Open Ideas National Competition, 2021 (Group Work)

The main aim of the design was to approach the site holistically and deliver different experiences for the residents while also not compromising on the idea of affordability. The new proposal consists of 288 units: 1 RK – 132 nos., 1 BHK – 144 nos., 2 BHK – 12 nos. in an interconnected Stilt + 4 structure.

The interior layout of the units are kept simple by using furniture as a means of partition to divide the common spaces like the living, dining and kitchen, helping in cutting down on the construction cost of interior walls. Along with minimizing the use of interior walls, the units are designed as an extension of the previous one, hence retaining similarities in the typology.

The units form a cluster of four having different typologies with a cantilevered staircase at the centre. This cluster of 4 units are connected by a common wall, resulting in the formation of a treecentered courtyard, creating a small micro-climate.
