These pillars guide us in creating an environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually, grounded in our Catholic values, fostering an independent mindset, and leveraging our extensive network of partnerships and resources.

We invite you to read the full strategic plan on the school website. There you will also find a Year One recap of our achievements and a glimpse into our Year Two plans.

We deeply value the insights and contributions of our Sacred Heart Greenwich community, which have been vital to the ongoing successful implementation of our strategic plan. Looking ahead, we remain committed to our mission of educating and empowering young women to lead lives of purpose and integrity. Together, we will continue to build on the legacy of Sacred Heart Greenwich, ensuring that our students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to make a positive impact on the world.

Advance our vision for educational excellence and commitment to leadership formation as defined and measured by the Goals and Criteria.

Engage with community members and the wider world to cultivate meaningful relationships and powerful contexts for learning, service, and leadership.

Invest in talent and programmatic and physical assets to ensure strong alignment of resources to our vision and mission for students.

Follow our progress on our strategic plan here.

Letter from Our President & Board Chair

Dear Sacred Heart Greenwich Community,

As we reflect on the year following our 175th anniversary, we are inspired by the bright future ahead. This milestone was not just a mark of time but a testament to the unwavering dedication and passion of our entire community. Our work in 2023–2024 was guided by the three key pillars of our strategic plan, Pursuing Excellence: Advance, Engage, and Invest. These pillars have not only directed our efforts but also ignited a renewed sense of purpose, ensuring that our students thrive in an environment of academic, social, and spiritual growth. Here are a few examples:

Advance

› Advanced educational excellence and leadership: Initiated a departmental review process to ensure all educators are trained in and utilize best practices in science-based pedagogical techniques of differential instruction within each classroom.

› Supported faculty development: Provided training in Universal Design for Learning and Orton-Gillingham Science of Reading Instruction to support student success.

› Implemented curriculum enhancements: Expanded Upper School electives, particularly in STEM, to include on-campus study of advanced courses such as AP Environmental Science, Economics, and post-AP studies in Linear Algebra.

› Expanded Arts curriculum: Launched a Club Dance program that will be offered as a class for the 2024–2025 academic year.

Engage

› Grew community engagement: Partnered with alumnae, families, and external organizations, such as The Wild Mustang Conservation, IBM Watson Research Center, and the Regeneron DNA Learning Center, providing students with learning, service, and leadership opportunities.

› Expanded externship program: Created a learning ecosystem with alumnae, families, and friends, providing students with realworld experience, training, and networking. More than 70 students were matched with externship hosts in finance, law, medicine, media, engineering, education, and interior design.

› Promoted social media empowerment: Launched the Social Institute program as part of the 7th–12th grade Advisory, resulting in increased resilience and a stronger school culture.

Invest

› Strategic resource allocation: Advanced our mission by developing campus facilities, expanding student programming to meet the demand for athletic participation, and creating more educator positions to support student life and student success.

› Distributive leadership model: Built collaborative, cohesive administrative and strategic teams to drive priority work and excellence in the student experience. In the new model, President Michael F. Baber partners with Associate Head of School for Student Life Jenn Bensen and Associate Head of School for Teaching and Learning Kevin Bailey. These efforts are enhanced by the redefined, cross-divisional roles of department chairs and instructional leaders.

› Campus enhancements through philanthropic community support: Enhanced students’ educational and athletic experiences:

∙ Completed the Newman Family Green, providing student-athletes opportunities to improve golf putting and short-game strategies.

∙ Construction of nine new tennis courts (Fall 2024).

∙ Construction of a new Lower Campus outdoor classroom to allow students to engage in immersive learning to enliven our all-school biology and ecology curricula (Spring 2025).

These initiatives would not have been possible without the generous philanthropic support and exuberance of our community. Thank you to everyone who partnered with Sacred Heart Greenwich by serving as a school leader, volunteer, mentor, ambassador, donor, and engaged community member! By raising over $2.3 million for the Fund for Sacred Heart and over $3 million in total for our beloved school, you enabled transformative student and community experiences. We remain committed to our mission of educating and empowering young women to lead lives of purpose and integrity.

We wish you and your family all the best for a joyful and prosperous year ahead and are blessed by your active engagement in supporting our students as we boldly pursue excellence.

With gratitude,

’25 Chair, Board of Trustees

“ We are proud to be part of the Sacred Heart Greenwich community. For our family, giving to the Fund for Sacred Heart is a high priority. As the son, brother, cousin, and uncle of countless alumnae and the father of a current student, I, along with my wife, see firsthand the value of a Sacred Heart Greenwich education. Now more than ever, the world needs the kind of women produced by this incredible school. We are confident Sacred Heart Greenwich is giving our daughter the tools to become a strong, caring, and responsible individual who will go out into the world rooted in her faith. There’s no better place to nurture all of our daughters’ talents and to create the lasting bonds of friendship and community. Go Heart!”

—Kevin McCooey P’28, Trustee

2024 Senior Class Gift

Celebrating their daughters’ journeys, parents of seniors proudly followed the strong tradition of serving as philanthropic leaders to our community. Over the decades, senior class families have been instrumental in significantly strengthening our endowment, and we are grateful to the Class of 2024 families for upholding this tradition.

We are so grateful to these families who united to achieve a Senior Class Gift of over $426,000, supporting the Fund for Sacred Heart, endowment, and restricted gifts.

“ The Senior Class Gift is a lovely opportunity for us to celebrate our daughter’s journey at Sacred Heart Greenwich for the last 13 years. This impressive generosity has a transformative impact on continuing to educate the next generation of Sacred Heart girls, helping them become strong, spiritual, and confident women. We could not have asked for a better place to educate our daughter and allow her to find her own voice in a welcoming sisterhood. “In our first year at Sacred Heart Greenwich, we were thrilled to get to know the community, connect with teachers and administrators, attend events, and give to the Fund for Sacred Heart. Our daughter enjoyed a strong connection to her teachers and learned from positive opportunities including Mustard Seeds, music, theater, art, theology, and summer enrichment. We choose to invest in our daughter's education above the cost of tuition, as we believe giving annually is crucial to the school's pursuit of excellence by creating new initiatives, providing professional development, improving facilities, and building community.”

Corporations & Foundations

Thank you to the corporations and foundations that provided donors with the means to increase their gifts to Sacred Heart Greenwich. We also appreciate the individuals who secured matching gift opportunities.

Expanded Externship Program

Thanks to strong partnerships with alumnae, families, and friends, 93 Upper School students over the past two years have participated in the Sacred Heart Greenwich Externship Program, a robust learning ecosystem providing real-world experiences and networking.

In preparation for their externships, students received training in the application process, résumé writing, and workplace etiquette. We are truly grateful to the engaged externship hosts who shared their expertise, providing new insights for students in fields such as medicine, finance, engineering, media, communications, law, education, and interior design. Interested in hosting an extern in summer 2025? Contact externship@cshct.org.

“Hosting exceeded my expectations. The students were very inquisitive, outgoing, and engaged, as well as extremely kind and appreciative of all of the preparation.”

“I realized interior design is nothing like the stereotypes. It is not simply a lavish job of shopping and decorating peoplesʼ houses. Interior design is about listening to your clients while still not losing yourself in the design. It’s about collaborating with other people in the industry, working hard, and not giving up until you have created the perfect place for your client and making them love it just as much as you do.”

— Externship student

“In social studies, I like learning about all the 50 states of the United States, the people, mountains, and rivers.” — Bridget ’33

“I learned about private wealth management in the categories of trading, distributing, and transferring and organizing money through bonds, stocks, and several other forms.”

Gifts to the Endowment

We are humbled by the many dedicated donors who committed to our endowment this year, demonstrating their belief in our mission and vision for the future by leaving their legacy at Sacred Heart Greenwich. The endowment value, as of June 30, 2024, was $45.6 million. Gifts made to endowed funds during the 2023–2024 fiscal year are recognized below each named fund.

Lower Campus capital improvements enhance students’ educational and athletic experiences

Thanks to generous support from our community, the Lower Campus capital improvements will deliver state-of-the-art facilities for our students, including a new outdoor classroom, a new golf putting and chipping green, and a cuttingedge nine-court tennis facility. These additions will cultivate a dynamic learning atmosphere, stimulating creativity and fostering a deeper connection with nature. Aligned with the feedback from our Pursuing Excellence working groups, these initiatives represent a significant step forward in our commitment to holistic student development.

“I am so grateful for the genuine care of our teachers, as their example has shown me how to live with grace, responsibility, and respect. My life at Sacred Heart Greenwich has shaped me as an individual and a student, so I am so grateful to the values of faith, intellect, service, community, and wise freedom which have always impelled me to put my best foot forward. These values will always remain essential to who I am and will continue to guide my footsteps in the coming years as I keep learning how to flourish as an individual, student, and friend.”

—Avery ’24

“My experiences at Sacred Heart Greenwich have greatly impacted my faith, starting at the young age of five when I began learning about God and Christianity. My mind has been opened to more philosophical thought. This has strengthened my faith as a Christian and helped me grow a better relationship with God.”
