As you know, there are lots of auctions around town for lots of great causes. The cool items the committee has acquired on our behalf isn’t what sets this event apart. What makes this event truly special is the reason we are all there. There are a number of families today in need of real answers. Whether a child is spinning out of control, a marriage is on the rocks, or the parents want to lead their family to go to the next level, Sheridan House is there. Our desire to educate, encourage, and empower today’s families is stronger than ever. Join us on Friday, May 13th, at our Spring Auction. We will unite in purpose and have fun while we’re at it. Hop online today and register @ www.shfm.org. Together, we will make a difference in Jesus’ name.

It was 1988 when Jason and Amy found themselves in a dilemma. Jason had just graduated from high school and Amy was excited to begin her senior year. They were young and in love when they discovered Amy was expecting. “Since we were both raised in solid Christian homes, it threw our parents for a loop. Honestly, it threw us for a loop too.” Amy remembered. “I couldn’t believe that this was happening to us. Jason offered to marry

With a marriage proposal on the table and an extreme sense of unease, Amy and Jason decided to seek counsel at Sheridan House. Continued...

“I know we are blessed. We beat the odds. There were actually people who took bets on how long our marriage would last, but here we are 23 years later and we are still going strong.” Amy said. “It is all because of God. Without Him at the core, we wouldn’t have survived.

Ruth Torres Speaks Single to Moms

Ruth understands the journey our moms are on because she has walked in their shoes. “I grew up in an environment of poverty and abuse. Education was not a priority. I dropped out of school and became a single parent at a very young age. After being told that I wouldn’t amount to much, I refused to believe it, clung to the knowledge that

I absolutely loved the career workshop with Ruth! She was inspiring, uplifting and funny. I have told so many people about her and how great the workshop was. - Nichol The seminar itself was excellent and I picked up several great tips. I will be redoing my resume today. Ruth was wonderful. She was very understanding and at the same time she “told it like it is” which I really appreciated. - Linda

God gifted me for a great purpose, and I enrolled in college. It was tough being a full time employee, student, and mom; but by the grace and strength of God, I did it. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate programs. If I can do it, anyone can!” Ruth approaches life from a Biblical, positive,“can do” attitude and her enthusiasm is contagious. With over 20 years of experience in human resources and a passion for helping others discover and apply their God-given talents within their careers, Ruth was an obvious choice for our first

Recently, our single parent ministry offered an Interviewing/Resume Preparation training session to the moms we serve. Not only did the moms walk away educated, empowered, and enthusiastic, but they also experienced a true blessing by fellow single mom, Ruth Torres. Ruth savored the opportunity to give back to Sheridan House since we played such an integral role in the life of her family when they needed it.
