In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming and stressful, it's easy to forget the simple power of a smile. Yet, the act of smiling holds tremendous importance in our lives. It not only brightens our own day but also has the incredible ability to uplift those around us. It’s a true win-win.
A smile is like a ray of sunshine, spreading warmth, positivity, and kindness wherever it goes. While it's challenging to provide an exact number, several studies suggest that the average adult smiles anywhere from 20 to 50 times per day. Seems in alignment with the saying, ‘the more the merrier!’.
SMILEMORE-BECAUSEHAPPINESSFOLLOWS!
Let's take a moment to recognize the significance of smiling more and the profound impact it can have on our well-being and the world around us. I want to share some important reasons to smile more and what the impact of smiling more has on your well-being.

HEREARE10 REASONSINFACT
INSTANT HAPPINESS BOOST:
Smiling releases endorphins, those delightful little chemicals that make you feel like you ' re floating on a cloud. It's like getting a free happiness injection without any scary needles! So, whenever you ' re feeling a bit down, just curve those lips upward, and let the magic happen Who needs a clown when you can be your own source of amusement? Use the mirror each morning and flash a big grin at the amazing human you see!
STRESS-BUSTING SUPERPOWER:
Ah, stress, the unwelcome guest that likes to crash the party of life. But fear not, for your secret weapon is none other than a smile! Studies show that smiling can help lower your stress levels by reducing the stress hormone cortisol. So, the next time your boss hands you a mountain of work, just flash a smile and say, "Challenge accepted!" Choose how you respond instead of reacting. Choose a smile and keep moving!
IMMUNE SYSTEM HERO:
Believe it or not, your smile is like a superhero cape for your immune system When you smile, it sends positive vibes to
your body, boosting your immune system's ability to fight off those nasty germs. It's like having a little army of happy warriors ready to fend off any invaders. Who needs a flu shot when you have a megawatt smile? Just remember to brush your teeth regularly too, because superheroes need good oral hygiene! Be good to your body and SMILE!

SOCIAL MAGNETISM:
Have you ever noticed how people are drawn to someone with a genuine smile? Your smile is like a magnetic force that attracts others to you. It's the secret sauce of social interactions So, put on your best smile, and watch as people gravitate towards you like moths to a flame (in a good way, of course) Who knows, your smile might even win you a new friend or earn you a raise! Load up on the secret sauce.
WRINKLE-BE-GONE:
Forget about expensive creams and serums promising eternal youth. Smiling naturally lifts and tones your facial muscles, helping you keep those pesky wrinkles at bay. Embrace your laughter lines, because they're not just signs of aging, but also a sign of a life well-lived! Who needs a poker face when you can have a smiley face that tells a thousand joyful stories?
PAIN RELIEF WIZARDRY:
Here's a little trick for you – smiling can help you bear physical pain better. When you smile, your brain releases endorphins, which act as natural painkillers So, the next time you stub your toe or bang your funny bone, channel your inner Cheshire Cat and grin through the tears You'll be amazed at how it takes the edge off the pain. Who knew that a smile could be the best pain reliever ever!
MOOD ELEVATOR:
Smiling is like a magic potion that not only boosts your own mood but also has a positive impact on the people around you It's contagious! When you smile, others can't help but smile back It's like a ripple effect of happiness spreading through the room. So, spread those good vibes like confetti and watch as the world becomes a happier place, one smile at a time. You never know whose day you
might brighten with just a simple grin. Feeling down, catch a comedian’s special or take in a funny movie. One of my mentors @DanelleDelgado taught me to create a funnies folder. Create a folder that you store funny memes, jokes, and videos in that make you laugh etc, and to spend 2 minutes per day smiling nonstop It’s an incredible practice to put in place to improve your mood and feel happier!

So, by flashing that pearly white smile, you ' re not only charming those around you but also giving yourself the gift of a healthy heart.
STRESS-FREE WORKOUT:
Did you know that smiling is a mini workout for your face? It takes more muscles to frown than to smile, so why waste your energy on a frown when you can effortlessly burn calories with a grin? Let’s burn some calories, shall we?
LONGEVITY SECRET:
It's no joke! Several studies have found a link between regular smiling and increased lifespan. So, keep smiling and give yourself the gift of more happy, healthy years on this beautiful planet. Smiles are a bit like a joy bomb.

Bea and I were incoming freshmen in the Spring of 1976 at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. We both checked in on Saturday and were the only 2 in the dormitory. Still trying to figure out life together today but as seasoned citizens

Sherri: You have both had great success in your lives. With the onset of the pandemic, your lives changed dramatically. Can you share how Pinch-Dash-Done came to fruition?
Bea:
Our beginning is certainly the embodiment of the medieval French Proverb dating to 1485-1490, "Hunger makes people resourceful." During the pandemic, dining options were extremely limited, and cooking meals was essential for survival. Also, I had time to master planning my garden and use fresh herbs and vegetables in my meals. In writing Pinch-Dash-Done, we were intentional about promoting small space gardens and the use of fresh herbs and vegetables as a result of what we had experienced.
Vernita:
Pinch-Dash-Done was started in April 2020 on Facebook as a concept to provide positive content in a panicked world. We were trading recipes while on lockdown and I wanted some ideas to change up my meals Of course, Bea responded because that is her wheelhouse; cooking. After going back and forth with ideas, I said “Let's write a cookbook” Many people were asking for the recipes and by May 20, 2020, a new business was formed and documented Six months later, the first cookbook hit the market.
Pinch-Dash-Done is evolving into a multidimensional platform. You have two cookbooks available now. You can order them right here: www.pinch-dash-done.com.
Sherri: You have been transforming how we think about the dinner table. Aside from your recurring column in this magazine, you are also currently shooting a new show and doing live cooking demonstrations people can tune into. Can you share a bit about both of those endeavors?
Bea:
Our cooking show is titled “Pinch-Dash-Done, Cooking with Friends” and can be found on the Everyday Woman TV network by following this link: Pinch-DashDone, Cooking with Friends by Vernita Harris & Beatrice Moore - Everyday Woman TV Network Our goal is to interview and cook with friends who have amazing life stories that will inspire the viewer while providing stepby-step instructions of some delicious recipes We are dedicated to bringing family and fellowship back to the forefront and what better vehicle to use than food?
Vernita:
We are currently in our third season with AARP Texas and the show has now gone national It is a live cooking show, Cooking with B & V, Brunch, Lunch, and Munch The show is live on the third Tuesday of the month via Zoom. This allows the audience an opportunity to ask questions We do expect to expand on the programming soon.
Sherri: In more exciting news, Bea you are currently in a contest for The Taste of Home Magazine. Can you share a little about this contest and why it’s important to you? You have made it clear you have a strong desire to use the potential prize winnings for something very specific. Can you share a little about the contest?
WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 13 13 13 JUNE 2023 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
Bea:
Yes! I am super excited about this contest, “America's Favorite Chef,” sponsored by Taste of Home magazine and Chef Carla Hall. I have several goals with the prize money. First, complete and publish a kid’s cookbook Secondly, I plan to work with schools/community centers to offer free cooking classes to young adults using recipes from the book The cookbooks will be made available to participants during the cooking classes. Third, I want to get the books into school libraries and curricula I’m developing a comprehensive cooking curriculum highlighting mathematics in the kitchen to develop young scholars' love and appreciation of mathematics in action! Additionally, setting the table, food safety, kitchen safety, and gardening will also be integrated into the program
How can the readers support you in this endeavor? I need your vote. Go to Beatrice Luchin | Favorite Chef presented by Carla Hall (favchef.com) to cast a daily ballot. I have made it through the first round and am currently in 1st place in round 2
Bea:
Meal prep is all about panning In the last issue of WOW Warrior, our food column focused on this and has some great tips I urge readers to go back and read that column Also, plan meals that are flexible enough for using leftovers in fun ways. For example, leftover meatloaf or turkey make great sandwiches Meatloaf can also be reconstituted into spaghetti sauce and frozen for later use Also, think about cooking multiple entrees at once. You can prepare baked chicken, baked fish, baked pork chops, burger patties, etc simultaneously in the oven in separate pans Once cooled, transfer to storage bags and freeze
Vernita:
I am known as the reluctant cook I want my meals, fast and flavorful I love trying new seasonings and grilling Grilled chicken breasts are utilized for salads, quesadillas, and chicken salad. This is a fast and efficient way to prepare food.
Share your top 3 shortcuts in the kitchen with our readers:
Bea:
Number 1-Salads because they are a phenomenal way to present a well-balanced meal Think of Chef’s Salads that use leftover meats or use deli meats. The combinations are endless and easily customized so everyone is happy.
Number 2-Casseroles/Soups because leftover meats and veggies can be incorporated into them Think of chicken pot pies You get the picture.
Number 3- I buy my meats and immediately season them. Then freeze When ready to use, I simply pop them into the pan and cook The greatest benefit is that the seasoning now has time to penetrate the bone. Yummy!
Vernita:
I like grilling as I just stated (outdoor or countertop grill). It works well on vegetables, fruits, and meats Freezing my fruits for smoothies and not using any ice helps with my daily fruit and vegetable intake. Gadgets are tools that help but also entertain me. I love to get results that make my job easier in the kitchen by using my favorite gadgets
WOW WARRIOR magazine is incredibly honored to have both of you spectacularly talented women as part of our magazine! We are so proud to be partnered with you both and we look forward to cheering you on with each new exciting development!
Could you each share some pearls of wisdom for our readers who think of mealtime prep and groan? Do you have a favorite way to use and prepare leftovers?

Order up! Breaking the Fast with Breakfast in Bed
WARRIOR W W Columnist
What nicer thing can you do for somebody than make them breakfast?
Anthony Bourdain
by Beatrice Moore and Vernita Harris
The word "breakfast" comes from the Old English word "brecanfast", which means "breaking the fast" of the night. The word breakfast first appeared in print in the early 15th century. It was used to describe the first meal of the day, which was typically eaten around 9 or 10 in the morning. In today’s world, sitting down for breakfast is a novelty for those who are on the go around the clock whose first meal may not be eaten until mid afternoon. But sometimes you do have to stop and drop everything and take time out for the simple pleasures of life and that includes breakfast. Creating a breakfast in bed experience for your loved ones is considered to be one of the ultimate expressions of love, appreciation and pampering. But it doesn’t have to be difficult or extremely time consuming. Remember, it is the thought that counts!

WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 19 19 Have I D O N E ? ? OH NO!! by: Becky Mosbrucker What JUNE 2023 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
You know we spend a lot of time at the end of each day saying things like “I didn’t get anything done today” or “I only got one thing done on my long list of things” today But you know what? Sometimes that can be a good thing. The feeling of “not” getting THAT ONE THING done that was on your list may feel overwhelming, even crippling, but you don’t have to let that fear get you down.
I’ve had times in my life where I thought “I should do this thing” or “I should do that thing” –make sure to cross something off of my long “TO DO” list. Then when those things didn’t get done and I felt like a procrastinator/failure. I was disappointed – in myself, my circumstances.
I’ve started looking at the bigger picture – all of the accomplishments I’ve had thus far in life. Graduated from high school, got a college degree, got married, had children, had many good jobs, got promoted several times, was able to buy a new car, was able to start a business, made fantastic friends – there are SO many good things that have happened to me that outweigh that “ one thing” I didn’t get done on my list by far!
COVID taught me to be thankful for a lot of things - the things I did have and the things I did not have (like that sickness). It forced me to change my mindset, also It helped me to be more grateful for the things I did have
JUNE 2023 WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 20 20 20 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
It also forced me to change the way I looked at my business. I had just started my business a year earlier, and it was all in-person I needed to change the way I taught, figure out how to share the information inside of me (like so many other people).
What COVID taught me to do were the following things, which were NOT on my list, some of which were not even a thought in my head:
Started blogging (which has helped me find a passion for writing and ultimately helped me get published in 3 books).
That first book introduced me to the owner of this wonderful organization - Sherri Leopold and Women of Worth. Now I get the chance to write for this company and even have a TV Interview!
Started my own YouTube Channel (I thought this was only for high-profile, rich people).
Started my own social media outlets for my business: Instagram, Tik-Tok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter
Started teaching on-line via Zoom
Made friendships from around the world that never would have happened otherwise
My point is this – lists are good and I like them because I’m a planner, but sometimes you have to try to do something that is NOT on your list! Start with something small. It doesn’t have to be something so daunting as starting a new business It can be something as small as getting in touch with a relative, rekindling a connection with a friend, enjoying some “down” time with family
Something else that was not on my “To Do” list was to start an online community, but I did! I never really realized how we as humans want to be
JUNE 2023 WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 21 21 21 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
connected with each other. I mean, I love connecting with people. I’m an extrovert I love people and finding out what they do and why they chose that profession/business So, for me, connecting was important – even if I had to do it over Zoom!
I am so glad that we can now connect in person again! Whew! That was a long time of not getting together face to face.
But now that I’ve made friends all over the globe, I wasn’t going to just let them
go by the wayside I had to figure out how to still connect with them. So, I decided to create the “Stronger Together Tribe”. Since I am all about connections, this just seemed like a very fitting title
In this group, we will discuss real life issues – the good, the bad and the ugly. It is a community where we can share our ups, downs and all of the in-between. Share words of encouragement/wisd om, insight, sympathy
My community is for women, by women We will have live events, monthly meet-ups (in-person and online), group coaching, topical discussions, seminars, retreats, guest speakers – all the things that keep us connected
Some people may not be able to meet in person due to location, but that’s ok – I will always keep an online option available.
JUNE 2023 WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 22 22 22 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
Joining a community may not be on your “To Do” list, but I know this is probably something you are looking for because we are all looking for positive connections in our lives.
I need YOU in my community regardless of where you live. I’d love to have you share YOUR experiences, YOUR wisdom, YOUR words of encouragement with other women We are here to share our lives, lift each other up and to grow with like-minded women.
I know this is something you SHOULD put on your “To Do” list and make it priority number 1 – for yourself! Click the link below to get more information. When you sign up, you will receive my FREE Mindset Journal Getting your mindset right is huge, so let’s get you started NOW!

Time and time again, I help people after the fact with their bad situation as a result of not taking heed to the supplied advice. It is always be my intention to provide proactive steps to keep everyone protected.
In these four articles I will dive deeper into several of the above topics to help understand the importance of them and what they do for you. Lets start with the biggest and most important step in securing yourself and that is having a strong password and two-factor authentication
WHAT MAKES A STRONG PASSWORD?
A STRONG PASSWORD IS ONE THAT IS DIFFICULT FOR OTHERS TO GUESS OR CRACK. HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR CREATING STRONG PASSWORDS:
01
USE A COMBINATION OF LETTERS, NUMBERS, AND SOME SPECIAL CHARACTERS
USE AT LEAST 8 CHARACTERS, BUT THE LONGER THE BETTER I RECOMMEND AT LEAST 12 CHARACTERS
AVOID USING PERSONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS YOUR NAME, BIRTHDATE, OR ADDRESS
AVOID USING COMMON WORDS OR PHRASES. USE A PASSWORD MANAGER TO GENERATE AND STORE STRONG, UNIQUE PASSWORDS FOR ALL OF YOUR ACCOUNTS
By following these guidelines, you can create strong passwords that are more secure and less likely to be compromised It is also important to use different passwords for different accounts and to update your passwords regularly
Don’t forget to enable two-factor authentication whenever possible.
Another point to consider is to NOT save your passwords in your computer or browser. As any hacker can access them and then you are going to have many more issues.

Here is real story for you. I client of mine contacted me in a panic, that she had been hacked and lost several thousand dollars. Luckily, soon after this happened the bank was able to recover it as the hacker was smart enough to hack her computer but not smart enough to get away with the theft.
As a result, we went to work on protecting her home and office from any future hackers. She accepted all my suggestions on what things to do to protect her and her family. She had thought that the antivirus program was all she needed, and how she knows better. The more steps you take the safer you will be As these articles progress, I will give more detailed information to get you on your way to being cyber secure.
The difference between importing vs downloads are very similar. Importing is to bring them into a program like Outlook or Windows Live or Thunderbird etc. Downloading is to save them from where there are into your computer for future reference.
The issue with importing your Emails is, that once you open it, to look at the content, you are informing the computer that you accept its content. Therefore, if there is a hidden virus or other bad code, your anti-virus program may not catch the infection fast enough.
On the other hand, if you use a web browser to view the content in WebMail then the anti-virus program is already scanning that browser program and you are more likely to open the infection on the provider’s server and not your computer. So, you have a kind of double protection that way.

WHAT IS YOUR
“X-FACTOR”?
WRITTEN BY DR. TYLISHA JOHNSON
JUNE 2023

JUNE 2023 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
Over the years, I have personally talked to well over
150
entrepreneurs and small business owners
I always ask them the following two questions:
“What sets your business apart from your competitor?”
“What makes your company unique?”
JUNE 2023 WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 32 32 32 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
IN OTHER WORDS
“ W h a t i s y o u r
“ X - F a c t o r ? ”
Most of the time the response starts with a clearing of the throat, a deerin-headlights stare, or a bit of fidgeting and “ um uh,” all to get to a standard response of “Well, we have outstanding customer service.”. While great customer service is important, you must be aware that customer service can be easily duplicated. When Starbucks and ChickFil-A started asking for customers’ names instead of calling a number, that started an amazing trend in the restaurant industry It quickly went from customers truly feeling special when their name is called to a standard expectation and norm because almost all restaurant establishments do it.
Case in point, your “XFactor” must be more than outstanding customer service, which can be easily duplicated It’s okay to often be imitated, but the real goal is to never be duplicated. It is your DIFFERENCE that makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE!
JUNE 2023 WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 33 33 33 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
You must be allergic to average and basic Instead and be ready to soar into the unknown possibilities freedom to not just be on the cutting edge, but “be the edge!”
You might be thinking, “Well, I don’t know where to start with setting my company apart in my industry.” Remember, you should always analyze before you strategize You want to start by performing an analysis of your top three competitors (two local and one online, if applicable).
To identify what makes you different, you must know what your competitor is doing
Research the following in your competitor analysis:
Types of products/services they offer.
Any special services. Programs or hours.
And years of experience/credentials.
The goal is to find the gap you fill, the ways you are different, and the ultimate reason why the customer would choose your company over the competition, which is (your competitive advantage)
Ultimately, for your company to be DIFFERENT, you must decide to be DIFFERENT! You are THEE first “XFactor” in your company! There is no one like you! Everyone is as unique as their DNA and that is POWERFUL! No one has the combination of your mindset, personality, values, beliefs, gifts, talents, experiences, culture, education, or expertise, like you! You have to say no to the “What if” syndrome, no to the “This is how I’ve always done it,”, and no to the “Comfort Zone” and decide to tap into the power of being unapologetically bold, courageous, and DIFFERENT!

Once you have performed the analysis, you now need a strategy My definition of the word “strategy” is an ingenious and innovative systematic plan of envisioning and successfully attaining your desired outcomes and future with laser-focused, explosive execution. This is where you must think critically and creatively to brainstorm revolutionary and disruptive ideas; break all the boxes! I want you to “Soar Beyond the Limits” of fear, doubt, lack, past mistakes, past failures, faulty belief systems, etc Although you have had to overcome these mindsets or perceived limitations in the past just to get your business started, I want to activate, inspire, and motivate you to go to the next dimension in your business! It is time to soar to even higher heights! You have what it takes! You got this!
There are many ways you can create your “X-factor”, but I will only give you two in this article
You can create your “X-factor” by explosively executing in one or both categories:
Product or
service differentiation
and Diversifying the delivery/execution/combinations of your product or service
In your approach to this brainstorming session, I want you to take two sheets of blank copy paper and draw a circle in the middle of each one and write the category in the circle.
Remember, your goal is to think freely and fluidly, so just allow the ideas to flow, there is nothing too big or too small, withhold all inhibitions and judgments, and just write what comes to mind
Choose your top three ideas from each category and now it is time to analyze the ideas. You will now need to assess these six ideas for feasibility and viability and narrow them down to one that you will focus on. Next, perform a cost-benefit analysis and break-even analysis and if the calculations are promising, then it is time to devise a tactical plan to execute.
I am sure you have heard the quote by Benjamin Franklin, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” It is important to create a tactical plan that will be used as a guide to help you stay laser-focused for explosive execution Tactics are defined as an action or strategy carefully planned to achieve a specific goal. Your tactical plan must include the following components:
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Your goals must be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound ("There's a S M A R T Way to Write Management's Goals and Objectives,", Doran, 1981). Your objectives describe what you must do to reach the goal
ACTION STEPS
Each objective must have an action assigned to it. This must be a detailed process and description
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
How you will measure and evaluate progress toward achieving the objectives to ultimately accomplish your goal.
JUNE 2023 WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 35 35 35 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
IDENTIFY RESOURCES NEEDED
What are the resources needed to accomplish the overall goal within the timeframe identified (human resources, financial resources, informational resources (data/research)?
Most importantly, ensure that you have the fortitude, which is courage in the face of adversity and the flexibility to adapt to possible changes and challenges along the way.

THE Awakening
by Gail Kraft
Have you been hearing lately that it is the time of the “awakening?” Maybe you ’ ve hear “The Age of Aquarius” or “The Ascending.”
No matter what you ’ ve heard, something is changing.
JUNE 2023 WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 37 37 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
For me, discussing awakening really is about encouraging you to remember to remember who you are. An exercise of self-empowerment and knowing Your awakening is the time for you to remove the blindfold that kept you unaware of what is possible
In this day of pulling back the Woo curtain, I no longer talk about healing wounds and facing triggers It really is more about acknowledging this thing happened and now I am here, in this place and time, and I can create a different story for myself while learning any lesson I may want from that past event Times are changing quickly, old beliefs are proving to be false, and people are asking more questions around why and why not.
WHY THIS AND WHY NOW?
With information so readily available, social boundaries and physical boundaries are not such an obstacle, and with the opportunity to step back in 2020 and reflect, people are looking inward More and more people are releasing their baggage, rewriting their stories, and becoming curious about investigating their own truth
Becoming connected with my inner voice, the quiet whisper that has had my back my whole life, has been a journey I fought against for many years
Lean into “be here now ” and understand that your emotion is valid, it is telling you to pay attention to something. However, the energy of emotion lasts UP TO 90-seconds Anything after that is you re-playing a story in your mind and spending your energy missing this moment.
So, are you ready to begin the journey into enlightenment?

FILLING SPACE:
Here is a step I have focused on with my clients for years. Once we release fear, sadness, anger, shame, guilt, or whatever story they are hanging on to, we have created space to manifest a new life. I call it embracing the experiment we call life. Try it, give yourself permission to fail, and try again or something new.
GET CURIOUS:
This awakening begins with you questioning everything you once knew to be true When you work with me, you learn how to step back and become the observer and create a clearer picture of what aligns with you and what does not. You start to walk away from habits, beliefs, and sometimes relationships and welcome in new experiences that are more meaningful, more delicious for you
THE DARK SIDE:
One of the fears that hold many back is the fear of facing themselves. You see, excavation means you dig in the dirt and sometimes breathe in the dust. The thing is the darkness you are avoiding is also a story of judgment, guilt, and shame that you create
These emotions cause stress on your mind, body, and soul. It takes so much energy to hang on Why not use some of that to release the story and discover how you can use that energy for your future?
KNOWING:
As you experiment, release more stories, and look into your soul you begin to honor your connection to the Universe. You find that you often just know, at a deep, quiet, and personal level. You are becoming a skilled player in life and are learning to trust yourself.
MINDFUL SOUL:
Through the practices that you experiment with, you discover what works best for you. One day you realize that you have been growing on a Soul level and more like-minded people become the norm for you You feel, hear, and see beyond the physical.

LET GO AND BE FREE:
I see releasing as being nailed to the cross and letting life flow. It’s releasing ego that keeps you from truth. Let’s be clear, you keep your ego and allow that part of you to do its actual job, an early warning system of real danger. This is the time for searching and uncovering the lies in order to find your truth
ONE WITH DIVINITY:
When you find you are “walking with” and continuously connected to a flow state that you are living in compassion a grace. Service brings you joy, and your heart is full All that you have become is a beacon for raising the vibration of life.
So, the awakening is happening, and life is no longer about being more than, better than, competing with, or surpassing. Life becomes about loving yourself enough to see the light and love in others Living in grace.
When you decide it’s time to reconnect with who you truly are, be sure to have a guide to help you travel this unknown territory.
Maybe even a Master guide. An Empowerment Master

THE POWER
OF TEACHING OTHERS FOR SUCCESS
by Kohila Sivas
In today's fast-paced world, where information is readily available and constantly evolving, traditional methods of learning may no longer be enough to ensure our children's success in education and in life.
Rote memorization and passive listening are not enough for true learning. Research has shown that the most effective way for individuals to learn and retain information is by teaching it to others.
to the famous "Learning Pyramid" developed by the National Training Laboratories, we remember:
10 percent of what we read,
20 percent of what we hear,
30 percent of what we see,
50 percent of what we see and hear,
70 percent of what we discuss,
80 percent of what we experience, and
95 percent of what we teach others
This means that when children are actively engaged in teaching others, they can retain up to 95% of the information they are teaching.
As parents, we have the power to empower our children to become confident teachers by creating an environment where they can actively engage in the learning process and by listening to our children's perspectives on their learning experiences.
When children are given the opportunity to teach others, they are forced to think critically and creatively about the material they are presenting.
Assuming the role of a teacher compels children to think critically and creatively about the material they present They develop essential skills such as effective communication, leadership, and empathy
According

Explaining complex concepts to others not only builds their confidence and self-esteem but also helps them become more proficient learners By breaking down information and articulating it in a way that others can understand, they solidify their own understanding of the subject matter.
Teaching others also fosters a deeper level of engagement with the material. When children prepare to teach a topic, they must organize their thoughts, identify key points, and create a coherent lesson plan. This process enhances their understanding of the subject and encourages them to think critically about how to effectively convey the information to others It pushes them to find creative ways to engage their "students" and adapt their teaching style to suit different learning preferences. These skills are invaluable in both academic and real-world settings.
Assuming the role of a teacher cultivates important social and emotional skills. When children teach others, they must be attentive to the needs of their audience, adapt their explanations to suit different learning styles, and exercise patience and empathy
They learn to listen actively, respond to questions, and provide constructive feedback These interpersonal skills are crucial for building positive relationships, collaborating effectively, and resolving conflicts, all of which are essential for success in various aspects of life.
Our certified Learning Success Coaches understand the importance of creating an environment where children can actively engage in the learning process and become confident teachers themselves. Our coaches are trained to support and guide children as they take on the role of teachers, providing them with the necessary tools and strategies to succeed
Through personalized coaching sessions, they help children develop their communication skills, enhance their subject knowledge, and refine their teaching techniques.

When Aryna Sabalenka was interviewed after her win at the finals of the 2023 Australian Open Tennis Tournament, she responded to a question about her selfconfidence in that moment of ultimate pressure with the expression that she has self-belief, and that self-confidence can appear as cockiness. VISUALIZATION:
This happens in an instant and only on the first shot is it even conscious, but every player visualizes how they anticipate the shot coming at them and how it will look when they return it, the type of spin, the ball going over the net and the target they will hit. A good player will watch the body language of the opponent, their hips their shoulders, their eyes and their feet to anticipate where and how the ball will be returned to them If it seems like they are all over the court it’s this anticipation, what I refer to as “Blink”, that enables that The more “Blink” the more that footwork and balance create preparation for the perfect return and possible winner

BALANCE:
Establishing physical balance is critical for every single shot. How the player positions himself/herself to receive a shot and particularly a serve is an easy way to observe this. The player uses a step called a split step as the opponent is striking the ball, which enables her to move in either direction in a balanced way towards the ball. The mental balance is accomplished through breathing.

Welcome to my first travel Column!
To say that I am a bit overwhelmed about writing a column is an understatement, to say the least. I never really considered myself much of a writer, that job fell to my late brother John Slykhuis, an award-winning Journalist. So this column is dedicated to him. I take up my pen ( laptop lol) to honor him!
As all of you know the travel industry was hit hard by the pandemic and is still feeling the effects, which you can all see by canceled flights and higher prices. But despite all that, more than ever people want to travel.
Ok so with that obligatory nod to the C(ovid), word let's move on, shall we?
If you are looking to start traveling again, first and foremost I strongly recommend using a travel advisor (me) or someone else in your community. There have been so many changes and so many new requirements by country that the everyday person cannot keep up to. That’s my job!
I do all the research, finding the best places and the best value for your dollar. Notice I did not say the least expensive, and the reason I don't say that, is the least expensive is not always the best value. But that is not easy to find with an online booking engine. There are a lot of suppliers that online booking engines just don't have the same access to, so chances are you are missing a lot in your research.
But I wanted to look at some of the trends in Travel One of the trends that are near and dear to my heart is sustainable, ethical travel.
Travelers are becoming more conscious of the effect their travel has on the destinations they visit. And people want to immerse themselves in our natural world, Seeing wildlife in their natural habitat and learning about the habitats and what challenges they are facing, and how we can make a difference.
Travelers want to learn about the cultures of other people and learn from them and not just trample over their homes and take pictures and leave. This is a trend that I personally love, people are moving away from the all-about-me attitude and want to be of service to others.

Travellers are becoming more aware of the impact of their trips on the environment and local communities, and are looking for ways to travel more responsibly and ethically An option of ethical travel is volunteering in the countries you visit, you can immerse yourself into the culture of a location by working alongside its inhabitants. The trend is to improve, support, and lift the places we visit on vacation. Take your children on these types of vacations, it is not only educational but helps future generations to embrace other cultures and protect
our natural world. They are our future and consider this type of travel as an investment in their future and our world’s future

Years before Covid, a co-worker did something that I was so impressed with He took a year ' s sabbatical and took his young family on a trip around the world, not to be tourists but to give back, they volunteered in every location they went to and engaged their children in local schools so they would learn about other cultures. The education those kids got on this adventure was something they could never get at a traditional school How fortunate for those kids! I always envied his adventurous spirit. What is your adventure spirit? Do you have a love for humans and wildlife? Do you want to do your part when on vacation? You can! By choosing how you vacation you can be a part of a brave new world, a world where we love and respect the places we go.
An example of companies that are leading the way in ethical and sustainable travel is G Adventures and Hurtigruten. 2 of my personal favorites.
Hurtigruten is also committed to sustainability and minimizing the impacts of its operations. They are revolutionizing the travel industry’s approach to sustainability, allowing them to offer authentic local experiences while leaving a footprint they are proud of both in nature and with the communities they visit2.
As a travel advisor, I can help you find the most eco-friendly and socially conscious destinations, accommodations, and activities for your trip, as well as provide you with practical advice, resources, and guidelines to help you reduce your environmental impact. You can vacation and have an impact on the places you visit. As a thank you for reading my column, I am offering $100 off any trip booked with me with G Adventures or Hurtigruten Let's book a Zoom and discuss your next Adventure!

ANXIETY AND CHILDREN TODAY
by: Mary Elizabeth Jackson
Life for all of us is vastly different than a few years ago and hard enough for any adult raising kids. Parents can be challenged to create any semblance of normalcy within their family circle The rate children are experiencing anxiety is increasing steadily and constantly. Our responsibility is to help our children
maneuver through life and learn tools and resources they can use to be more empowered. We can help teach them strength and resiliency for a better chance at a healthier life mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually There are more resources than ever before available to assist us in helping our kids be successful.
Let’s get real and talk about what is really going on for and with our kids today. First of all, they are unfortunately exposed to so much more than we ever were in different ways One of those is the technology world. It is a double-edged sword. So much to learn and see for educating and broadening their minds, and then there is the darker side.

Too many hours on technology is overstimulating their brains and exposure to life experiences that may be beyond their comprehension. Plenty of us experienced were exposed to or knew someone who went through trauma or challenges in some way. But what is coming at our kids daily, compiled with the past pandemic, has created a very different environment for them.
Incredible amounts of violence in video games are much different than what we were exposed to. We played with Asteroid, Pac- Man, and other makebelieve games. Many of today’s games have more realistic situations, and seeing this so young leads to desensitizing earlier in a child's life. This can aid in a lack of empathy and sympathy towards others. Being a part of the real world with real-world boundaries and scenarios can be more challenging. Also, we must remember that our human brain is not fully developed until we are twenty-five. So how can we expect exposure to more adult events at a younger age not to have an intense effect on children? All of this can lead to children experiencing anxiety and possible depression.

Coming through the past few year ’ s children have learned that the world can feel unsafe and uncertain. Everyone's routines were interrupted, and many lost family members and loved ones. I know we lost both my father and father-in-law, so my young son went through a lot of anxiety about dyeing and, "Where is God, and why did my grandfathers have to die?" Like all kids, my children were home from school. They experienced incredible anxiety during the pandemic, and children on a broader scale felt uncertainty about life in general. All of these have added to more anxiety in children.
Another reason anxiety is on the rise is that today one in thirty-six children by the age of eight is diagnosed with autism.
Children on the spectrum experience higher levels of anxiety and depression than their typical peers. They also can have a harder time processing information and how they feel. This compounds the challenge for these kids to live better mentally and emotionally. The good news is that help, resources, and tools are available to help our kids and families.

These are some signs and behaviors to look for in a child experiencing anxiety. It is obvious for some kids and for others their anxiety can be hidden and not as easy to diagnose Anxiety can present itself in a child as fear or worry, making them angry and irritable. Some children experience trouble sleeping, falling asleep, or having nightmares. Physical symptoms can include stomachaches, fatigue, and headaches Not eating properly and having a hard time concentrating are symptoms as well. Pacing the floor and talking about worrisome scenarios over and over is anxiety and a bit more on the intense side for a child.
A quieter or withdrawn child may be experiencing anxiety intensely but may not know how to express it. If a child's mood and behavior change drastically, this can also be a sign Many factors can affect a child who experiences anxiety, and there are many causes, some of which I have already discussed in this article. Depression can accompany anxiety as well and should be addressed if present

Here are a few tips and tools children can use to help them with anxiety. I have used these with my children, who have all suffered from anxiety. I have three children, and two are on the spectrum, so I have had to learn tools to help empower them in their life:
Breathing
We tend to forget how important breathing is, and it is still one of the easiest and most effective tools to use when anxiety is present. Breathing helps bring a child back into the present moment to relax and work through their emotions and feelings. Start with simple square breathing Children have great imaginations. Have them visualize as they breathe into a count of four and release to a count of four as they draw a square in their head. They can do this with any shape It also helps get their mind off what they are anxious about
Creative Outlet
This tool has been one of the most instrumental tools for all three of my kids It may be any of the arts or any way to be creative that is safe and healthy for a child. With two of my children being non-verbal when they were young, I often used drawing and coloring for communication . I also used writing and journaling, dancing and music, and playing instruments like piano or guitar
Whatever you have access to will work The key is your child having an outlet that is productive and constructive, not destructive.
Exercise
Exercise is one of the best antidotes for anxiety. There is so much to choose from, and the key is to get rid of the anxious,
nervous energy Some examples are walking, mindful movement, yoga, running, riding a bike, and hiking in nature When you move, endorphins or 'feel good' hormones are released into the body, which helps us feel better
Name it to Tame the emotion, thought, or feeling.
Teach or help your child how to start understanding what they are feeling or what may be causing the anxiety. This will help take the “scariness” and overwhelm out of what they are experiencing. Teach them the basic emotions and feelings so they can begin to identify them. It’s also helpful to teach them how to notice where they “feel” it in their body This will help to start to alleviate some of the anxiety as well. And back to creative tools, have them write or draw what they are so anxious about to help alleviate what they are experiencing at the moment

If your child or a child you care for is experiencing any of these signs or symptoms I have shared, then please have them checked out Many pediatricians will do assessments or evaluations to determine if a child is experiencing anxiety. Schools provide counselors for children to speak with, and sometimes group sessions are available to kids. Check with your church or a local church to see if they offer services. There are also organizations available in most larger cities to guide families to help with a child with anxiety. Equine and aqua therapy are both very soothing tools for children with anxiety.
Please do not wait or ignore if a child is struggling, hoping it might go away independently. Anxiety can be caused by many different things, and a child can suffer
greatly. Sometimes it is genetic or severe enough that a child may need medication. Don’t hesitate to get them help if needed Empowering our children will help keep them from internalizing what they may be going through, which can lead to other problems. Tools and resources like the ones in this article can aid your child, children, and whole family in living healthier lives.
Anxiety can be a very scary thing to deal with for a child and the parent. I have been there, feeling helpless but learning and applying tools has made a huge difference in our lives. And now, my children have skills they can use anytime they need them and can carry this throughout their life. Your child can too.

YOUR ADRENALS AREN’T FATIGUED, BUT…..
THEY DO NEED YOU TO MAKE DIFFERENT CHOICES.
It breaks my heart to hear my clients say (often sheepishly) “I think I have adrenal fatigue ” I can feel their sense of control fade away. The helplessness is palpable. On one hand, they are relieved. They have an answer - something to blame. It’s the old ‘ name it, blame it, and tame it’ mindset
We have a name: adrenal fatigue. We can now blame everything on those lazy adrenals.
And the next question they ask me - what supplements do you have to give me more energy?
And I don’t blame them. It’s the mindset we are conditioned to follow - this body part is clearly broken; how can you fix it or force it to do what it doesn’t want to do?
So rarely do we think instead ‘oh, wow, this body part is struggling. I wonder why? What happened? How can I support it to get back to tip top shape?’
The truth is your adrenals aren’t fatigued; and they aren’t broken. They haven’t given up on you or betrayed you.
No.

All of the above are signs of a nervous system that doesn’t know if you are going to make it - thinks you are being chased and your survival isn’t guaranteed. Of course along with this comes some ‘tag along’ symptoms (ie. signals from your body that it needs your attention):
But here’s where the magic happens. YOUR BODY IS RESILIENT. It is doing its best every single day to give you the best life possible based on your choices. This truth means that when you change your choices you change your experience

I just told you that it’s up to YOU (without blame).
That YOU have the power to find the answers (but may need someone to help you ask the right questions)
I put myself in the place where I belong - in the passenger ’ s seat as a guide while you drive your life’s experience.
So now that you have the keys, what do you do? You start to pay attention.

TRAUMA LIFE AFTER WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 68 68 68
I am often asked how I’ve been able to rebuild my life after facing trauma. The answer is, it’s not easy but if you ’ re willing to put in the time and effort, you can unapologetically create the life you desire. You see, I have had to face many traumas throughout my life, but it’s how I’ve handled them and chosen to live my life that allowed me to rebuild not only my own life but the life I’m building for my children.
I have faced many traumas throughout my life that includes being sexually assaulted as a child by a friend, bullied and assaulted by a boy and two girls the second week of junior high, a divorce from my high school sweetheart, leaving a four-year relationship where I endured emotional, verbal, financial, and physically abusive, filing bankruptcy, being laid off from my 16-year corporate job, and then laid off from my second corporate job during COVID.
All of these traumas have impacted me, but I also had to make choices to either allow these traumas to win or for me to take back and rebuild my life.
Please know that I understand that trauma looks different for everyone, which means how you handle trauma may look different from others and that’s perfectly ok Trauma is any experience that overwhelms an individual’s coping mechanisms, which is why trauma is unqiue to each of us. The most important thing to remember is that you are the only one who can decide how it impacts your life, which includes how you cope, move on, and continue on with your life.
I want to assure you, that you ’ re not alone when it comes to handling trauma. It’s hard to see the light at first, but when you want to make a change or difference in your life, you’ll figure out a way!
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that I wanted to create a life that I loved and to provide my children with a home filled with love, laughter, and joy! To continue with this dream that I had, I knew that things had to change, but no one was coming to change anything for me. This is when I took a good look in the mirror and realized that it was now or never! I had to start taking my life back and rebuild myself so that I could provide a beautiful loving home for my children.

RESENTMENT
As for me, I had spent the majority of my time holding onto hurt, anger, resentment, and feeling sorry for myself for the things that had happened to me and I couldn’t understand why these things kept happening to me I found the courage to seek professional help so that I could face my trauma and PTSD. I started to realize that the more I was able to open up and talk about things, the better I was able to face them. During this time, I embarked on a personal development journey that I am still on today. This personal development journey includes reading, listening to podcasts, going
to seminars, meditating, journaling, and many other things that help me become better than I was yesterday.
This journey has not been easy and taking the first step is the hardest to do, but it all begins with one step in front of the other I was ready and committed to doing whatever it took to create the life I wanted to provide for my children and me. Throughout this journey, there have been tough times, but the tools and techniques that I have learned, as well as, the
sustainable habits and rituals that I have created, help me stay focused and to get back on track when necessary.

I was able to use these tools, techniques, habits, and rituals in September of 2021 when my daughter was in a severe motorcycle accident with my ex-husband. She had severe injuries to her left leg and we didn’t know if she was going to be able to keep her foot or not The moment I answered the phone and heard my exhusband tell me that our daughter was injured, I realized our lives were forever changed. She was only 12 at the time of the accident and she was airlifted to Boston to be seen by the best doctors I spent three weeks in Boston as she underwent surgery after surgery and endured unimaginable pain.
I was terrified and I felt like I was living in a nightmare, but this trauma was different for me. I knew that was prepared to handle this one in a way that I had never been able to handle the other traumas from my past. I knew I also had to be strong for
my daughter, my son, and my family, and to do that I was able to use everything I’d been learning to continue to guide me.
I was able to reach out and ask for help from my family and friends as I knew her recovery was going to be long While on this journey, I used all the tools and techniques that I had learned and implemented into my life to guide me, my daughter, my son, our family, and my friends. I struggled at times and times were tough, but I continued to work on things daily by talking with God, taking some time for self-care, having facetime with my family, and friends, and taking time to be fully present with Addison Addison has made a remarkable recovery and I love seeing her back to playing volleyball, swimming, running around with her friends, and so many of the things she loved doing before the accident.

THE POWER OF YOUR WORDS

WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 74 74 JUNE 2023 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
Perhaps it was an encouraging word that lifted your spirits when you were down. Or maybe it was a harsh word that was spoken in response to anger or frustration
Our words have creative power. They are like seeds we plant in the fertile soil of our minds and the minds of others. As we sow, so shall we reap
When I was a little girl, I heard my parents affirm my brother and me fairly often. They would discipline us when needed but it was generally done in a “ you ’ re better than that” tone.
Then, when I was 12 years old, I met my uncle He was my father’s brother and had been estranged from our family since before I was born. That summer I helped out at his catering business and unbeknownst to my parents, my uncle berated me every chance he got His words shocked me, but growing up in a European home, I had learned to respect my elders. So I allowed those words to take root until my father found me hiding in a corner crying. We left that day and never went back.
Have you ever had a friend or family member say something to you that has stuck with you to this day?
WW WW WW WARRIOR WARRIOR WARRIOR 75 75 JUNE 2023 ISSUE2 ISSUE2 ISSUE2
Once a top athlete with music and academics coming naturally, I developed low self-esteem and deep insecurity that I wasn’t good enough and never would be I didn’t have the awareness at the time to correct my thinking so those roots grew and became stronger as the years went on. It took thousands of dollars invested into coaching and inner healing as an adult to remove all the toxic words from the garden of my mind.
What was said to you when you were young? What are you saying to yourself now? How do you speak to your children, spouse, friends, and co-workers?
Your Words Create Your World:
Our society today has become very loose with our words We use slang, chide each other, betray secrets, and use sarcasm as humor. We lash out at people who don’t share our point of view and tell ourselves things we would never say to a cherished friend.
We may only be talking to one friend about what’s happening in the news or at home, yet we are all connected through our energy. Every time we speak, we are creating a processional or ripple effect that extends around the world How powerful is that!
The Garden of Your Mind:
Do you believe that you are a woman of worth? Are your words in alignment with that belief? What thoughts are you allowing to repeat inside your brain? Thoughts are words spoken internally and have a damaging effect on your nervous system, body chemistry, and more They shape your belief system and influence what you declare loudly.

Is it time to do some gardening of your own, so that the best version of you can show up and thrive?
Awareness is the first step to any transformation, and it begins with you. Become aware of your thoughts and words; particularly those you repeat often. When you hear yourself saying a negative statement, tell yourself, “Stop. I take that back.” Then replace it with the opposite positive. You are interrupting your pattern and rewiring your brain to be more positive and empowering.
Be intentional about planting new seeds in the garden of your mind. Identify an empowering “I am ” statement that contradicts a “not enough” statement that you learned about yourself growing up I call it the Primary Lie. Perhaps like me it was, “I can’t do anything right. I’ll never be successful.”
It’s a lie. Turn it into the positive and say, “I can do a lot of things well. I can , , ... (Fill in the blanks). I am a woman of great value.”
Notice, I wrote it in the present tense The future is always in the future. If I were to say, “I will be able to,” my brain would place it perpetually in the future. Hence I would never arrive
